Cottage Profile Traditional English 1200 square foot cottage with 2 bedrooms, 2 lofts and a tree house, in the close-knit community of Red Bay on the shores of Lake Huron. This cottage provides plenty of space for the whole family as well as lots of nooks and crannies in which to find some solitude. The main living area is an open concept with a large flagstone fireplace as the focal point of the room, and cathedral ceilings for an airy feel. There is a large sofa and two sitting chairs for the family to unwind in while enjoying the fire on a chilly evening. This living area opens up into the kitchen which is complete with fridge, stove and microwave for your cooking pleasure. The kitchen features a breakfast bar with two stools so that the chef can have some company, as well as ample cupboard space and counter space to prepare meals. An attractive feature of the kitchen is the door leading out to a small stone courtyard where you will find the BBQ as well as a cast iron patio table and chairs for two. This is a nice shaded outdoor area - a great place to get out of the sun in the afternoon, or out of the winds off of Lake Huron, and still enjoy the outdoors. The kitchen opens up into the dining room where you will find a table and six chairs to comfortably fit everyone in your family. This is a nice and bright space with a window overlooking the side yard. There is a sitting room just off the dining room. This sitting room has two plush reading chairs, as well as a stereo with an impressive music collection. With windows that overlook the sunroom and an opening into the dining room, this is a bright, comfortable space for some downtime. The sitting room opens into the sunroom which is a bright room with numerous windows overlooking the waterfront. A love seat as well as a small table and chairs provide front row seating to the world famous sunsets over Lake Huron. There is also a telescope in the sunroom with which to explore the night sky on a clear night. There are two bedrooms on the main living level, both with double beds and nice size windows to let in the natural light. The second bedroom also features a cathedral ceiling. There are additional sleeping spaces at the cottage so that there is room for all six in the party, though they do present a safety hazard to young children. Two lofts at the cottage can be accessed by either a spiral staircase or a ladder. These lofts are at opposite ends above the main living area. They each have two single beds in them. They open into the living area below and there is no railing on either loft, so this is not a suitable place for children. The bathroom at the cottage is a four piece, with a shower as well as a beautiful claw foot tub, perfect for bubble baths! There is also an outdoor shower at the cottage, great for washing off the sand. There is a two-storey tree house outside with a pullout couch and plenty of windows for a nice, bright sleeping space. A patio door leads out to it's own private deck with two muskoka chairs and the best view at the cottage of the water. The railing on this deck is made of wire, and children should be well supervised in this area. There are a wide variety of different seating areas outside the cottage so that you can spend your day in or out of the sun. A two-tiered deck on the waterside of the cottage provides a patio set and lounge chairs to unwind in, and the shaded patio at the roadside of the cottage or the deck on the treehouse are the perfect alternatives. Lots of green space around the cottage means plenty of space for children to play. The shoreline at the cottage is a beautiful sand beach which makes for easy entry into the water, and a great place for the children to swim. The cottage is centrally located to many attractions. It's only a fifteen minute drive to Sauble Beach and Wiarton. There are 4 golf courses within 30 km, great hiking on the Bruce Trail 10 km away and the Bruce Peninsula National Park is a 40 minute drive. For cyclists there are plenty of paved back country roads to explore in the area, or for mountain biking there are great trails near Sauble Beach.
Additional amenities include: firewood provided, sunroom, umbrella, highspeed lite wireless internet, beds: 2 doubles, cd player, deck: large outdoor deck with 2 levels, floor area: 1200 square feet, plus an outdoor shower, water source: well, 2 muskoka chairs), 4 chairs, fireplace (wood burning), number of bedrooms: 4, outdoor shower, patio furniture (patio table, number of baths: 1 four-piece, 4 singles, 2 loungers, clothes line, telescope....Read more

The cottage was almost exactly how it was repsented online. Very clean inside, beautiful shallow waterfront and everything you would need for amenities. It's within sight of a park for kids, very shallow warm water, the kids loved the lofts. The lofts probably wouldn't be suitable for toddlers but shouldn't be a problem for children older than that. it's a short drive to Sauble Beach, there are loads of interesting place to explore nearby. We loved visiting this cottage.

- interior totally redecorated with a marine theme and wood paneling throughout

The cottage and setting is peaceful inside and out. There are a few spots inside to get away and read or nap, and the deck is spacious and provides nice water views. The kitchen is clean and has all the modern ammenities except a dishwasher. Nice spot for adults or older children, but the two sleeping lofts are open air and probably unsafe for small children.I would return to rent.

We were looking for a nice spot to get away to for a week in August and found Kennebunkport through a rental agency on the internet.
I have to say this cottage had it all, an outdoor gamesroom, badminton court, cozy accomodations with some lovely personal touches, it was perfect for our family of four, and just a short walk to a beautiful clean beach.
We would love to get back there soon for another getaway.

The Beach was the best selling point for us,
It is located in a sheltered bay and has thousands of minnows that the kids chased for hours. The location was simply beautiful. The only thing we did not like was the coarse, sharp grass on the trail to the beach.
