La residenza Le Antiche Mura si trova nel cuore di Semproniano, borgo storico dell’alta Maremma, strategicamente situato tra le verdi pendici del Monte Amiata e l’area termale di Saturnia. Frutto di un restauro fondato sul rispetto di materiali e tecniche originali, la residenza Le Antiche Mura è il luogo ideale per una vacanza che unisce il gusto per la tradizione ai comfort che renderanno il vostro soggiorno indimenticabile.
Quattro camere, due singole e due doppie: quattro stili differenti che ripropongono l’eleganza delle decorazioni originali, recuperate interamente a mano. Ogni camera è dotata di bagno con doccia, scrivania, armadio, TV e connessione internet wifi. A disposizione dei nostri ospiti ci sono inoltre la cucina, la sala da pranzo, la sala del camino, un salotto, la biblioteca ed un accogliente giardino segreto.
La residenza Le Antiche Mura deriva il proprio nome dalla sua posizione: l’edificio, il cui nucleo originario risale al XV secolo, insiste sull’antica cerchia muraria del paese, in prossimità della pieve romanica di San Vincenzo. Il giardino, unico nel suo genere all’interno del borgo antico e non visibile dalla strada, si configura di fatto come un terrazzamento sostenuto dalle vecchie mura. La residenza ha una storia antica e prestigiosa, di cui restano segni evidenti: fu antico ospedale della comunità, ospizio dei trovatelli e recapito dei frati della Trinità. Un capitello antropomorfo tardo medievale – in corrispondenza di quella che dovette essere una “ruota” – testimonia probabilmente dell’antica funzione di befotrofio. L’edificio fu anche luogo importante nella storia ottocentesca di Semproniano: vi furono fondate infatti la Società Filarmonica dei Perseveranti (1877) e la Società Operaia di Mutuo Soccorso (1882). La secolare storia della nostra residenza è anche ricordata dall’antico stemma francescano sulla porta d’ingresso del giardino, cui ci siamo ispirati per il nostro logo.

Le Antiche Mura is a historical property in the medieval village of Semproniano (GR), conveniently located in northern Maremma between the green slopes of Mount Amiata and the natural spa of Saturnia. Recently renovated respecting original materials and techniques, Le Antiche Mura is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday that combines the charm of traditions and the modern comforts, which will make your stay unforgettable.
Four bedrooms, two single and two double: four different styles inspired by the original decorations, entirely hand-painted. Each room has a private bathroom with shower, a desk, a wardrobe, TV, and wireless internet connection. Our guests have access to the kitchen, the dining room, the fireplace hall, a comfortable parlour, the library, and the secret garden.
Le Antiche Mura derives its name from the location: the building, originally built in the 15th century, rests on the old circle of walls next to the Romanesque church of San Vincenzo. The secret garden, unique in its genre within the old hamlet, is in fact a sort of ledge sustained by the walls. The building has a long and prestigious history, whose signs are visible today: in the Middle Ages it was a community hospital, an orphanage, and the Trinitarian friars’ lodging. An anthropomorphic capital – which overlooks what was probably the place for the baby hatch – recalls the old function of the building. Yet, the place was important in the 19th-century history of Semproniano as well: there were established both the Philharmonic Society “I Perseveranti” (1877) – literally “those who persevere” – and the workers’ Mutual Aid Society (1892). Also, we are reminded of the long history of the building by the old Franciscan emblem that stands out over the garden door, which inspired our logo.
