The Historic Lavinia Low House

Live History! This 1854 house was built by Lavinia Low after she "legally separated" from her husband, John Low in 1852, a most scandalous event! Located in the heart of the Landmark Historic District of beautiful Savannah, you are a 5 minute walk to famous Forsyth Park and Savannah College of Art & Design. River Street, "the Factor's Walk", along the Savannah River, and City Market are a 10-15 minute walk north of the house. My husband's favorite restaurant, "The Crystal Beer Parlor" is just around the corner, literally. The house sits between Pulaski and Chatham Squares and is two blocks from the Savannah Civic Center (the venue for many ...Read more

Additional Location Information

Enjoy walkable History, right outside your front door. The downtown Historic Landmark area of Savannah is all within walking distance. There are restaurants, shopping, tours and the Savannah Visitors Center just a 5 minute walk away. The Savannah College of Art & Design keeps Savannah young and hip. There's always something exciting going on at Forsyth Park, weddings, free concerts and events, the Farmer's Market, and playgrounds for the kids. The Juliette Gordon Low (founder of the Girl Scouts) and the first Girl Scout Headquarters are here. The best way to see Savannah is one of the tour buses that you get off & on as you please. City market has live music & my favorite pizza, Vinnie Van GoGo's. Savannah hosts the 2nd largest St. Patrick's Day celebration in the U.S. (most likely due to the open container law) and it is something everyone should see once! Ghost tours are a must. if you believe... If you seek sun & fun, head to Tybee Beach, (Georgia's little Secret) a 15 minute car ride and you'll feel like you flashed back in time to the 60's. Along the scenic drive to the beach is Fort Pulaski. If you need more history, the Tybee Lighthouse is one of the oldest, still working lighthouses! It takes more than one trip to Savannah to enjoy all it has to offer, that's why I moved here!
