Rome is home: You in the heart of the Eternal City
Wonderful fully furnished one-bedroom apartment with a breath-taking view on the rooftops. The keywords could be: sunny, quiet and elevator (all rarities in this area). But many more can be added!
Selected as a "SlowTrav Favorite", a Recommended Rental by the Dream of Italy Newsletter a Gold Top Vacation Rental 2013 award on FlipKey, and a 5 star rating on Trip Advisor, our home is just a few steps from Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona, but located on a quiet and elegant street of the historical center. Just the perfect apartment for who wants to experience the very heart of the Eternal City.
The address: via dei Chiavari. An elegant and quite street right in the heart of Rome, few steps from Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona. The palace where the flat is located was built in the 1200 on the ruins of the stage of "Pompeo's Theater" - Rome's first theatre from 55 b.c. Recently, the building has been finely renovated and during the process the technicians have brought back to light some very beautiful frescos from the 1200 which are now visible on the sealing of the entrance hall.
The flat is placed on a high 3rd floor (high 4th by US standards) and is serviced by an elevator (a true rarity in buildings of this area). It's full of light and from its large windows you can enjoy a lovely view of the rooftops of the historical city center.
The apartment is over 60 sq. meters (about 650 sq.ft). From the frontdoor, you get into an entrance and then you enter in a large living space which opens on the other rooms. Everything has been renovated in the most elegant way, with handmade Tuscany' tiles on the entire apartment's floor.
The living space is virtually divided in two areas: the living and the dining area. Here a beautiful antique Italian dining table can be expanded to easily sit up to eight guests. While in the living area, sitting at the sofa you can enjoy the sunset on the rooftops through a beautiful large window. Moreover, if you need, the sofa can be transformed into a very comfortable queen size bed for your visiting family and friends.
The bedroom reserves another incredible sight: the original 1200's roof tiles and woodwork have been perfectly kept through the centuries and constitute today's sealing' finishing!
On the less historical side, here you find a nice king-size bed, a very large in-wall closet, a writing desk and the private entrance to the bathroom.
The bathroom has two independent entrances both from the living area as well as from the bedroom. Here you find an elegant white and blue handmade tile work on the walls, the handbasin, the w.c, a comfortably large showercabin (sorry, no tub) and – following the Italian tradition - the "bidet".
The kitchen displays the same tile work as the bathroom and another hint to our history: the working surface is made of travertine marble - the same material used to build the Coloseum and most of the ancient palaces of the city. Logically, here you'll find all common appliances but also a washing machine with the dryer (a very useful, but not so common appliance in Italian homes). The windows here are made of specially hand-blown glass and they open on a tiny, cozy backyard, giving another view of the rooftops around.
Overall the flat is elegantly furnished with antique as well as modern furnitures, original paintings and art works on the walls. The rooms are though intended to offer a pleasant balance between full and open space, leaving to you the eventuality to add your personal touch to your new home.
Moreover, the apartment enjoys an independent gas heating system, an armored frontdoor, a safe, double-glazed wooden windows, a loft storage space over the kitchen, several cabinets, TV, telephones, vacuum cleaner etc.

This apartment is the only property we rent out: we are not an agency. We are a family of artists, this has been our home until our daughter was born, then we decided to move to the countryside. We still come back to this apartment now and then, and we still consider it our home, even though we have guests staying there most of the time.
We'll respond, generally within 24 hours, sometimes within moments. If we don't get back to you after three business days, it means that due to unexpected technical trouble, your email didn't get to us or our answer didn't get to you. In that case, please don't hesitate to contact us again.

Perfectly situated within a stones throw of the Campo de Fiori, the apartment offers everything one could want in a rental in Rome! We loved the sunny rooms, the elevator, the well equipped little kitchen, the convenience of the washer/dryer, the comfy bed. Lots of hot water for two of us to shower every day and the double paned windows kept the noise at bay at night.
The location is superb...everything one could want to see is really within walking distance...and the place is surrounded by wonderful restaurants (try the Fish place just across the tiny piazza!).
Nothing more to add except that this lovely apartment exceeded our expectations and we will be back but this time we're going to be staying a lot longer!

We have stayed in this modest-but-marvelous apartment twice and hope to return. It is in the heart of Rome, between Campo di fiore and Piazza Navona and is a two-minute walk from the Largo argentina bus hub. The apartment is at the roof level of the adjoining buildings. The bedroom has a comfortable king bed. The main room has comfortable seating as well as a dining area. While the kitchen is small, it is quite complete. The tiny elevator is a squeeze for two people but is reliable. There's a supermercato on the next street, and we have cappuccinos each morning at the corner bar before setting off. We highly recommend this place!
thank you so much for your kind words. We look forward to your next visit! Cheers!

We had the wonderful privilege of staying in Massimo lovely apartment in Rome. The apartment is in a wonderful location, with everything you could ever want. Centrally located with a market in a nearby square, made shopping easy. Massimo could not have a more gracious host. There is not a thing that I could say negative about the accomodations. We cannot wait to get back to Rome and hopefully stay in this apartment again.
thank you so much for your lovely review! We all have great memories of your visit and hope to see you again in the not too distant future.
A big hug to you, Tom and Rebecca!

Gorgeous flat, exactly as advertised, on an utterly charming street in the heart of the historic center. You really couldn't get a better location-- easy walking distance to nearly everywhere you'd want to go, and easy access to bus/tram lines for everywhere else. Great cafes nearby and good restaurant choices, and the owners are extremely nice and helpful with tips and info.

Fantastic one-week stay! All communication with Massimo was by email prior to our arrival. He explained details of the rental clearly and concisely. The owners were waiting for us at the apartment when we arrived and took time to orient us to the apartment and neighbourhood. The flat is well appointed, tastefully decorated, and roomy, located on the top floor of an historic building, formerly a palace built on the ruins of the Pompei theatre, now converted to apartments.
The large windows overlook the terra-cotta roofs of Rome's historic centre, and bathe the apartment in natural light. There was a lovely cross-breeze in the evenings. The kitchen had everything we needed and the apartment is steps away from a wonderful bakery, Roscioli's (try the pizza bianca), a gourmet deli (of the same name) just a bit further along the street. A daily produce market steps away in Campo dei Fiori, sells fresh fruit and vegies, as well as cheeses, oils and spices, and various and sundry other edibles. Two supermarkets are an easy walk from the apartment. Did I mention the gelato?
Perfect location. Many popular destinations are within a 20-min walk; Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Jewish Ghetto, Trastevere, Roman Forum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain. Other nearby hidden gems include Largo argentina, Via Guilia, Teatro di Marcello, Piazza Mattei and Crypta Balbi. Or venture further afield on bus or tram, many of which stop nearby on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II or on Largo argentina. Also check the rome-is-home website, for a wealth of information about the flat, its history and the area, along with many other helpful tips about living and eating in Rome.
In short, the rome-is-home apartment is the ideal Roman vacation rental. Choose to stay within walking distance of the apartment and literally never run out of places to explore, or venture farther afield using the bus and subway. I look forward to staying again on a future visit to Rome, and recommend it without hesitation.
