La Maison du Meunier is an independent cottage located in the heart of Provence between Saint Remy and Avignon on the grand historic estate of LE MOULIN DE LA ROQUE, a stunning twelve acre gated estate.
Completely secluded and calm, the Moulin is accessible by two private drives and is surrounded by a 250 hectore forest on one side and a beautiful flowing stream on the other.
Walk into our quaint village of Noves (an authentically french provencal village, no tourists) where you can enjoy the local cafés, open air market, or pick up your daily baguette at a charming boulangeri. Or, take one of the paths leading off the main garden and enjoy incredible vistas of the Les Alpilles on over 370 acres (150 hectares) of forest and hiking trials.
We, Baron & Baronne Guy Fallon (Guy and Gaby), are your hosts and welcome you to stay on our estate, our home.
You will of course be as independent as you wish however there is a great advantage to having the owners, such as us, on site.
Nothing can ruin a vacation more than if you should have a problem in your house. With many private home rentals, you will have to contact an agency who in turn will contract for the work (and in Provence, you never know when this help will arrive as we are very relaxed here).
We have a full time staff to take care of your problems immediately if they should occur. In addtion, we are here to provide you support for translation, introduction into the french and provencal cultures, touring advice, restaurants, medical assistance as needed and any other thing you may need, even it if is just to borrow a cup of sugar.
It is our goal to assure as much as possible that your vacation and your experience with us and in Provence is a fantastic and memorable one.
This adorable cottage, built in the early 19th century, was home to the head miller responsible for all the activities of running Moulin de la Roque. It is perfect for a small family, romantic couple, or traveling friends. Standing alone and separated from the other cottages, there is a nice view of the estate, the southern garden and lawn and the stream behind. The stone terrace is covered with Wysteria which is stunning when in bloom and when not, provides shade and cool ambiance.
Staying in la Maison du Meunier, located on the historic estate of Moulin de la Roque will place you in the heart of Provence, between Saint-Remy-de-Provence, Avignon, the Luberon, Chateauneuf du Pape and the Pont du Gard. All are just an easy short drive away.
You can enter La Maison du Meunier through double french glass doors from your stone terrace or from a second entrance coming from your private parking space located just next to the house. The living area with original wooden beamed ceilings is cozy and decorated with antiques from Baron Fallon's family, which you will see present in most of the cottages and lodgings. A fireplace also adorns this lovely room as well as a large flat screen television, DVD player and stereo. Tucked to the side you will find a powder room with toilet and sink.
Just around the corner, your eat-in kitchen has the charming ambiance of the true provencal kitchen decorated in traditional tiles, wooden cabinets and armoire beamed ceilings and stone walls. There are all the modern conveniences, dishwasher, microwave, expresso machine, food processor, blender, convection oven and anything else you may need to prepare your Provencal cuisine. A extra room has been attached to expand the storage, and include a larger fridge / freezer and a washing machine.
Upstairs you will find two bedrooms with exposed beamed ceilings and original stone walls. Cheerful Provencal fabric adornes the windows. Relax as you open the windows and hear the flowing stream as you sleep.
There is one full bathroom in travertine marble with large tub/shower and vasque marble sink. The toilet is located in a private room apart from this bath.
This house is warm, cozy and is a true piece of Provencal paradise.
Over many years, we have tastefully renovated our 300 year old mill into an enchantingly attractive setting, resembling a small provencal village (an unusual feature to find on such a traditional estate in Provence), keeping all the history and restoring with great care each structure to provide comfort, charm and modern conveniences.
Each year, we continue to renovate and update the estate with tasteful charm and careful attention to detail.
Each farmhouse is spacious, independent private and neatly nestled into the ambiance of the old mill and grand estate. The estate itself is very spacious and you will not feel the presence of others except as you pass each other perhaps on the lane to Noves or at the pool, which is also quite large and tranquil.
An expansive lawn allows for beautiful views and lots of space to run or play for the children.

We stayed here in February 2013. Guy and Gaby were the most wonderful hosts. Our villa was warm and cosy during the winter. We used the fireplace in the lounge at nights which was cosy and warm. The villa is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. We were only able to stay 3 nights, but look forward to returning next time we are in Provence.

we've stayed at Moulin de la Roque for 10 days during June 2011. we're a couple with a young baby
We absolutely recommend this place for anyone looking for a good base for exploring the provence, specifically the saint remy region, the alpilles, luberon, avignon, etc...
location is great, the infra is perfect, the provencal style of the houses, the pool, the garden.
Noves is a nice (very) little town and is only 5/10 minutes away by foot. (or 3 minutes by bike!)
We were there with our 2 year old baby, and the place is very safe overall for toddlers. the pool is very well protected, no cars or internal roads, etc... (inside the house is important to watch out for some dangerous stairs, but there was a door to protect that)
for those that like to do some cyclo-tourism, the region has lots of small roads to explore with very limited traffic. is important to do some map research befor hitting the road, to be sure that we got the smaller roads. there are even a few bike circuits through vecinal roads, with almost no cars at all.
Besides all of that, the owners Guy and Gaby were really nice people and they do make extra efforts to make guests feel very comfortable and to visitors with any special requests or problems (I had a problem with my car, which i accidentally got stuck in a nearby road. Guy helped me at 1am in the morning, always with a great mood!). They also have lots of tips about places to visit in the regions, restaurants, insiders tips, etc... (they won't push, so they'll offer advise only if you ask).
