"BIRDSONG" - Owners: Andy and Kathy MacKenzie
BIRDSONG was designed to resemble the original Floridian old style of architecture, with replica wooden panelling, raised front porch/veranda, railings and small pane windows.
The rear of Birdsong is totally private, secluded and bathed in sunshine all day. The secluded pool and spa catch this sunshine - keeping the water warm, but both are electrically heated in the cooler winter months. (The pool is also totally private). The pool deck comes equipped with loungers, tables and chairs for sun bathing, chilling out and relaxation!
The surrounding area is very quiet, with no through traffic. The landscaped gardens are tropical in style. At the rear, there is a small pond/lake, and a stones throw away ( but hidden from the villa) is the PINEMOOR GOLF COURSE with beautiful lakes & walks. This golf course is not currently in use which makes it a wonderful place to go for a leisurely walk. This secluded aspect encourages wildlife, and we have been treated to frequent visits from a variety of vividly colored birds(hence our name "Birdsong")! We have also had enjoyed seeing foxes, rabbits, squirrels, armadillos, raccoons and even a wild boar on one occasion! In fact, this area is a protected wildlife sanctuary.
After years of searching, we feel we have at last found our paradise - relaxing with a glass of wine, by the lakeside, or in the spa at sunset - with just the night chorus for company.
The elevated rear lanai (patio) - complete with railings, ceiling fan, table and chairs - is always in shade, providing relief in mid summer, when it may become too hot during the day. At sunset, this is an ideal place for the cocktail hour and the evening meal.
The interior is furnished to a very high standard. The living area is spacious with high cathedral ceilings, and Nafco Lorraine oak flooring. Sliding doors take you onto the lanai and to the pool. The three person sofa and a 2 person love seat, is the perfect place to relax at the end of a long, arduous day, and flick through the 120 + channels on the large 42" HD flat screen cable connected TV with Blue-Ray player with an assortment of DVD movies- or just listen to the stereo or radio. Free Wi-Fi is included for internet connection for your devices. There is also a well stocked bookcase to suit a variety of tastes. The luxury kitchen is fully equipped, and has a breakfast bar. The dining nook comes complete with a large oval table and six chairs - perfect for dinner indoors, and overlooks the secluded landscaped rear.
The master bedroom is fully carpeted and features a king size bed and 32" cable TV.
A large bay window with window seating overlooks the private rear garden. This bedroom features an en-suite bathroom - complete with a large 6' oval marble soaking bath - plus walk in shower, and separate "his" & "hers" marble vanity sink units.
Of the two additional bedrooms, one features a large queen size bed and cable TV. The other, overlooking the front veranda, has two single beds. Each bedroom has its own bathroom.
Washer and dryer are located just off the kitchen area.
We are sorry but pets are not allowed due to family allergies.
Beaches, shops, supermarkets, and restaurants are ten minutes drive away, and serious shopping is just 20 minutes to the local mall! There are several superb golf courses just at your door, and the most beautiful beaches that Southwest Florida has to offer are just ten minutes away! You can rent a boat for the day and visit one of the small semi-tropical islands that abound this paradise.
The breathtaking millionaires' Gasparella Island, with its deserted talcum powder white beaches, and quaint village of Boca Grande, is just 15 minutes from the door.

Oh it was just wonderful. We loved the house, loved the wildlife and the lake. Loved the heat and the thunderstorms. Loved middle beach and the warm sea. We went down to the lake every evening and saw an alligator, a bald eagle, turtles, ospreys and anhingas. I just love dragonflies so to see so many was a joy. And the amazing butterflies too.
We were so much happier with the aC off and windows open. Bliss. And the jacuzzi pool was well used too. We bought a couple of plastic wine glasses and left them for other guests.
We love mangoes and ate as many as we could & took some to the beach cut up and frozen.
We used one of the taxi firms on the fridge and he was a hoot, and went to Zybuca's a couple of times. Fantastic food and music.
We are both keen gardeners and love wildlife so we were in seventh heaven.
Staying in Birdsong with such beautiful surroundings and amazing wildlife was pure joy

I had read the fantastic reviews for Birdsong before visiting so was very hopeful indeed and was not in the least bit disappointed. The villa is absolutely charming, we felt instantly at home, very safe and wanted for nothing. The villa has everything you could possibly need; from a fantastically well equipped kitchen, numerous Dvds, books, games, leaflets and literature about the area, towels and even everything for a visit to the beach (parasol, chairs, buckets, cool box and cool blocks. Cycles are also provided and we enjoyed a couple of rides round the area which despite being absolutely massive is sooo quiet and peaceful. The pool area is perfect, completely private and surrounded by lush greenery, the pool is a perfect size and having the hot tub is an added bonus. The covered lanai is very large and this was essential for us as we travelled with someone who could not sit out in the sun. The beds were incredibly comfortable and having access to 3 bathrooms was perfect. I would highly recommend visiting this villa, I would happily skip Orlando and all its attractions to spend a week in this beautiful place; a visit to the beach at sunset is an absolute must. Really, really want to come back to Birdsong just as soon as enough pennies have been saved up again. Keep up the good work andy x

If you are looking for a very quiet, clean, comfortable and convenient villa on the Florida Gulf Coast, you will be happy at Birdsong! The house is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need or want, and andy was a most helpful and accommodating host. The beds and furniture are comfortable, and the house and everything in it is well-maintained and in good condition. The street and neighborhood was quiet and peaceful 24/7.
A distinctive feature of this house is the very private back yard, and we saw (and heard) plenty of birds and other Florida wildlife. Best of all was relaxing in the heated/bubbling spa and watching the beautiful vivid sunsets each night. Perfection!!!
Rotonda West is a great location and we explored several towns from here including Boca Grande, Venice, Nokomis, Siesta Key and Punta Gorda. We loved the beautiful uncrowded beaches, especially Blind Pass (Middle Beach) on Manasota Key and Nokomis on Casey Key. We appreciated the use of the provided bicycles and enjoyed riding through Rotonda but especially liked Pioneer-Cape Haze Bike Path and even saw bald eagles in their nest. We enjoyed many good meals at area restaurants and highly recommend Nicola's, Luna and Lock & Key.
We also liked the Rotonda/Englewood area because, unlike many other Florida communities during peak season, it is relatively uncrowded. We encountered no traffic problems, found plenty of parking available at the beaches, shops and towns, and no long waits at area restaurants.
If you are looking for a tranquil, comfortable, hassle-free vacation, Birdsong should be on your shortlist. Highly recommended!!!

This house welcomed us warmly, both from the outside with its beautiful, professional landscaping and from the inside with its attention to detail.
We especially enjoyed the covered lanai area which offers the perfect respite from the sun, while enabling us to sit outside by the pool, which is professionally maintained every week.
Andy is a great owner to deal with, always easily reachable, either by phone or e-mail.
This home is a wonderful spot for a relaxing holiday, yet it is still close to beaches, restaurants, and shopping. Two thumbs up!!
"What a great place to stay...and sooo quiet. Perfect!"

My wife and I travel often to Englewood to visit family. This place is the perfect place to stay. The accommodations were the best by far as it relates to anything you would need in or around the home. It's just a few minutes to two great beaches yet far enough away that it is quiet...I mean really quiet. In the garage we found several bikes and everything you would need for the beach, even including shoes and an umbrella. The home is very clean and the pool is great. We communicated with andy a few times both during our stay and since returning home and we find him to be great in every way. To keep it short just let me say that you will be well pleased with both the accommodations and the owner. It's a class act. Ps. Yeah, it looks just like the pictures!

The family and I travel to florida every year for the last 8 years or so staying in a different villa each time - some are "good" villa years, and some are "bad" depending on how well we chose that year.
I can safely say that this wasn't just a "good" villa year for us, its without question the best villa we've stayed in since we began holidaying there. We are probably going to break our rule and go back again next year for the 2nd time rather than risking another poorer experience in a different villa.
The home is lovely, and much different to the other houses in the area (they are nice, but all the same looking). This has an authentic feel, with beautiful surroundings, including a lake beside the bird sanctuary- literally at the back door. So much wildlife for company if we decide to take a walk that way - kept the kids amused for days.
It's very homely and very relaxing, well taken care of, very clean and comfortable. The pool and spa and amenities were perfect. The area is peaceful and not far from interesting places to visit.
The guestbook tells the story though, dozens and dozens of pages of previous guests feeling the same way that we do - that birdsong is a perfect home away from home in Englewood

Our recent stay at Birdsong was perfect from start to finish. Art and Lynn were a pleasure to deal with from the first day that we contacted them. They made sure that every detail was taken care of.
We stayed for two weeks and wished that we could have stayed much longer. The home has everything that you need and more. Very well furnished and in our opinion one of the nicest lots in the area. The privacy and the beautiful landscaping made our trip very relaxing and rewarding. We spent time at several area beaches which were an easy drive from the home. Would definitely stay here again!
Thankyou Lynn and art for a wonderful experience!

This villa had such a lovely "homely" feel. It was spacious and so well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We loved the quiet, relaxing atmosphere and enjoyed watching the local wildlife. It was close enough for use to regularly visit Englewood beach and also the local shopping malls. we also drove to Orlando and visited the theme parks - but loved "escaping" back to our relaxing house. Our girls got great enjoyment from the pool. Thank you for letting us share your delightful home.

We have loved Englewood for a long time but now having found Birdsong we love it even more and we didn't think that would ever be possible.
Art & Lynn's home is wonderful, comfortable, welcoming and equipped with everything you need for a perfect stay.
It is so private & peaceful and to sit outside early in the morning seeing so many beautiful birds then at dusk to see raccoons, rabbits and armidillos in the garden. Nothing to beat it.

Birdsong was a comfortable home away from home. It felt more like being in a friend's home than being in a vacation rental. Everything we needed was there, and any concerns we had were quickly addressed by the owners. The rooms were all nicely equipped, and the kitchen had everything our family of 6 needed. We enjoyed the pool, and being just a short distance from some of our favorite beaches worked well for our family. We even discovered a new favorite - Blind Pass (also known as Middle Beach). Free parking, good facilities, beautiful warm Gulf waters, and excellent shark teeth finding to boot! Staying at Birdsong was delightful, and we also enjoyed our best mango ever, fresh from the tree in the front yard! Wish we could go back tomorrow!

This lovely home in a picturesque setting was the perfect place for my teenager and second grader and me to spend the Christmas holiday. We watched birds and rabbits and swam in the heated pool to unwind. I was able to deliver online lectures using the home's internet and cooked many meals in the well appointed kitchen and on the grill. The great garden tub in the master and brightly colored other bedrooms and bathrooms made us feel right at home. The beautiful, old, huge and I mean huge vegetation was calming and well taken care of. We loved our stay - all three of us at 49, 17 and 7 years of age.

The simplest thing to explain how where our vacation : we felt at home almost better than at home (there is a swimming pool). The neighboorhood is very peaceful.
The house is great looking, well equipped, there is everything we need and even more (beach umbrella, beach seats and stuff for kids). We loved our stay at birdsong.

We were very excited when we saw the pictures on Vrbo and were not disappointed! Your home is beautiful and very comfortable. There was a morning dove with a nest in a planter on the front porch and we got to watch 2 bunnies at play! We really enjoyed the pool and spa and spent a lot of time there. Everything was so clean and nice. We also loved being so close to the beach and shopping. We ate at Daniels and also The Fishery and both were great. I was impressed with all the information you had about the area, and your information on Birdson was very helpful! Thank you again for sharing your beautiful home and we are looking forward to staying again!!!

This house is just great. Everything you need in a vacation house is present, there is a lot of space and privacy.
Although we rented this house for 2 persons, there is plenty room for 6 people, with all rooms having a private bathroom.

I had the pleasure of spending time at Birdsong when all I wanted to do was to get away from it all and this certainly filled the bill with all the home comforts added inside the spacious and well maintained dwelling.
Outdoor relaxation could be spent at the enclosed heated pool, in the large garden or having an afternoon nap by the lake which just happened to be conveniently located ot the foot of the garden.
For days when out and about was called for ----beautiful beaches and a good selection of restaurants were within easy reach.
In short my stay at Birdsong was really enjoyable and well worth the travel involved and as indicated above I can highly recommend.

We have stayed at Birdsong three times. We absolutely love the peace and quiet and the lovely setting. The villa is definately the nicest one in the area...and the pool area is private and catches the sun all day long.
The villa itself is very homely inside..it feels like coming home each time we are there.
We would definitely recommend Birdsong to anyone.
