“A wonderful retreat!” We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Coach House. There was a cake awaiting our arrival! The owners were very helpful when a small problem arose and were on to fixing it straight away. The house is in a very quiet area with lovely surroundings. The coast is not too far away with lovely beaches and walks. We loved being there and enjoying the quietness.

“Great place, shame about the rain” We had a great week in Coldstream, the week of Flodden Field celebrations including torchlit procession and fireworks, lots of pipers, etc. Walks in the Hirsel Estate very calming and great trips around local towns and to the coast. A relatively easy drive to Edinburgh on our one sunny day. Facilities and layout very handy, especially for us - family of four with single friend who didn't need to be involved in all the squalor of family life. Rain among the most torrential we've ever seen and the river flooded at the end of the drive - all good fun as long as you don't get too hung up about it.

“Great quiet location - with noisy floorboards!” This is a lovely cottage situated in the grounds of an old courtyard. It's really lovely and quiet, and it provides easy access to the coast both in Scotland and England. There's some lovely quiet roads around, and an amazing pub in nearby Paxton. The only slight issue I had with the place was the noisy floorboards. If you needed to get up to the loo in the night it was impossible not to awaken the other half ;-)

Why Scottish Borders?

This region of South East Scotland shares a border with England and is renowned for its hospitality and stunning scenery. With a rich (often turbulent) history, you’ll find plenty to see and do here, including hundreds of vacation rentals in the Scottish Borders to choose from.

About the Scottish Borders

Whilst the area was once heavily fought over, with a reputation for lawlessness, things have changed and today it’s the friendly locals and rich history which draw the crowds. Home to towns such as Melrose and Jedburgh with their ancient abbeys, the area has links to Sir Walter Scott and Robert the Bruce, and is also known as one of the finest spots for salmon and trout fishing in the world.

What to Do

Stop off at Glenkinchie Distillery, home to the Edinburgh Malt, for a wee dram.

Top Scottish Borders Travel Tips

With vacation rentals in the Scottish Borders to suit all tastes, you can enjoy a relaxing break or the great outdoors on your trip here.

Fairydean Mill TreeTop Suite. Bed & Breakfast Rural Retreat Close to Edinburgh.
Perfect

This is an idyllic setting within walking distance of Barony Castle Hotel which was convenient, as our son's wedding reception was held there. David and Mandy were great hosts who made us feel very welcome, providing clean and comfortable rooms . We had an excellent cooked breakfast each morning with a wide choice home made breads and lemon curd made by Mandy . If I said it was the best B&B we have every stayed at , it would not be an exaggeration .see more

Perfect place to stay!

We loved our time in this apartment in Peebles. Very well maintained and great attention to detail. The location was amazing. Enjoyed the Beltane ponies from the front door. Appreciated the tourist information that was plentiful and well organized. If we had been there longer, we would have enjoyed the puzzles and books. The steep, curved steps were beautiful, although perhaps not for everyone. We very much enjoyed our time there!see more

Great place to stay

My family and I had a great time staying at Kersmaine cottage. It's a beautiful home away from home in a not too secluded location. W would love to stay there again and highly recommend it to others! Thanks Ashley H! … see more
THE COACH HOUSE, romantic, character holiday cottage, with open fire in
Very nice flat in old building

The Coach House is a ground floor 1 bed flat in an old coach house for a stately home demolished in the 1920s. It's a very attractive, quiet place, in a secluded part of the world. We've stayed there a couple of times for short quiet breaks, and love it. Short distance from the Lammermuir and Cheviot Hills, and also some very nice coastline and beaches. The village also has a very good pub for food. We'll definitely be back!see more

KENNEL COTTAGE

Excellent location, quiet, close to good pub, lovely village and fine area for walking and visiting. Kennel Cottage is immaculately presented with all you could need, but not to the unnecessary excess of some places. We will visit again as we love the Borders area.
