With so much to do in the local area, this charming property - which has accommodation for up to five people - is well located with a huge range of local amenities at hand. Situated in the small, unspoilt hamlet of Selside and about two and a half miles from Horton-in-Ribblesdale is this warm and welcoming cottage. This stone-built, semi-detached cottage was once a coaching inn and then a farmhouse and has now been carefully and tastefully refurbished to a high standard. The wood-burning stove and original timbers have been retained to give the property a cosy feel whilst the location, close to Three Peaks walking country, is bound to appeal to those who love the great outdoors.

The front door to the property is located on this road but can also be accessed via a side door.

Town: The lovely hamlet of Selside, situated in the heart of the famous Three Peaks, is made up of traditional dwellings surrounding the village green. Full of excellent walking over fells and the famous Three Peaks - Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough - this area offers some of the most challenging paths in the country. Also close by is the Settle to Carlisle Railway, which passes directly through Selside and takes in some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery the region has to offer. Completed in 1870 and only two miles away, the Ribblehead viaduct is a magnificent structure and well worth visiting. Nearby Horton boasts a lovely Norman church and two pubs whilst the market town of Settle offers a further range of amenities. Settle is also home to a pretty market square, a historic three storey building with shops on two levels as well as the Town Hall.

Very well informed of the facilities and surrounding area, pet and child friendly,if you stay inside! The front door and side exit were both very dangerous for pets and children due fast inconsiderate drivers both local and tourist.

We stayed in the cottage over Christmas 2011. Checking in couldn't have been easier, great neighbours to assist. Parking for more than one car is an issue as there is only a car port ( on shared land ) for 1 car. Great cottage in a lovely setting, but a little quiet - no shops, no pub etc..the nearest are approx 2 miles away but for more 'civilisation' Settle is approx 6 miles away. If your into your walking or cycling then the location couldn't be better but sadly for us with an 8 year old child there wasn't enough to keep us occupied, lovely cottage though, very clean.

a lovely cottage. very comfortable. lots of space and everything working perfectly. the only downside was that the stereo didn't work; so no music for the week. garden is tiny, but that's not so important in such a beautiful area of the country.

Overall very good clean cottage. Only down side was no clean bed linen left for second week, and road outside of cottage was very noisey with large lorries coming through very early in the morning which alway woke us up, then at weekends we had lots of motor bikes.

A very nicely appointed cottage with some character.Easy to use appliances and plenty of crockery etc.Our concerns about the road were quickly dispelled didn't hear the traffic after the first night/early morning lorry only once.As their is no mobile signal and an intermittent public phone box it would have been useful to know the nearest phone.The Settle to Carlisle railway is not to be missed.We would definely consider booking a cottage through Sykes again

The cottage was very well equipt and clean, however the weather was very cold during our stay and there was insufficient heating in the kitchen/diner. Also the woodburing stove would not stay alight, you need to put coal on it and there if a note requesting that you did not do this. I also think before you rent the cottage you should be advised that huge lorries thunder past the window from about 5.00am from the quarry up the road.

We were most impressed when we arrived at Selside. The cottage was larger than we expected, yet had character and charm and felt very cosy. We particularly enjoyed the large kitchen/diner. The cottage was spotless and contained everything we needed for our holiday - including information about places to see. The hamlet itself is small and pretty. We had an early evening stroll the night we arrived just to take in the scenery.
The cottage is on the main road, so lorries rumbling past tended to wake us in the morning, and you'd have to be careful with children/pets as the front door opens directly onto the road.
These are minor considerations though. Overall, we were delighted with the cottage and had a memorable stay.

Excellent service received from Sykes, easy to book and e-mail contact kept leading up to our stay. Good directions provided and we found the cottage easily enough. The cottage was all we expected and more, like home from home with all mod cons. Spacious bedrooms and the kids had more than enough room to explore. My only criticism is that as the cottage is located on the main road we were woken with the noise of lorries trundling past at 5.30am some mornings. Located close to Settle where found local supermarket and plenty of places to eat. Ingleton a nice little village to visit and Ingleton Falls a wonderful walk. My family enjoyed a superb week in this cottage and the surrounding area.

All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
