We offer a large, comfortable 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom "eco" house with a double futon in the living room (sleeps an extra 2 people), just steps to the water, surrounded by palm thatched ramadas (verandas) (we do require a 3 night minimum reservation). The house is located 30 miles south of town. San Felipe is a sleepy fishing village with no connection to drug wars or gang violence. This is a total get away, authentic Mexico. No phones, no TV, just the beauty of the Baja desert and the glorious sea lapping at your doorstep. Watch the sun and the moon rise from the sea of Cortez, go fishing or buy fish from the fishermen as they land their catch on the beach in front of you. Swim, walk on the beach, lay in a hammock, enjoy life.
Guests will have access to miles of beautiful empty beaches, a sea full of delicious fish to catch and spectacular starry nights.
We will be on site to greet and explain how the house works using solar power and tank water. We will check in regularly and will be available for troubleshooting but we will leave our guests to enjoy the comfort and privacy of the house
You will be driving through some stunningly beautiful scenery. Our house is south of town and you will want to stock up on your supplies in town where there is a modern supermarket and also many smaller grocery stores. There is a small tienda (store) and a restaurant 2 miles up the road that has some basic supplies.
The trip down is via the border towns of Calexico (USA) and Mexicali (Mexico. There is a good road all the way from the border. Some roadwork is being currently done to widen the road. Our house is south of town and you will want to stock up on your supplies. There is a small tienda (store) and a restaurant 2 miles up the road that has some basic supplies.
The house is off the grid, with a solar electric system...a propane stove and water heater, wood burning pot bellied stove and underground and rooftop tanks holding mountain spring water. The house is very comfortable but the price of green living is no A/C, no hair dryers and conservative use of limited resources. We do have a large refrigerator which keeps food and beer very cold. We want our guests to understand that this is a Baja solar beach house. Showers have to be short, lights have to be turned off. With a minimum of mindfulness, you can have a fabulous vacation with no snags.
Review from our first guests -
"We had an amazing time at Rachel and Chulu's beachfront bungalow. From sunrise to sunset we enjoyed bird-watching, and relaxing on the patio. The house was spacious and clean. It was a great spot on hunker-down for a few days and ring in the new year! Thanks for a wonderful experience!"TripAdvisor property ID 3025809...Read more
