“third time at this villa in paradise” we recently stayed at the wonderful Shalini Villa for the third time in three years…we don't even think of staying anywhere else…only one small problem…it is so nice we hardly want to leave the pool and gardens all day and it breaks our hearts every time we ave to leave..could not recommend it more highly for style, comfort, food, service…..nothing is ever too much of a problem for the staff who are so attentive and kind

“A beautiful house in stunning surroundings!!” This beautifully designed and well finished new house is set in a wonderfully serene tropical garden where bananas, mangoes, papaya, jack fruit and many more lovely things grow. It's a short walk along a delightful jungle path to wonderful Mirissa Beach. We sat in the garden on evening after a barbecue on the terrace, looking up at the fireflies playing in the tops of the mango trees, set against an amazing star filled clear sky. Heaven on Earth! We also became good friends with the lovely Sri Lankan family who live close by and look after the property. They are always so helpful and would often offer us tasty treats from their kitchen. While the house sits in a nice quiet garden, there is also a popular guest house with a nice garden a short walk away, where you can eat well and cheaply, if you don't fancy cooking yourself. I will certainly be going back to Mirissa some time over the next winter and look forward to staying here and meeting all the friends I made again!!

“Paradise” The location of the house is wonderful, right on the beach, away from busy life, but still next to the main road. The view from the terrace is like a dream! The house is super clean and lovely decorated in French/Sri Lankan style. It offers all what one could need to feel like at home. We enjoyed breakfasts prepared and served by Pianti, and also diners apon the request. Ruwan would arrange day trips if we wanted and take us around with his tuk-tuk. There was also a guard of the house who would welcome us each day. Everyone made us feel great and at home at the property with their friendly faces. Many thanks to Annick and the stuff! We would sure come back or reccomed this place to a friend!

“Just Incredible...” Couldn't be happier with this accommodation! To start off the villa was in a great location (about 10 minutes drive from the main town), which was not a problem at all and was actually nice to be away from such a busy environment. A driver from the villa can be organised for a small cost which was very convenient when we didn't want to get the public bus. It was so nice to be staying right on the beach - and when you didn't want to swim in the beach we had our own private pool. The villas were extremely spacious with big beautiful bathrooms and very comfortable beds. The staff accommodated a few extras we had staying but we were all still very comfortable. Udith the Villa manager was extremely friendly and helpful, catering to our every need. It was always very nice to wake up and have a morning chat with Udith as he was always smiling and in such great spirits. The rest of the staff were also amazing! Always so friendly and accommodating. Couldn't have asked for better people to be surrounded by. The in house chefs provide excellent food - our groups favourite being the chicken sandwiches. It is nice to be able to order whatever food you want at any time. We were supposed to stay only 5 nights, but extended because we didnt want to leave. Would definitely recommend these villa's. Great for a group of friends or a big family looking for a relaxing get away and a great time!

Hikkaduwa Ocean Front "The Palms Villa"/Large Pool
Beautiful, clean, and relaxing

We booked The Palms Villa for early April at a wonderful price, and we were a little worried that it would not be that great because of its affordability. Nevertheless, the villa was gorgeous--right on one of the most beautiful beaches in Sri Lanka--clean, and convenient. We brought four young children, one of which was an infant of 8 months, and we felt safe. The kids didn't ever want to leave the villa because of the pool and yard. The management was kind and attentive, and although the food that the management cooked for us was a little bit more expensive than local prices, it was tasty and immediate. There was a permanent security guard on duty, and an incredibly friendly grounds and housecleaner that kept everything really nice. We went in April, during a hot and humid stretch, but each room has its own air conditioning unit for sleeping and the sea breeze was good for the rest of the day. The beds were comfortable, the appliances new, and the bathrooms clean and spacious. Because the villa is so new, the owner was just putting in a washing machine, which hadn't been connected yet, but the staff at the Six Degrees North Resort (same management) a few doors down helped us out with our laundry. The wifi was surprisingly fast and the house was well-constructed. We couldn't have been happier with the actual villa. The location of the villa is good--10 minutes from Hikkaduwa, a major tourist hub, by tuk-tuk--and walking distance from a small shop that has little needs. Our day trips were provided by management at extra cost, but it was good to have someone else chaufeur our family around and show us the secret and cool places of southwestern Sri Lanka. At any rate, we plan to return to this villa at our earliest convenience. Perfect for families looking for a place to relax and fill their day with swimming, lounging, eating, and walking. … see more
Podi Gedara Luxury Appartment
Charming selfcatering apartment near Galle

We stayed at Podi Gedera for 6 nights during March 2015. The apartment is absolutely beautiful and we loved every minute of our stay there. It had everything we needed -and more- with a lovely modern fully equipped kitchen and stunning bathroom, a comfortable lounge and dining area. The bedroom has a comfortable 4 poster bed with romantic mosquito net and classic Sri Lankan style dressing area. A bonus was the outside bath/shower area! There is a good restaurant within walking distance where we had a really good meal. We were a bit worried that it was on a main road and we might be disturbed by traffic but did not hear the traffic at all, just the soothing sound of the waves! The best part for us was the stunning natural rock pool right in front of the apartment, safe swimming in the sea right there and even our own stilt fisherman for beautiful photo's! Another plus is that it is so close to Galle and Unawatuna ( if you like a bit of action) We mostly used the local bus service to go to into Galle - the bus stop is a few meters away from the apartment and it gives you a feel for the real Sri Lanka with its crazy bus drivers. Andree is a superb host who went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and gave us lots of idea's of things to do and see in the area. We also spend two nights at Eka Beach, Podi Gedera's sister resort/b&b which was equally enjoyable with wonderful helpful friendly staff and a stunning setting. Shalini Villa
Great for young kids, too. A perfect stay.

I stayed at the Shalini Villa for 4 nights in May with my wife, mother, and three children, ages 7, 5 and 3. The home was perfect for those with small kids as it afforded them the space they needed to play and spread out. When we arrived after the long (3 hour) drive from Colombo, we were greeted by a delicious lunch of fresh fish. The meals were a true treat, because it was so nice not to have to go out for dinner or breakfast. Taranga, the cook, arrived at 8:00 every morning and made a Western breakfast for the kids with no spice and a Sri Lankan breakfast for us with spice, and it was a great spread. I had mentioned to Allison when booking about the possibility of purchasing beer and wine, and Taranga and the butler (don't recall his name, but his services were beyond that of a "maid" or even gardener) had purchased both for us and it was waiting for us upon our arrival, too. The staff arranges tuk-tuks for us when we wanted to go to the beach or in to town, and when I ran out of Sri Lankan rupees, they happily made arrangements to exchange Indian rupees for us. The Petals - tranquil gardens overlooking paddy

We had a wonderful week at the Petals with our 2 children (4 yr and 18 months). The garden was beautiful and so well looked after. The pool was heaven and we spent many happy hours in it. The children loved the dogs, monkeys, squirrels and peacocks. We loved the curries cooked by Upul - utterly delicious. The children loved his tomato pasta and Jagath's many smoothies! Chris was an excellent tuk tuk driver and always was there waiting for us on time and seemed like a safer driver than some! Highly recommended! … see more
