This charming apartment is a few minutes walk to the trendy Shimokizawa station. Shimokitazawa is located in Setagaya, Tokyo and is usually considered to be one of Tokyo's hippest neighborhoods among young people. The atmosphere and fashion is similar to that of Harajuku, but is usually less crowded and has a much more laid-back atmosphere. It consists of the neighborhood immediately surrounding Shimo-Kitazawa Station, where the Odakyū and Keiō Inokashira Lines intersect. Also known as "Shimokita", the district is a center for stage theater and live music venues. It is home to the historic Honda Gekijō theater building. It has numerous cafes, unique fashion and music outlets. When it comes to shopping, secondhand clothes shops and shops offering miscellaneous items from the 70s and old animation-themed toys are quite popular. The number of large-scale shops in the area has been increasing, but the nicest feature of this town is the many shops expressing the ingenuity of their young owners, such as those combining a cafe and a record shop or an outlet for small handmade items.
During the month-long Shimokitazawa Theater Festival, held every February, various plays are performed at eight small theaters. There is also the Kitazawa Music Festival held every July, where you can enjoy live music not only in live houses, but also in every alley throughout the town.
If you want to experience the casual and friendly charm of Shimokitazawa, it is highly recommended that you visit during the Tengu-matsuri Festival, held at the end of January or beginning of February, which includes a parade of people dressed as the specter of the mythical Tengu, with its long nose and red face. The lively Mikoshi-matsuri Festival (portable shrine festival), held in early September, is another local event that should be experienced.
Along the Odakyu Lines, there are a host of sightseeing spots such as Shinjuku, Hakone, Enoshima and Kamakura where you can enjoy urban life, traditional history and beautiful natural scenery. With Odakyu, you can easily travel to Shinjuku for world class city center shopping and cuisine, or tour and enjoy Hakone with its hot springs and wonderful natural scenery, and of course, Mount Fuji, and the Fuji Five Lakes region. Get in training for the hiking trails and beauty of Tanzawa-Oyama, or steep yourself in the history and traditional culture of Enoshima and Kamakura, or just let it all go, relax in the famous hot springs (onsen) of Ito and feast on its renowned seafood dishes. Odakyu Electric Railways provide economical, convenient and comfortable access to all these places, allowing you to enjoy Japan at your own pace. From Shimokitazawa, you can ride a rapid express train for about 2500 yen in 80 minutes. That saves a lot compared to expensive Shikansens (bullet trains).
Keio line this is one of the best eletrical rail line in Japan operated by Keio Coperation group of companies. The keio lines are found all over Japan like Shinjuku station , Shibuya station right after the Airport bus station about 2 minutes you get to Keio Inokashira line which then connect you to Shimokatizawa within only 5 minutes thus you will be at the apartment also about 5-6minutes depending on the speed of your movement.
Keio lnokashira also connects you to main Keio without changing but on the same plateform and being the best main Keio line you are able visit many tourists attractions in Japan

Firstly you can get to this apartment very easily with simple left or right turns, the place is very safe and quiet, at first it seemed like it was too small to live in compared to your own house/unit obviously but it did accommodate 3 males 80kgs+ and are 5'10"-6'1". perfect for a couple and 1 other.
provides your important toiletries and kitchenware, slippers and plenty of blankets to keep warm or cool.
it felt like home the town itself after a few days, the shops and restaurants were all Brilliant, the people as well. also it is located in a very key area if you need to catch local trains, or bullet trains, be aware though you need to pay 130 yen to get to the Keio Line each way, if you have a Japan Rail Pass it wont work on this line obviously. make sure you try the local cuisine! definitely a place perfect for couples or 2 friends!
Thanks Gateway Tokyo! Hope we didnt leave too much of a mess!! :)

I and my 2 friends spent 5 nights in this place and it was fun. The apartment is well equipped with everything you may need to use, including the portable wifi. Shimokitawa town looks small but so complex to discover in 1-2 days. At first site you may think it is a dull town but the more you stay the more you feel like not leaving. Full of live concerts and music festivals, this should be my favorite spot in Tokyo.
