First of all, let me say that my family thoroughly enjoyed staying in the Sobel's home. Prior to our visit in July, 2015, Dan was very helpful answering questions about staying in San Francisco. As a first time visitor to SF, I had many questions, and Dan was wonderfully helpful in providing us with information and tips. Additionally, upon arrival, there is a notebook with information about the house and the area that was an oft referenced resource.
Travelling as a family of 5, with two teens and a pre-teen, this house was fantastic! It accommodated all of our needs and exceeded our expectations. With plenty of space to unwind at the end of a busy day, or just relax before heading out to sight-see, we felt right at home. The wi-fi was strong enough to support all of the devices running simultaneously throughout the home.
The grocery store just down (literally) the street was convenient. We picked up breakfast and snack items and made the short walk back up the hill to the house. We also visited a local bakery for fresh baked goods - again within walking distance.
If you are debating between a rental car and relying on public transit, let me offer this. We debated this, and ended up using a rental car. This worked out quite well. We enjoyed the freedom of having a car, and managed to always find parking at our destination without too much trouble. One note, parking in the drive really isn't an option, as the walls along the driveway prohibit doors from being opened fully.
