Casa Maravilla-Hidden Jewel in an Enchanted Settin
Casa Maravilla - loosely translated as "Wonderful House". And it is. It's a circular design with surprises at every view. This private haven has great trees, garden, and outdoor spaces. Perfect for bird-watching. The setting is in a perfect location with jungle and ocean views. A shady little haven and just a block and a half from the beach and a 10 minute walk from the charming village of Sayulita.
"We came to Sayulita for a wedding and were the envy of all our friends once they saw our amazing accommodations. This place is wonderful." Tim – Winnepeg, Canada
“This house is so comfortable an beautiful. Everyone connected with it has been completely helpful and friendly. Would definitely return – actually – why am I leaving??” March 2014
"We loved the house and location. Perfect really. Love the curvy design - pleasant breezes in every room. What wonderful architecture. And loved the mornings on the roof deck watching all the birds. Such a special home.” Ginny - San Mateo, CA
The first floor is a large ground level air conditioned bedroom (a king bed that may be converted for use as two twins). Also on this level is a utility area, and half bath, with outdoor shower. This ground floor area has a separate entrance from the main house. All sheets, towels, etc. throughout Casa Maravilla are high grade cotton and very comfortable. Excellent pillows as well, and plenty of them.
The next level has two large air-conditioned bedrooms and one bathroom - great shower - no tub. One bedroom has a double bed and the somewhat larger one has a king that can be converted to make two twins. Both bedrooms have generous work spaces for writing your next novel, etc. There is an additional blow up bed and a porta-crib available for a little one.
The next level up is the living/dining/kitchen area. There is dining for 10 at the two tables, a well appointed kitchen, two couches and a nice full bathroom (no tub). Also on this level are outdoor spaces with a view of the ocean over the coconut palms. The house design is pretty amazing - it's shady, cool, and breezy - and ceiling fans are everywhere, in addition to the air conditioned bedrooms.
On up the stairs to the rooftop floor one will find a beautiful rooftop area with additional dining area, comfy extra long banca, bath with shower, and a small pool. All of this is covered by a beautiful and dramatic palapa. Night times are especially magical up on the roof. The pool's about chest high - 12' or so in diameter - and great for relaxing, cooling off in the Summer, and whatever. The views on this level are pretty terrific - jungle, ocean, lovely neighborhood, etc.
"Que Bonita! Our first trip to Sayulita won't be our last and I know where we'll be staying from now on – Casa Maravilla has it all: pool, shade, quiet, hidden in the trees, great views and a wonderful rooftop palapa." Pat, Sarah, and Little Liana. Boise Idaho.
"What a fabulous vacation. Thank you for opening your house to us. We had many wonderful meals in the kitchen, and many lazy afternoons by the pool. It was exciting to watch our little girl learn to swim in the pool…After a night out on the town it was so wonderful to come back to your comfortable home." Mel, Jair, and Nova - British Columbia Canada
"Great vacation spot! What a beautiful house! Michael, you have a jewel here! We have seen such a variety of wildlife, and such a tranquil spot with great food. This place definitely rates a return visit. Thanks for a memory." Pete and Sue – CA

Very unique home built into a tree! The home was clean and had a lot of room. It looked breathtaking at night. The owner was fantastic to deal with as was the manager, cleaning lady & driver. Having boogy boards and umbrellas for us to use over our stay was appreciated! We were not comfortable sleeping in the bottom room as it is "separate" from main house so we all stayed in the main house. The deck and wading pool seemed bigger from the photos but it was still very nice. Take Michaels suggestions for places to eat they were all amazing!

This was our fourth Sayulita vacation and without a doubt, the most memorable. We were a family group consisting of six adults (3 couples) and the house was the perfect fit...allowing us to vacation together and also providing privacy for everyone. The house itself, is truly unique... the architural design, along with nice and comfortable furnishings ensured a relaxing stay. The home is extremely well equipped, everything was modern and clean. We had all the utencils needed to prepare meals at home and were a short walk away from beach eateries and a short walk to the town plaza where we ate at some fabulous restaurants. The location is totally private and as you are lounging around the rooftop pool you feel as if you are truly in a jungle paradise, the tropical vegetation, entertaining iguanas and the peacefulness of nature. Everything about our stay was perfect and everyone involved in the rental were helpful and accommodating. A beautful home in paradise.

We spent Christmas, with our adult children, at Casa Maravilla in Sayulita. We enjoyed the spaciousness, decor, privacy and the Casa's great location. Just a short walk to the quieter north-end beach, yet only a flat 10 minute stroll to the vibrant town center with restaurants and stores en route. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed, although other than morning coffee we did not use the kitchen facilities as the dining options in Sayulita are absolutely fantastic. Sayulita is a very safe and friendly town and Casa Maravilla was a wonderful place to call home during our stay. Thanks to Micheal and angela, the owners, who made the on-line rental so easy and informative and Lupe, our maid, who took care of us during our stay. The on-line pictures are a true representation. A note to travelers when booking accommodation in Sayulita - many places are indeed close to town, yet they are located up rather steep hills - Casa Maravilla, is, a flat easy stroll to town and back!

It's difficult to put into words how restful and tranquil our stay was at Casa Maravilla. Brilliantly designed, the house is perched on a hillside and hidden in the trees. It has a very private feeling and at the same time beautiful views of the ocean and hillsides. Open the windows while you're cooking dinner and a soothing ocean breeze blows through the house. We spent many days just laying on the hammock, reading on the roof under the palapa, and chilling in the pool. The town is charming and the beaches are fabulous, but the best part of our stay was the time we spent at Casa Maravilla. I only hope I can make this an annual pilgrimage, it is paradise.

We loved the villa. A really atmpospheric and comfortable space, great for kicking back and relaxing. Central but quiet and just an easy few minutes to the beautiful beach. Bedrooms very comfortable. Good a/C and nice mattresses/bedding. The top floor is ideal for hanging out either for a cool-off in the plunge pool or for having a drink after dinner.
