Additional Location Information

St Ives Cottage is located close to the bayside beach at Rye on the Southern Tip of the Mornington Peninsula. There is a beach approximately 500 metres away from the house where swimming is perfect and its only a 10 minute walk from there to shops and restaurants. Rye itself has a pier, large childrens playground, the famous Octopussys Garden and the fair is located on the foreshore during the summer holidays.

The historic township of Sorrento is only a 10 - 15 minute drive away toward to furthermost tip of the Peninsula, here you will find beautiful shopping for clothes, furniture, food, art and antiques. From here you can also get the ferry across the bay to Queenscliff for either a visit and a return journey or to take your car and start your journey down the Great Ocean Road. Sorrento is also your access to Portsea and the Point Nepean National Park where you will find the historic Quarantine station, and the Point Nepean Fortifications and learn how it was used to defend the country. The beaches here are sublime with nobody around and no view of any sorts of residence just ocean and perfect beaches.
In the opposite direction from the house it is another 10 - 15 minutes by car to the hinterland of Red Hill and the wineries and food producers. Spend time amongst the 60+ wineries, enjoy tastings of olives, cheese, chocolate, beer, fruit to name but a few or visit the mazes at Ashcombe or the fun filled adventure mazes and tree surfing and tube sliding at the Enchanted Maze.
Only minutes down the road is the reknowned Peninsula Hot Springs where you can bathe in the natural hot springs and relax in the mineral pools and spas or indulge yourself and have a private treatment. There is also a cafe here so spend all day.

So much to do on the Mornington Peninsula and we have only mentioned what is around and about the house within a 10 minute drive...just imagine what you could find a little further afield!?A region famous for its breathtaking coastal scenary, world class food and wine, national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, historic villages, aquatic adventure, arts and culture, shopping and natural hot springs, not to mention world class golf courses. You can't come here for less than 3 days to appreciate even a taste of what is on offer.
