Additional Location Information
The Courchevel ski area has something for everyone and whatever you feel like doing, so that you leave with unforgettable memories. Courchevel is also one of the resorts of the largest linked ski area in the world: Les 3 Vallées, with 600 kilometres of prepared and maintained pistes accessible to all levels of skiers. Out of the area?s 330 runs, 13% are green, 39% blue, 38% red and 10% black, which means that practically half of the runs are easy and half are for experts. The ski area was designed as much for beginners and children, as for experienced skiers. The latter might want to try their hand at the joys of off-piste skiing, supervised by mountain professionals, over the 400km² that make up Les 3 Vallées.
Les 3 Vallées is home to the most modern and comfortable ski lift network in the world: 180 ski lifts, including 2 cable cars, 33 gondolas and 38 high speed chair lifts. It?s quite simple really; highly efficient ski lifts = less waiting time and more skiing!
Thanks to natural qualities, high altitude (85% of the ski area is above 1800 metres), and regular ongoing investments in artificial snow production (2000 snowmaking machines cover 1/3 of the ski area), Les 3 Vallées can guarantee snow cover from the beginning of December to the end of April over the entire ski area, offering wide ski runs that are maintained nightly by 80 piste grooming machines. Les 3 Vallées is also one of the safest ski areas in the world, offering the very latest technology when it comes to both ski lifts and ski slopes (180 ski patrollers are in charge of safety over the whole ski area).
Discover panoramas and magnificent scenery stretching from the Mont Blanc massif in the north to the Les Ecrins massif in the south, as well as a unique view over the Swiss and Italian Alps to the north and east. In a few hours you can reach the summit of the Les 3 Vallées massif, the Pointe de Thorens (3266 m) at Val Thorens, by means of the efficient and rapid ski lifts in the area.

The Courchevel ski area is equipped with several themed fun areas, dedicated to the pleasures of winter sports, that are suitable for beginners and seasoned skiers alike:
ZEN zones: If this is your first time skiing, the ZEN Zones are there to ensure you can make progress in peace and quiet. These spaces are designed exclusively for children and families who want to get started with winter sports while remaining calm and at ease.
Stop Zone: If you want to test your braking abilities and see how good you are at stopping?! Get down to the Stop Zone, situated on the Grandes Bosses piste in Courchevel 1650. The aim of this test is very simple. Launch yourself down the in run track and stop as quickly as possible, by controlling your braking, as soon as you have completely passed the indicator marking the start of the stopping zone. If you manage to stop within the blue zone, your braking skills are up to scratch. If you stop in the red zone, you need to watch out!! You need to moderate your speed to match your ability level.
Avalanch' Camp: If you want to take a more technical approach to winter sports and mountain activities: the ski patrols are waiting for you every Wednesday and Saturday, from 9.30 am, at the Avalanch" Camp chalet, situated at the foot of the Suisses chairlift. The aim of this area is to make you aware of the dangers of the mountains and the risks you run by skiing off-piste.
"Indiens" piste: A piste specially designed for children who can set off in search of Grey Wolf!! The chief of the tribe is waiting for them to share the history of his people. He invites them to become a member of his tribe and has a host of fun activities in store to do with the Indian people.
Fun zones: For adrenalin junkies, come and see where you stand among your friends by attempting the Snow cross trail on the Loze piste, or come and try out the most impressive tricks and manoeuvres in the Courchevel Rail park. The aim of the Snow cross trail is as follows: four people start at the same time and the first to arrive at the bottom is the winner!! But take care: the piste is full of pitfalls!
Finally, Courchevel has 10 restaurants on the pistes to have lunch or a drink, get your strength back or simply recharge your batteries at high altitude, and 66 kilometres of cross-country ski runs through the forest to take you into the heart of the unspoilt countryside. Enjoy all the thrills of skiing down the pistes of the Saulire massif at between 1300 and 2700m between the forest and the high mountains.
After ski: To relax after a day in the cool air of the great outdoors, try one of the bars or pubs, tearooms or restaurants, whose quality and welcoming service have forged the reputation of the resort. Bars, pubs, pianos-bars, night clubs go out of their way to offer you concerts and theme evenings in a warm and friendly atmosphere. There is something for everyone, whatever your tastes at Courchevel: from gourmet restaurants (2 Michelin macaroons) to high-altitude restaurants, via traditional restaurants, Italian pizzerias or brasseries /snackbars.
Other activities: Courchevel's Olympic ice rink, built for the 1992 Winter Games.
The ice rink also offers evening events as well as skating galas.
