“Convenient and comfortable with lovely views of the Tuscan count”

We arrived at La Doccia in the rain and were greeted by the friendly owners and shown where everything was, and then left to settle in.
The rain soon cleared up and we walked the 10 minutes up towards the Porta San Matteo and went to one of the restaurants Il Trovatore just outside the gate, which had been recommended in the comprehensive and helpful manual (in English) in the villa. We loved it and went back again another time on our stay.
The Villa La Doccia was spacious and comfortable and with warm autumn weather we lunched on the patio looking out over classic Tuscan scenery and swam in the pool. It was well equipped for cooking, although we often ate out in the evenings as we were spoiled for choice in San Gimignano and the neighbouring villages.
San Gimignano is well placed for day trips - we went to Siena and the Chianti region by car, and Florence by train. San G itself is beautiful with its towers and piazzas and we had a lovely time at Mass in the beautiful church in the centre and the Sunday market afterwards. There are lots of lovely alimentari providing breads, cheeses, pestos and salumi for lunches and picnics. We also frequented the bar just inside the Porta Matteo for coffee, gelati and free wifi.
All in all, we had a great time, and with our separate entrance, private garden and pool area, we had fun pretending the villa was ours for the week.
“Great location - a wonderful place to spend a relaxing week”

The villa really is only 10 minutes walk into San Gimignano, and on a ridge with lovely views in all directions. We had no problems walking home late in the evening, though there is no footpath along the 250 metre stretch of road which runs alongside the villa down from Sam Gimignano.
Everything was clean and tidy, and we found the kitchen more than adequate (though there was no oven).
We benefitted from some autumnal sunshine, and made use of the lovely outdoor pool which had been kept open for us.
“Poor holiday villa totally reliant on it's position”

Poor standards of cleanliness in and outside. One member of our party had to seek medical advice twice due to insect bites from long grass around pool(this was disinfected on our leaving day!)Broken loungers and umbrellas around pool which was cleaned only once. The owners showed no interest in the quality of our holiday to the extent that they went away for a weekend making it impossible for us to obtain the handsets to operate the air-conditioning during a very hot period.
La Doccia is a lovely property that we have been renting for many years and is occupied for most weeks of the season. The property is well maintainted and someone is always available (if not the owners themselves the owners family) who live on the premises: Plus we are also available at all times should there be any problem with the properties or the facilities. Nothing was reported at the time, therefore we and the owners were unaware of all the issues mentioned above. Had we been we could of course investigated and resolved the matters. The loungers around the pool are replaced every two years. These can become a little worn or discoloured due to the sun and heat, but upon checking they are not broken. They will however be replaced as usual next year.

“Convenient location walking distance (350m) to San Gimignano”

We have travelled to Tuscany on 3 previous occasions staying in and around the San Gimignano area as this is an ideal base to explore the delights of Tuscany.
On this trip we were looking for a villa within easy walking distance of San Gimagnano to allow the oppotunity to enjoy the evenings without the hassle of having to drive and park and to wander into the town to enjoy a good wine, lunch and watch the tourists pass by in their rush to see all.
We discovered La Doccia on the net and checked with our good friends at La Bella Toscana. This villa is situated within an easy 350 meter walking distance to San Gimignano.
Our hosts were very friendly with a warm bon giorno and buena sera but at the same time respect our privacy. The views from the villa are picture book Tuscany rolling hills, olive groves, vineyards, and Cypress trees. San Gimignano viewed from the bar b que area was a delight in the morning and the evening we never tired of the view.
The villa is excellent with two
bedrooms each with its own bathroom upstairs, downstairs a practical kitchen dining area and a lounge or alternatevely a third bedroom. Other amentities included a full size pool and bar b que area. Note make sure you stay when the cherries are in fruit they are the best ever!
Villa La Doccia is an ideal location to base yourself to explore Tuscany and the delights of San Gimignano.
