Additional Location Information

Shaver Lake is a popular recreational lake surrounded by thick pine forests and provides for boating camping, hiking, fishing as well as water sports activities like water skiing, jet skis and windsurfing. Canoe and Kayak enthusiasts will find many out of the way coves and miles of shoreline to explore.

For avid anglers looking to hook up a German brown, rainbow trout, Kokannee salmon, small mouth bass, bluegill or catfish, Shaver Lake is the ultimate angler destination and is open year around for fishing.

In winter, China Peak Ski Resort (formerly known Sierra Summit) is 20 minutes up the road, at scenic Huntington Lake in the Sierra National Forest. The mountain has 1,679 feet of vertical with a base elevation of 7,030 with the peak at just over 8,700 feet. The resort offers seven chairlifts, a T-Bar servicing a new freestyle terrain park, and two handle tows and a moving carpet for the beginner skiers and snowboarders. This resort is very family-friendly, offering great ski and snowboard packages at a low cost.

Shaver Lake is also a hiking magnet, with one of the most accessible roads into the high Sierra back country. It is a short hike ferry ride and hike to the Pacific Crest Trail. Very affordable horseback riding is offered through many stables in the area.
