Interaction with Guests
We're here in the Bay Area, so let us know what you need!
The house is on a sweet and quiet, tree lined street and is walking distance to lively downtown San Rafael.
Downtown San Rafael has a multitude of diverse dining options - Thai, Italian, Indian, Mexican, Japanese, take your pick! Shopping in downtown San Rafael is a delight with lots of small boutique shops, bookstores, specialty shops, banking.
From April through October is the Thursday night Farmers Market on 4th Street. It is quite lively with numerous live music performers, lots of food and lots of vendors, and organic fruits, flowers, and vegetables.
San Rafael is also home to the Fenix Club, a state of the art live music venue, and there are plenty of notable wine bars along 4th Street.
San Rafael is the home to the distinguished and lovely Mission San Rafael. It is also home to the Marin County Civic Center, one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most distinctive architectural masterpieces.
The Dominican neighborhood is named after the university which the entire neighborhood encircles. It's a hilly little area right off the 101 with big trees and lots of character.
Interestingly, the university used to be a Convent and there are still 5 offices on the premises with super nice Sisters. There's a small wildlife preserve there and a guided walk should you be so inclined.
We love our weather in San Rafael! Very temperate for most of the year, San Rafael is generally regarded as having some of the best weather in all of the San Francisco Bay Area.
At the perfect midpoint between San Francisco (11 miles to Golden Gate Bridge) and the Napa/Sonoma wine countries (about 25 minutes to first winery), we are in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area!
Take in one of the most beautiful parts of California: fantastic vistas and hiking awaits on Mount Tamalpais, or hike, bike and picnic along the coast at the Marin Headlands, Muir Woods, Muir Beach, Stinson Beach, and nearby Sausalito.
Larkspur Ferry is 2 exits south.
The San Rafael Transit Center is a 10 minute walk where you can catch the Golden Gate Transit north or south.
Otherwise, bring your car. There's driveway and free (neighborhood) street parking.
Oakland Airport is closer mileage wise (25 mins with NO traffic) but unpredictable traffic wise. SFO is a pretty steadily 50 minute drive and the Marin Airporter leaves every hour for SFO from the San Rafael Transit Center.
Other Things to Note
