The house is situated on an acre of land in a park-like setting surrounded by the vineyards of the Entre Deux Mers, part of the Bordeaux wine region in south west France. The 17th century stone house has been completely restored and furnished to a very high standard with all the modern conveniences. The house consists of a large living room, mezzanine, separate dining room, gourmet kitchen and two bedrooms. We live in a rural setting, surrounded by vineyards, 5 minutes from the historic town of Castillon-La-Bataille. It is a picturesque setting on the edge of the Dordogne Valley looking at the wine chateaux on the side hills. There is a recreational area within one kilometer where you can rent boats, fish, swim, rent seadoos, dine and dance.
Many hill villages and bastide towns are nearby with history from the 100 years war and the wars of religion. Wine visits can be easily arranged to the great chateaux of the Medoc(1 1/2 hours), Pomerol(20 minutes), Saint Emilion(15 minutes), Pessac-Leognan and Graves (1 hour), and Sauterne(1 1/4 hrs). The property is also surrounded by the vineyards of the Entre-du-Mers with hundreds of chateaux to visit and buy wine.
The Dordogne Valley with its limestone caves, cave paintings and beautiful hill villages is an accessible 2 hour drive. We are 45 minutes from Bordeaux and 1 1/2 hours drive from the Atlantic coast with its beaches and seafood. Biarritz and northern Spain are a 3 hour drive on the autoroutes.
You need a car to get around in rural France and the roads are excellent and and parking is provided on site.
