I searched and searched for a unit that would accommodate our strange family needs. Grandma was traveling with us, so we needed a second bedroom that did NOT include a double bed, as our teenage daughter would be sharing a room with her.
And since out two sons are young adults, we wanted a place where they could have some privacy and space to spread out. One son was graduating from UNF, and he wanted to be able to invite some friends to visit befoe we headed back to the midwest. So a few extra beds were desired for that purpose.
This place was perfect for our particular sleeping needs. There were two bedrooms upstairs, a master and a second with two twins, as well as a bathroom and laundry area. The main floor had the kitchen, 1/2 bath and living room.
The unit on the bottom floor was an efficency, which included it's own kitchen, laundry, bathroom, TV, and large living/sleeping area with a murphy bed and a futon- and opened out to the beach. So my 20-something sons were able to have their own place to crash and entertain friends.
It really was a nice location...just steps from the beach. But I was disappointed that it was a bit run-down. It wasn't BAD, but just lacked any real polish. Doors and baseboards showed the age of the unit, in spite of possibly attempts to update several yrs ago.
The main door lock with fussy- and required some jimmy-ing to get in.
The A/C crapped out on us the last night we were there. I have a feeling that it also happened to the previous renters, as when we arrived, the unit had a musty smell- as if the windows had been opened to allow for a nice breeze off the ocean.
On departing, we threw in some laundry in the basement unit, but the washer didn't seem to be working properly.
The stairs between the upper and lower units were very plain and a little scary. It felt like you were heading down to "grandma's basement."
The biggest "miss" for this unit was a lack of outdoor grill.
We did, however get to use the neighbor's grill one night...they were very friendly.
The maintenance guy showed up just as we were getting ready to leave the unit, so I was able to fill him in on all the necessary fixes. But it was a bit weird that he just walked in...didn't even knock.
I would recommmend this unit to those who may have the same sleeping arrangement needs that we had, but probably not for any other reason.
