Rome's Trastevere neighborhood is prized by the young and young-at-heart for its village atmosphere. Old world, offbeat, winding cobblestone streets, many restaurants and uniqueness make it a popular spot for visitors to Rome!
The neighborhood abounds with restaurants, shops and sites, whether it is an ancient monument or seeing how locals, known as Trasteverini, still hang laundry out to dry over the narrow streets. A few minutes walk from the apartment is famous Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, which welcomes all with it lively “all the world's a stage” setting and beautiful church, believed to be one of the oldest in Rome.
The apartment is conveniently located just a few blocks from John Cabot University, one of Rome`s most established study abroad campuses, making it a convenient apartment for friends and family who come to Rome to visit a student or faculty.
The apartment building is accessed off a small passageway with 15 steps off the street. Walk up the passageway to reach the apartment building`s front door, once inside the building the apartment`s front door is immediately to the left.
The sunny decor and bright terrace of the Dorotea apartment provide a comfortable and central location for visitors to the Eternal City. The apartment is simple and has basic furniture. It's a good apartment for people on a tight budget who want to be in the lively Trastevere area and who will be content with a basic, simple apartment.
As you step through the apartment front door you are greeted by a small living room with round dining table that can seat up to four people, just beyond is a convertible sofa that opens up to sleep one person.
Beyond the living room is a doorway leading to the kitchen. The fully furnished kitchen is up-to-date with a convenient counter with two barstools for eating light meals. A delightful spot for a quick meal or breakfast.
Step through the doors off the bedroom or kitchen and you can enjoy sun-drenched days and balmy nights on the large, nicely planted patio. Furnished with a teak patio table and chairs, this is a delightful place to enjoy Rome`s Mediterranean climate and savor "La Dolce Vita". Imagine lazy, languorous afternoons outside on the terrace.
This is city living so neighbors above can see you (and will probably be envious) soaking up the sun and enjoying meals al fresco on the terrace.
There is a cafe next door that sometimes plays loud music at night so if you might be bothered by this please take note, or bring your earplugs.
The bedroom is on the other side of the living room, separated by a partial wall, no door. French doors in the bedroom open onto the sunny terrace. The bedroom can be made up as two single beds or a dual-queen bed.
Off the bedroom is the bathroom with bathtub with overhead shower attachment, toilet and bidet....Read more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Dorotea Apartment. Our greeter, Francesca, was very accommodating and helpful. The apartment was clean, and warm (it was pretty cold while we were there), and well equipped. The patio would be wonderful in better weather!
The apartment is a 30 minute walk to most places you'd want to see, and just a couple minutes to the bus to get farther field. There are dozens of good restaurants in the neighborhood - so good, in fact, that we didn't use the kitchen at all, even though that had been our plan. There are mini-markets just steps away if you are inclined to cook. The neighborhood is lively and fun day and night. The restaurant downstairs does have live music several nights a week, and while we could hear it in the apartment, it wasn't bothersome.
While Rome's Hop-On-Hop-Off buses get pretty negative reviews, we found the City Sightseeing Roma buses a great way to get oriented to the city for the first couple days since it was out first time there. There's a stop between the Colosseum and the Victor Emmanuel II Monument that's only a 15 minute walk from the apartment (through some wonderful ruins in the Jewish Ghetto), and that was easier at the beginning than figuring out bus schedules. Then we got a RomaPass - includes admission to two attractions as well as the use of buses and subways - and by then the public transit system made more sense. Granted we were there in the off season, and many of the negative comments about the HOHO buses are about crowds, so this might not work in the high season.
We also downloaded Rick Steves Audiotours from the internet (free). The Trastavere and Jewish Ghetto walking tours both start just a few minutes walk from the apartment and took us through places we might not otherwise have gone. We listened to his tour of the Colosseum, Pantheon and other sites, too...almost like having a private tour guide for free!
The amount of information Italy Prefect provided before we left home was phenomenal and very helpful. I'd definitely use Italy Perfect services again and recommend them highly!
Thank you so much for the lovely comments! The Italy Perfect Team

The apartment was clean and well furnished. Everything worked! (AC, Internet, TV, DVD, hot water, gas stove, etc. -- very unusual for Roman apartments.) This was my fourth year staying in an apartment in Trastevere, and this apartment was the best ever. The location cannot be improved (some late night noise from a nearby bar), because you're only a minute's walk from anything you might need. Be sure to visit Dar Poeta, an incredible local wood-fired pizza parlor with the best pizza in Rome (really).
Back to the apartment: fully functional and clean kitchen, if small; large bedroom and bath; small dining room/sitting room combination. And outdoor enclosed garden for dining. The space is very nice for a couple for long stays, and adequate for a couple and two children for shorter stays.
Thank you for your nice feedback. Happy to hear you enjoyed the great location of the Dorotea apartment, the terrace and that you found it to be the best apartment you've rented out of 4 stays in Trastevere. We hope to welcome you back again soon. The Italy Perfect Team.

"Delightful apartment in Rome"

The Dorotea apartment in Trastevere was a great choice for our 6-night stay in Rome. The arrival instructions were clear, and the apartment was spacious, bright and comfortable. Both the WiFi and the air-conditioning worked well. The small kitchen was fine for breakfast and lunch preparation. We chose to eat out at night - lots of great choices in the immediate neighbourhood. We were not troubled by noise from outside. Owner Gabriella responded promptly when the hot water went off after external gas works. We would most certainly recommend Italy Perfect for trouble-free rentals.
Thank you, we are so pleased you had a good stay at the Dorotea apartment. Thank you very much for your nice feedback. The Italy Perfect Team.

We had a wonderful time at this apartment. The location was perfect. The room is open concept, but nicely subdivided. Everything was clean, and exactly as portrayed. The kitchen equipment provided was what we needed. We made many meals there and enjoyed them on our private terrace.
The café downstairs was adorable and we befriended Guiseppe (the owner) in no time. Yes, the area is noisy, but really, it's the only way to be at the heart of things. We walked around every night and discovered cute little shops and restaurants in every side street. The atmosphere is amazing in Trastevere, young and old just relax and enjoy their evening. Not a touristy feel for such a close distance to Rome's center.
Our only recommendation: The mattresses are much too hard. My husband and I have no issues with hard beds, but these ones were rock solid and had a noticeable curve in the middle of each... They were very clean though, and I'm allergic to dust, so I can tell ;)
We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We have asked the owner to add a memory foam topper to the mattresses. Italians still prefer very firm mattresses while our North American guests have become accustomed to softer mattresses in recent years.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Dorotea apartment. The best things about it are without doubt the location and the lovely terrace. The apartment was clean and comfortable and a great place to come back and relax after a day of sightseeing. We loved the terrace which meant we could sit out in the sun with a glass of wine and feel as if we were really living in Italy. Trastevere is a great area to stay, lots of very good restaurants and bars very close by and although it's busy it feels less touristy than some other areas of Rome. All the major sites are within about a 30 min walk with some being much closer.
The booking process with Italy Perfect was very straightforward and all the information that we were provided with was very useful. We were warned about the potential for noise from the cafe downstairs. This did keep us awake until around 2am on a couple of nights but didn't take away from our enjoyment of the apartment overall.
Staying in this apartment you experience what it's like to live in the middle of a bustling community. You can hear and sometimes see the neighbours which is worth taking into consideration if that might bother you. We thought it was all part of the experience!
I'd definitely recommend Italy Perfect to a friend.

We really enjoyed staying in the apartment. It was a great size for two people
and the terrace space was a great added bonus. The apartment is really in a
perfect location since it is walking distance from most of the major
destinations in Rome. Plus the neighborhood was truly adorable. Our greeter
was very friendly and nice and the welcome basket, maps and guidebooks
were a great additional touch. I've already recommended ItalyPerfect to several

I'm really glad we heard about ItalyPerfect. I really enjoyed having an
apartment rather than a hotel room for our stay in Roma. It was a
wonderful trip and a pleasant stay. I thought the location of Dorotea was
great. I loved being in the Trastevere and all the little shops, restaurants
and more that are over there. It had much less of a touristy feel that being
near the Spanish Steps or Pantheon would have been. It gave us a better
sense of actually living in a Rome neighborhood. The apartment was also a
nice size, bigger than a hotel room would have been and the extra of
having the kitchen and terrace to boot. The owner was a gracious hostess.
She took the time to walk us thru the mechanics of living in the apartment,
showed us how to operate everything. She has even left a basket of
welcoming goodies for us that helped ease us into the swing of things.
Having the [loaner] Italian cell phone was a Godsend for being able to get
hold of our son in Rome without exorbitant charges every time we called
him. A plus of the apartment was that it was next to the good cafe where
we could hang out and have coffee in the AM, a glass of wine in the PM, and
check our email on the Internet. We got some noise in the late evening (up
to 2am some nights) along with street noise when there were people
standing outside and drinking. This was not a big deal as that's what comes
along with being in that neighborhood and the owner had installed double
pane glass. Overall, I'm glad we picked Dorotea. We would certainly use
ItalyPerfect again and would recommend it to our friends.

Exceptionally clean and everything in working order with a lot of hot water!!!
Location was outstanding. No comments on restaurants because they were all
gooood!! Enjoyed the most? . . .um . . ITALY!!! Everything. We had a five hour
private tour of the Vatican. Can't come up with the adjectives to describe.
Everything was perfect!! Thank you for making it seamless.

We loved our stay in the Dorotea apartment! The apartment was very clean,
bright and sunny, spacious, and conveniently located in a great neighborhood.
We loved sitting out on the private terrace! Since there are so many restaurants
and caffes nearby (a real plus, as there are some very good ones!), we were
concerned that the apartment might be noisy at night, but it was not. The only
drawback to this apartment is that there is no clothes washer, but for us that
was minor and Italy Perfect had included laundromat recommendations in the
information that came with the apartment so that solved the problem. I also
have to add that Italy Perfect lives up to its name -- perfect! They provide
excellent customer service and the apartment more than lived up to our
expectations. I have had previous experience with other apartment rental
agencies and Italy Perfect is by far the best: professional, friendly, and helpful.
I will definitely rent from them again (If we return to Rome, I'd love to rent
Dorotea again.) and I have already recommended them to friends.

If there was a spot in New York where Soho, Tribeca and the Village
converged, its Roman equivalent would be the location of the Dorotea. I
recently came back from a month staying there, and must ask anyone reading
this to consider it a rave. The owner couldn't have been more reliable and
accommodating, the apartment was spotless and charming, and I just can't
think of a single complaint. Italy Perfect was on top of everything, completely
reliable, responsive... what more can I say?

My wife and I had a wonderful time in Rome. The apartment was ideal for us. It
was centrally located, making it accessible to all the sites, restaurants and
shops. We walked everywhere, had fun and truly enjoyed our experience there.
The greeter was nice, showed us the ropes and made us feel welcome. The
apartment was clean and comforting after a long day of siteseeing, shopping
and enjoying the Italian cuisine and drink. We scheduled a driver to take us to
the airport and he was timely, courteous and knew where to go. The welcome
basket was a great touch.

This tidy, little apartment in an old building was perfect for us. Its location
near the pedestrian bridge made it easy to get around this ancient city by foot.
Its not quite so convenient if you want to get a taxi or get on a bus. There are
lots of restaurants in the neighbourhood, including the cafe downstairs in the
same building. There is even a laundry around the corner. The owner was
helpful in getting us oriented (although controlling the hot water always
remained a mystery) and helped with arranging our trip to the airport.

Overall we were very satisfied with accommodation and the greater was very
nice and helpful. We loved the patio most and enjoyed eating our meals out
there. The only drawback we found was the neighbours being too close and
when they were home we could hear them talk. We loved the neighbourhood
and the location, we could walk to almost all the monuments and landmarks.
It was just great. Almost all cafes and restaurants around the apartment were
good and are to be recommended. Also there was a green grocer just around
the corner where you could also pick up some bread.

Italy Perfect has the highest standards in their apartment rentals. The Dorotea is attractive and convenient. The courtyard is a big plus in good weather. The owner is delightful! Late night music from the bar downstairs is occasionally heard but was not a big issue for us in our overall love of this apartment.
