Lounge on the expansive terrace while the icon of Rome, the Coliseum changes with time of day, season and weather.
This apartment has stunning Coliseum views of a lifetime. The interior has much to appreciate with its cool, modern design.
Magnifico is a unique and special vacation rental. Lounge on the expansive terrace while the icon of Rome, the Coliseum changes with time of day, season and weather. The Coliseum views are stunning.
Perched on the Colle Oppio, one of the Seven Hills of Rome, this apartment overlooks the Roman Coliseum, as close as it is possible to live. In less than five minutes, you can walk to famous St. Peter in Chains home of Michelangelo's Moses, Santa Maria Maggiore, Nero's Golden House (Domus Aurea), the Roman Forum, the Arch of Constantine, the Coliseum and the charming village of Monti within in the city.
The building delights in its spectacular location, inviting in light and reveling in the views available in many directions. Built in the 1960s and has a cool, marble lobby and modern elevator. The residents include distinguished actors, politicians and industrialists. A doorman during business hours provides security and will gladly help you as he can with directions; he speaks some English.
The sweep of the living room is enhance by the long windows onto the terrace and the long white sofas. Cool and clean, it is filled with museum-quality art. Beautiful antique side pieces balance the modern layout and furnishings.
The glory of Magnifico is the long terrace, about 200 square feet with a direct view of the Roman Coliseum and the Arch of Constantine. So close, you are practically inside! Lined with gardener-tended plants and flowers, there is room on the terrace for dining and lounging while you watch the light change on the view of a lifetime. An awning is in two parts and can shade you from the sun or the rain.
The living room has an L-shaped sofa backed by antiqued glass. One wing of the sofa overlooks the terrace and has a Coliseum view. A glass dining table for six adjoins the living room. Next to the living room is a tiny "den" for reading and watching TV. Fine Persian carpets are arrayed across the parquet floor.
The master suite has a moderate sized bedroom with ample closets and a French door onto the terrace bringing in light and the scents and colors of the garden on the terrace. The bed is queen-sized, mattress on strapped frame, the usual in Italy.
The master bath is distinctively and exuberantly tiled in a checkered pattern of tan and brown. A contemporary basin-style sink is joined by the usual fixtures. There is a shower over tub with the typical hand-held shower head that can be placed into a receptacle on the wall for a standing shower.
Beyond the den is the kitchen in its pretty melanzana, eggplant-colored tiles. There is a large refrigerator with freezer, gas stove top and oven, microwave and electric coffee maker.
A kitchen balcony connects the kitchen with the small bedroom. There is a modern washing machine with drying racks out there. Few Italians have clothes dryers; you put your clothes on the drying racks to dry.
Between the kitchen and the tiny second bedroom is a very small half-bath bathroom with sink, toilet and bidet.
The second bedroom is fine for one person. It is small and simply furnished. Cabinets above the bed for storage, no closet. There is a flat-screen television in this room. This bedroom gets some traffic noise from below, light sleepers take note....Read more

We could not possibly have been happier with "Il Magnifico" during our stay from late April into early May. We especially loved how bright it is, with large windows and views on two sides. And we fell in love with the large terrace that runs along one entire side of the apartment. It was filled with a profusion of blooming petunias, roses, citrus trees, jasmine, hydrangeas and more. Clearly the owner has a green thumb! After a few days of sightseeing hither and yon, I found myself thinking that sitting on the terrace--with its direct view onto the Colosseum and Constantine's Arch--was what I wanted to do more than anything else in Rome. We enjoyed wine and ate breakfasts and some dinners on the terrace. The apartment interior is bright, open, beautifully furnished, and totally comfortable, including the bed in the master bedroom. At the end of each day's explorations of Rome, we looked forward to returning to Il Magnifico. We also enjoyed the location: in Monti, which the New York Times has called "Rome's Hottest 'Hood." Thanks to the great service provided by the ItalyPerfect folks, we found good places to eat and to shop for food.
The service ItalyPerfect provides was incredibly helpful. They suggested Rocco of Rome Value Transfer to pick us up when our cruise ship docked. For ItalyPerfect clients he has a special price that is cheaper than a taxi; ditto for the trip to the airport when we departed. The company's representative, Consuelo, met us when we arrived, let us in to drop off our bags even though the apartment was being cleaned, then returned to give us our thorough introduction and tour a few hours later. The copious advance information we received from ItalyPerfect was amazing--everything from recommended restaurants throughout Rome to instructions for WiFi, dishwasher (yes, there is one), oven, cooktop, and washing machine. Initially I was drawn to Il Magnifico because the listing was so complete: good photos and captions, good description. Then, the company's follow-up was so professional and helpful. I have already booked a rental with sister company LondonPerfect for August, and I will definitely rent again in Italy! This is a first-rate outfit. For my first rental outside the U.S, we felt that we really scored! Read more
Thank you so much for enjoying yourselves so much! That view from the terrace is a memory of a lifetime, isn't it?

What a great apartment! We chose this apartment over others because of the location, air-conditioning, WiFi and the terrace view. We stayed here 4 nights and loved that it was so close to the Colosseum, public transportation, restaurants and a grocery store. The apartment was very clean and nicely furnished. I would highly recommend this apartment to everyone! Read more

We stayed in the Magnifico apartment for 5 nights. Every thing we needed was provided. The location so close to the Forum, Colosseum. Palatine Hill was awesome. Public transportation is right outside the door. The neighborhood feels safe and there are restaurants close by. We used the covered terrace every day as the weather was perfect. The apartment was spotless and furnished nicely. It exceeded our expectations and we would not hesitate to stay there again. Consuelo was very helpful and sweet. Communication with Pat and everyone at Italy Perfect has been friendly, helpful and organized. We used Stephano for our car service from the airport and were very pleased with the service. Thanks to all for a wonderful stay in Rome. Read more

The Monti is the oldest part of Rome and we love this location. It's a bit removed from the mass of tourism in the more trampled parts of the old city. The view over the Coliseum, the arch of Constantine and the Temple of Venus and Rome is splendid. We sat outside every late afternoon on the terrace and watched modern Rome and ancient Rome converge. The apartment is perfectly situated for us, a short walk to the Oppian Hill, an easy 5-10 minutes walk to the Palatine and the ancient Fori, Quirinale, San Clemente or Santa Maria Maggiore. We even discovered a short cut to the Spanish Steps that took about 20 minutes on foot. Campo dei Fiori is about a 25 minutes walk and Piazza Navona and the Pantheon around 30 minutes. The layout of the apartment is extremely comfortable and even though the Via Degli annibale below can get a lot of traffic, the apartment is up on the 6th floor and stays very quiet. The water is always hot, the aC is cool and quiet, the wifi is fast, the kitchen is very accommodating and the mattress in the bedroom is the best we've ever slept on. The apartment building is very secure and there is a concierge on duty till 2pm during the week. We love the Elite market on via Cavour for groceries or there is a Carrefour Grocery behind the Coliseum on Via dei Santi appostoli. There is great pizza at Li Rioni on via dei Santi Quatro Coronati behind the Coliseum or alle Carrette on Via Madonna dei Monti. We often dined at Le Tavernelles on via Panisperna, ate some amazing food at L'Asino d'Oro on via Boschetto and Urbana 47 on via Urbana and our favorite gelateria in the Monti "Fata Morgana" in the Piazza dei Zingari. There is also the best Sicilian granita at Ciui Ciui on via Urbana. Thank you Italy Perfect for a perfect holiday rental. Read more

We spent 5 nights in the Magnifico including our 19 year old daughter and the apartment could not have been more perfect! Everything worked out perfectly! Our greeter was on time and even had a few snacks and a bottle of wine ready for our arrival which was much appreciated after a long flight. We found the Magnifico to be extremely comfortable and clean. The location was fabulous. Each morning we sat on the Terrace enjoying our coffee (glad to have an american style coffee maker)). This was the second time we stayed in an Italy Perfect apartment in Rome and we look forward to future trips. We would be glad to stay in the Magnifico unit again.

We stayed at the Magnifico apartment for a week in Nov 2011. We found the apartment to be clean and bright, with an outstanding view of the Colisseum and Constantine's arch. The location was great: close to both the subway and a taxi stand, and within walking distance of just about everything. The area of Rome nearby, called the Monti, is full of little restaurants and shops. Pat Byrne of Italy Perfect was a terrific resource. She was so helpful: she helped us arrange transportation from the airport and back again, sent me information about tours of local sights, and answered any and all questions quickly and thoroughly. We will definitely try and stay in one of Italy Perfect's apartments next time we visit! Read more

We truly enjoyed everything about Magnifico. Location is fantastic, walking distance to everything. But it's the view of the coliseum that makes it so much better. You can sense what is was like in days of old. Our service was wonderful, the apartment very gracious. It's the perfect way to see Rome. Read more

The smartest thing my sister and I did for the Rome leg of our first Italian foray was to lease this apartment near the Colosseum for a week. If you get lost in Rome, you can always find the Colosseum. And after walking for hours, immersing ourselves in all things gloriously Roman, it was lovely to have an oasis where air conditioning and a large quiet space and a killer view of the Colosseum and arch of Constantine (especially at night)welcomed us home. The deck is large and perfect for cocktail hour or morning coffee(we did need to clean it a bit ourselves upon arrival).
We did not cook meals but it looked like if you were so inclined, everything rudimentary you would need was there in the small but efficient kitchen. (Tip: move the liquid cleansers from under the sink to the top of the washing machine outside to decrease the disinfectant odor). The main living area and master bedroom have great aC. The small second bedroom does not, and seems most appropriate for a child. The furnishings are exactly as described on the website and there is also much artwork to enjoy.
The neighborhood is delightful, with a school across the street, many restaurants (bars) very close by (where you will want to go for wireless access - the apartment wireless did not work), great people- watching due to a bridge and small park that was a gathering spot for Italians and tourists alike. Even with all the activity right outside the door, the apartment is quiet and relaxing. We never heard neighbors. The building is very secure. We were assured by Paul, our greeter (very helpful with finding the grocery and with general directions)that the neighborhood was safe and indeed, we felt that way the entire time as well as anywhere we went in Rome.
The "how to do Italy" information we received from Italy Perfect before arriving was invaluable and we referred to it often.
Thanks to Italy Perfect for helping us select this perfect locale. What wonderful memories we have! Read more
Thanks so much for your note DK. It was a pleasure working with you. We are so glad you enjoyed the location, the apartment, the view and Rome! Also glad Paul was so helpful. Apologies that the terrace needed some cleaning, we'll work with the housekeeper on that.) Pat.

ItalyPerfect was great with reservations and apartment recommendations. Paul, the greeter and local contact, was great. We highly recommend paying for Stefano, the recommended driver to take you to and from the airport.
The apartment turns out to be a great location. We'd never been to Rome before and were pleased with the area. We walked all over the city and used the Metro stop which is right outside the front door. There are good local markets and shops close by.
There is plenty of room in the apartment and it is quite comfortable. The decor is modern, not quite old-world charming. But it is well furnished with quality furnishings. The kitchen is small and lacking enough prep knives, but was fine for many meals and coffee in the morning.
Don't count on the wi-fi working. other than that, no complaints. We will definitely use ItalyPerfect again Read more

Having been to Rome twice before, this was our first time staying in a
flat. Nothing can compare than having the experience of true Roman
living. Magnifico was everything it was advertised. The greeter was
there when we arrived and was helpful with our questions. The view
was incredible and the flat very lovely and comfortable. Excellent
location for ancient Rome lovers and an easy stroll to restaurants etc. I
can easily recommend Magnifico.
