Higgins Beach, Baer's Cottage 1 block to beach

Located in what was once Higgins Beach's Baer's Place convenience store, this rental has a mix of old and new. Not your typical beach decor, but made for beach living. The open floor plan means you can all be together and still have your space.

It has three bedrooms, one with a king size memory foam bed. The second has a full size bed, and the third has a double bed with an extra thick futon mattress designed for sleeping. This is not your college futon. It sits on an ash frame that can be converted to a couch during the day if you need more space.

Situated one block from the ocean, you'll be a short walk from everything you need, including ...Read more

Higgins Beach

Need we say more?

For those who have not had the pleasure, check out Panoramio by Google or our Wix site for people's favorite photos.

Higgins is home to the best surfing in the State of Maine. We also have the remains of a historic shipwreck, the Spurwink river and miles of marsh, great for kayaks and canoes.

The Club House, a Higgins institution, lends the charm of days gone by with Wednesday morning breakfasts, frequent dinners, free concerts and poker night.

Great fishing--the beach is a favorite with locals and there is a local charter company if you prefer to cast further off shore.

Local Activities & Attractions

Follow the winding Spurwink Road a few short miles to Two Lights, home of the charming local restaurant the Lobster Shack and two wonderful light houses. One of the light houses is the subject of a famous Hopper painting. This site has panoramic views and you can't get closer to the rocky coastline than eating your lobster roll on the rocks with the waves crashing nearby. Then on to Fort Williams and Portland Head Light, one of the country's most photographed light houses.

Nearby U.S. Route 1 offers everything from great seafood and antiquing to amusement parks.

Just 15 minutes away is the city of Portland, with its shopping, charming Old Port, museums, fine dining and night life. Whale watching and ferry tours of Casco Bay are also close by. Click to see views of Portland.

We love introducing our guest to all Maine has to offer. Want the best local dives, the best fine dining, or the best place to spot a moose? Just ask.
