Description from owner

Description

This single storey cottage enjoys spectacular views of the Herefordshire countryside in all directions. Whilst not the most picturesque property from the outside, don't let this deter you. Rated 4 stars by Visit England, the comfortably furnished lounge/dining room has french windows leading out on to the sun deck where guests can sit undisturbed whilst eating breakfast or watching the sun set over the distant hills. There is a sunny modern kitchen which is well equipped with oven, microwave, fridge and a small freezer. The hallway leads to a new state of the art bathroom with a curved bath, shower, basin and loo - this is truly a loo with a view. There is a separate cloakroom with w.c. and basin. The bedrooms have windows at both ends, with plentiful storage and hanging space. One room has a double bed and the second bedroom has twin beds, which can be put together to make a super kingsize bed. Just let us know your preferences. Both bedrooms have recently been refurnished and overlook unspoilt countryside.

Well behaved dogs are most welcome and will enjoy the large garden and woodland walks. We generally prefer a maximum of two dogs and do not take guard-dog type breeds. Please check before you book.

Longwood Cottage is ideal for a winter break. Double glazing has been fitted and it has a very efficient central heating system which was recently renewed. Several of the local pubs have log fires and provide superb eating in a cosy setting at reasonable prices. For something really different visit Aunt Martha's tea shop in the Forest of Dean or shop at Westons Cider which is just a short way from Longwood.

The cottage overlooks a large garden with access to Long Wood (which is about 100m from the cottage) and pastureland. Wonderful walks abound without using a car, and access to the Wye Valley Walk is just a little further away. Enjoy watching a wealth of wild life and birds from the comfort of the cottage's sun deck.

This property is ideal for people who enjoy the country life. Just a short drive away are numerous pubs serving good food and local ales, as well as picturesque tea shops, and farm shops. There is a nearby village shop, post office and very good butcher all within a few minutes' drive. Herefordshire is known for its fine food and unhurried way of life. In the distance on Marcle Ridge are the gallops for Sapness Farm Racing Stables and the training jumps are visible from the cottage providing great interest when they are being used.

Guests are welcome to use the Cottage's free superfast broadband

Response from the owner Oh dear Mark. You threatened to leave a negative review in your email of 26th April, but when you left the cottage you said "We have had the most enjoyable stay; recommendation fantastic and everything we needed, just perfect etc etc" You also left a 5 star review on Home Away. As always I was asked whether I would welcome you as a guest again and regretfully I had to say no, even though your family are delightful. Your drone was large and noisy, you did not ask permission to use it and although we do not have neighbours nearby, I had two texts on the evening of 21st April complaining about the intrusiveness of your drone. It upset birds in a neighbour's aviary, he was also not happy about a drone possibly videoing his children, the farmer at the bottom of the hill complained strongly about the noise upsetting his ewes who were lambing. So that's it. Just two cultures that don't mix. Guest who stay here usually come for the peace, the comfort of the cottage and the wonderful countryside.
