Another one of Savannah's nice little surprises, this 1875 vintage townhome has a plain face to the street, but she is cozy, fresh, and modern inside --- with a stunning and surprising deck area out behind. It has the feel, accommodations and furnishings of a place you can call home no matter how long or short your stay. First floor: living room, half bath, and large eat-in kitchen. Second floor: Two larger bedrooms (queen beds) and full bath. A comfortable fold-out twin bed is hidden in the large leather ottoman in the living area. Oriental carpets on original wood floors in the living room, bedrooms, and halls.

This block of Taylor Street has large rear yards, and at this property that has been transformed into a great big shaded "architectural" deck area created by Yancey Siebert, a leading Savannah-based designer. The back yard features: (1) a brick courtyard leading up to (2) an oversized two-level deck around a gracious shade tree, with bamboo plantings, water feature, and brick walkways. The jumbo deck area is shared with a 3-bedroom near "mirror image" townhouse next door and with a 1-bedroom cottage at the rear of the property; either or both of them can be reserved with this one to accommodate larger groups such as for weddings, family reunions, and business group travel. See listings 1034 and 1035 for photos and descriptions of these properties.

Nearby: One and a half blocks to lovely Whitefield Square with the beautiful gazebo, and a short walk to Savannah's famous Clary's for breakfast or lunch, and to the Firefly Cafe on neighboring Troupe Square; close to beautiful Forsyth Park.

Lots of unrestricted parking right out front on the well-lighted street. The 500 block of East Taylor is a feast of architectural diversity, with several recent restorations and renovations. Taking her place among two-story wood homes, cute cottages, and impressive brick townhouses, this townhome is right in the middle of one of Savannah's many interesting quiet side streets, convenient to everything in the Historic District.

"Wonderful place for a large group in a great location!"

I came to Savannah with a large group to attend a benefit and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay or a better host. Tom was so helpful and checked in to make sure that we had everything we needed. The three units with the deck in the middle is ideal for large groups that want a community space. The location is walkable to downtown so everything was at our fingertips.

Booking the rental was easy and flawless. The home is cozy with all the comforts of home away from home. We enjoyed the full eat in kitchen ..it was our gathering spot to discuss the days adventures. The location is perfect to be able to walk to destinations and also easy access to the major roads. We liked the feeling of being a part of that community. Watching the "locals" walking to work or walking their dogs.
Liked having the ottoman in the living room as a bed. Only down side is we were there in the heat wave...over 100 degrees!...the air conditioning has the controls upstairs only...it was too cold downstairs and too warm upstairs. I do understand it was blazing hot outside and was probably taxing to the system.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying there and look forward to a return stay in cooler temperature.

This was the best place to stay! Very clean and very nice. It was also a great location to everything. Easy to find and was quiet. You could actually walk to alot of places. The owners are wonderful. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about the whole experience. My daughter found this place after searching for a couple of weeks.I hope that we will be going back soon and this is the place I want to stay again. We took my 82 year old Mother so we drove alot. She felt safe staying there. I liked the idea that the car was at the door so she didn't have very far to walk. We walked about 3 blocks the last night we stayed to a market and wasn't concerned about safety at all.

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay. The house is a good walking distance to almost everything in Savannah, with a quiet neighborhood as well. Everything was very clean upon arrival, and the directions were excellent. I really enjoyed my time here. Parking was plentiful and easily accesible, although once we arrived, we hardly used the car because everything was so close.

We really enjoyed our stay in the comfort of this beautiful historic setting! We came to SAvannah to attend a wedding and loved being so close and convenient to so many of the historical sights. We loved the yard and spent lots of time visiting out there with our son and daughter-in-law from Phoenix. It was very clean and neat and we really enjoyed having extra space to visit, versus a hotel room. We would gladly stay again and loved the setting. WE had so much fun walking to the different squares and shops. Thanks again .

This home was in the Savannah historic district, walking distance to the river, various historic sites, dining and a grocery store. We had a lovely relaxing time, we parked the car and walked everywhere. We brought the dog and also enjoyed many lovely dog walks. The home was just as advertised including a pleasant courtyard good for dogs and kids. The keyless entry was a good feature, didn't have to keep track of a key. We would stay there again.

The home is in a very nice part of Savannah, not far from Forsyth Park. It is about a 15 minute walk to River St but you can always ride the Trolley.
The inside of the house as a nice feel to it: older home with old hardwood floors that are in great shape as well as modern furniture.
A couple of issues I had with the house include: dishwasher was broken, sheets on my bed were not clean (had grit on them), dishwasher and sink still had dishes from previous visitor. That was about it. I would recommend this house but a couple small things should be addressed first. Thank you.
