Turtle Cove Villa Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean
Turtle Cove Villa Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean
Turtle Cove sits on a high coral cliff overlooking the sweeping arc of Foul Bay Beach on the southeast coast of Barbados. From this unique vantage, you can watch the sun rise out of the Atlantic and the sea turtles feeding below. If what you are looking for is perfect tranquiltity, privacy without isolation, security and serenity--but with every contemporary convenience--you will find it at Turtle Cove.
The house itself is an excellent example of island vernacular architecture, a three bedroom, two bathroom bungalow with shuttered windows on four sides and a wide verandah along the east and south side of the house, which face the beach and ocean.
The house has a 20 metre shared pool, set on the coral cliff with a spectacular view of the beach and bay below. This is a perfect pool for swimming laps or just having a relaxing dip after sunning on the wonderful pool deck. The deck itself has two gazebos, one for relaxing in the shade and the other with a bar, small fridge, sink and BBQ. There is also a bathroom and shower in this area. One of the most magnificent features of this pool is the infinity edge which overlooks the cliff and sea below giving one the impression of the sea being an extension of the pool.
Perfect for families of up to six, or two or three couples vacationing together, Astra offers casual comfort, seclusion, and easy access to one of the least-crowded beaches on the island of Barbados, all within 10 minutes of the airport and 30 minutes of Bridgetown.
The weekly rate includes daily maid service. Upon request, the services of an experienced cook, who can prepare the local seafood and island specialties, is also available for an additional charge.TripAdvisor property ID 3746223...Read more

Four of us, two couples, spent a week at astra/Turtle Cove, in July 2011. The villa has 3 double bedrooms, 1 en-suite, and is very comfortable. We had the service of a delightful maid. The villa has verandahs on two sides which make lovely sitting areas, especially in the mid-day sun. The villa in near a (fenced) cliff overlooking Foul Bay, with beautiful atlantic views. There is a stunning infinity pool with adjacent shaded area, in the complex. The villa's location makes it an excellent base from which to explore the eastern, and northern, relativly undeveloped sides of the charming island of Barbados.

We spent two weeks at Turtle Cove, recently renamed "Astra," in March 2011 as well as during the previous four years.
The jewel of the property is the swimming pool overlooking the atlantic. The house itself is a very comfortable bungalow with nice indoor and outdoor lounging areas and a good kitchen that is completely equipped with dishes, etc.
There is excellent Internet connection and, of course, telephone.
Astra is on the atlantic side of the island, away from the general tourist area but with convenient shopping and sightseeing a short drive away.
There is a local grocery not too far and an excellent North american style supermarket at Six Roads, about a 15-minute drive away. For a quick informal meal, there is a local deli called Cutters and for fancier fare, the Cranes, a hotel/condo restaurant development.
We had various family members and acquaintances visit us during our stay and our grandchildren, whose parents rent a place nearby, loved the pool.
We engaged the services of Junie, the household help, on a part-time basis. Lynn, the property manager, was always available for advice about the local scene. People in Barbados are friendly when being asked for directions.
All in all a very relaxing family vacation.Highly recommended. The prices is very reasonable compared with local hotel rates.
