The cottage, built in 1991, has all that you will need for a great vacation getaway. You'll love the open floor plan of the living/dining area with the pass-through window to the kitchen.
Since we spend our winters here every year and know the home so well, we can offer you a cottage in excellent condition. Considering the yearly enhancements and continued routine maintenance, we know our cottage will provide you with a vacation that is as free from problems as possible. This is one of the many things that makes our cottage stand out among the rest. We are here every year to take care of it all.
The master bedroom has its own bathroom, but if you check out the floor plan (last item in the group of photos) you can see that the second bedroom can be considered to have its own private bathroom as well. That bathroom, just off the dining area, is within the alcove entrance to the second bedroom. The outer door of the alcove can be closed off at night creating another private bedroom/bathroom master suite. This makes the home ideal for one or two couples or for families with children. We also have a highchair and a fold-away portable crib available. There is a dining area that seats four plus, another dining area in the screened porch, and a patio dining set for four on the back deck. The living room has two comfortable couches, a flat screen TV, games, and books. There is also free WiFi and AT&T; U-verse U300 with 360 channels including STARZ, ENCORE, SHOWTIME, the Movie Channel, and FLIX. The bedrooms also have flat screen TVs with access to U-verse.
The outdoor areas (including screened porch, open deck, and front porch) are wonderful for relaxing around the house. However, the front porch is truly our favorite spot with comfortable cushioned chairs, rocking chairs, a porch swing and a great porch railing at the perfect height for putting your feet up while having your morning coffee or sipping a glass of wine.
Pets are welcome. The backyard is enclosed. There is even a washable dog bed and feeding dishes available for our 4-legged friends. However, we are sorry to note that due to insurance restrictions there are certain breeds we cannot allow such as Pit Bulls, Dobermans, Rottweilers, Chows, German Shepherds, or Presa Canarios.
As new owners in 2013, we made many improvements to the property while we were snowbirding during the winter/early spring. We removed the carpet and put down wood flooring. We installed a new dishwasher and water heater and replaced all shower heads and faucets. There is a new blue ray player and flat screen TV in the living room and a DVD player and flat screen TV in the master bedroom. There is also a flat screen TV in the 2nd bedroom. Outside in the front we built a paver path and put in many new plants in the front yard.
Our 2014 improvements included a large deck out back and an outdoor hot water shower, new deck furniture, and landscaping in the backyard (including a Meyers lemon tree and grapefruit tree). We made another big improvement at the request of several of our guests last year. We added fencing and gates to completely enclose the backyard so pets can roam freely.
This past winter/early spring 2015 on St Simons Island was great! We had plenty of time to relax, but we also made more enhancements to make the cottage even better. We replaced the living room furniture with a new sofa and loveseat and coffee tables, painted both bathrooms and the kitchen, added a new ceiling fan in the living room, bought a new TV for the 2nd bedroom, built a new paver path out the back door, and replaced the roof. We also built a raised bed in the back that serves as our vegetable garden in the winter and flowers for you in the warmer months. We hope you enjoy all we have done.
Another benefit of renting from owners who consider the cottage as home for four or five months every year is that you are sure to have all the comforts you would need. The kitchen is fully stocked with quality appliances, dishes, pots and pans, spices, and many other items you would need for those who enjoy eating in. In addition to providing the basic essentials such as typical items like toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, and tissues, we also provide plastic wrap and bags, laundry supplies, hand soap, dishwasher soap, coffee filters, spices, and beach towels and cart. There is even a small cooler with those blue ice things in the freezer ready for you first day on the beach. We really have everything you need!
We have had the best guests and are excited about continuing to share our home as a vacation rental that is both warm and inviting. Our overall philosophy is to have you arrive at a home that has what you need without having to immediately run out to Winn-Dixie. Yes, you will need to get food, but at least that can wait until you have had a good night's sleep and your morning coffee…you will even find a packet of coffee for your first morning in the cottage. We truly make every effort to provide you with a comfortable home away from home, great service when needed, and an overall ideal vacation experience. Enjoy!...Read more

Additional Location Information
Short walk to village and beach. Located on one of the more tree-canopied streets on the island, our home will provide you with the perfect vacation getaway you have been looking for. The live oaks that cover this area give you the feeling like you are in your own world. Once you park your car under the carport in the back, you may not need to use it again during your stay.
We are in a convenient location at the south end of the island, just about a 10-minute (0.4 mile) walk to the beach and 15-minute (0.7 mile) walk to the village. We are also centrally located to many great restaurants and fun activities for the whole family to discover.
Cummings Lane is a very cozy, quiet, and peaceful location. It is only one block long with more people walking than driving. The trees and landscaping provide a sense of privacy and seclusion from neighbors. It is truly our favorite street on the island.

Our stay at Art and Linda's Island Cottage was fabulous. The cottage was completely equipped, very comfortable, clean, and within walking distance to the beach and village. Art and Linda are great hosts and very willing to help in anyway they can.
To all our guests from 2014, thanks so much for a great year. We’re so appreciative of how much you help us out and in return we simply want to provide a great vacation home for you, our guests. From the reviews and individual comments we’ve heard back from many of you it seems that we are doing just that. All we can say is that it makes us feel great. We truly care and understand the importance of your vacation to you.
We had a great winter/early spring at the cottage this year as we continued to enjoy our time on the island while enhancing the cottage with improvements for everyone to enjoy. We also took care of our usual maintenance to provide you with the best possible, hassle-free vacation we can. The only surprise we want for you is to realize how much you love it here!
Corresponding with many of you over the last few years has been fun for us and has helped to make our experience at managing our own vacation home great. Thanks, and we hope to hear from many of you for another visit.

This cottage was so much nicer than I even expected! Clean, comfortable, best location.
The owners went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience. Absolutely loved their outdoor shower, screen porch, and the huge new deck.
They even promptly mailed me some clothes I had left in a dresser drawer! Art and Linda are tops in my book and I will be returning!

My husband and I had three nights reserved for his past week, along with our two West Highland Terriers, Trevor and Katie. Art and Linda were great from the get-go! We received a telephone contact before anything, to get acquainted. It went smoothly from there. We knew what to expect, and were made to feel welcome for every aspect of our first visit to St. Simons Island. We were so sad by the second night, knowing the next day would be our last. We checked the calendar and realized the night after was not rented. My husband called art and were were thrilled to be able to rent it as well, spending four nights. There is a collection of books, booklets, pamphlets and magazines full of everything you will need, including maps, to discover the surrounding Islands near St. Simons. This little home really is a "home away from home!" Each time I thought of something that we had forgotten, we checked, and found out that sure enough, Art and Linda had provided it. We could not have asked for better service. Plenty of fresh sheets, light and heavier blankets, big, thirsty towels, kitchen utensils/gadgets, soap for the washer/dryer as well as laundry baskets! They even supply charcoal and lighter for the barbecue! It is relaxing, cozy, quiet, clean, efficient place to vacation. From a cozy bed to sleep in to coffee on the front porch in the morning to barbecue on the screened in porch for supper, this house is wonderful. We slept like babies, and so did the dogs. Everything is within walking distance or a short drive. We visited Jekyll Island with the dogs, and had a nice picnic. Thank you so much, Art and Linda! This little beach house and your hospitality made our vacation more than just memorable. They made it unforgettable.

Art and Linda's cottage and the owner's made us feel right at home the minute we opened the door! It is comfortable and well stocked, clean and in a very peaceful neighborhood. The only thing we needed to provide was a few groceries for meals and snacks to get us through the week. If you are bringing your pet, there was a nice doggy bed in the house and their street is perfect for dog walks. Only minutes from the beach, walking there or to the village is a pleasant stroll of 10-15 minutes, with little traffic and lots of homes and parks to walk by/through. If you are looking for a relaxing, homey rental cottage, we think you'll get your money's worth staying there. We'll be back again!

We had a fun week in St Simons and enjoyed our stay in your darling home. Thank you for all your thoughtful touches...like the delicious bottle of wine that greeted us after a long day of travel. We enjoyed the screened porch for eating breakfast and playing games at night. We found the location to be convenient to the Village, beaches and restaurants.

What a wonderful place to spend a week and unwind and see the dogs unwind also. Art and Linda we're wonderful to work with and our thanks to them for providing a very comfortable place with all the things a person could possibly want or need. Our weather was not great so we got to spend a lot of time in the cottage, i.e., we never had the opportunity to walk to the village or sit, at night, on the front porch. However, no problems and no complaints! We will definitely come back to the cottage. It left a very good taste in our mouths.

We felt so much at home staying here! The owners were friendly and very helpful when making plans to vacation in a place we had not been before. The rental definitely provides much privacy compared to other places we saw because of it's location and fences that separate the homes all around. For those who love to walk everywhere and leave the car at home, this is definitely a place to stay. We walked often to town where there are many nice shops, and places to eat and be entertained. For those who like some adventure, we enjoyed biking around St. Simons as well as Jekyll Island to the south. We totally enjoyed our kayaking tour through the marshes out to the ocean. When we felt like the beach, it too was an easy walk mostly through enjoyable side streets. The rental itself is well cared for, spacious and comfortable. The separate bathrooms for each room made it very easy for all of us who stayed. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of both the screened in and open porch. Definitely places to hang out, relax, and enjoy the live oaks that surround you. We are so happy to have found this place and look forward to coming again.

We enjoyed our stay at this cottage very much. The location was great - only a few blocks to the beach and a nice walk to the village. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and had a very well-equipped kitchen with everything I needed. I loved just sitting on the front porch and will definitely stay here again on my next trip to the island. The owners were great to work with too.
