This was our family's first venture to the Outer Banks. We found the rental property personnel very helpful. The home was spacious and very close to the beach - the best attribute! We were disappointed in the general cleanliness and musty smell of the house - (the bathroom rug was actually dirty). Also, the grills were a challenge to get in working and clean order and the refrigerator did not get cool (ever).
Greetings and thank you for your review. Beach Realty and Kitty Hawk Rentals takes cleaning complaints very seriously and we intend to confront the cleaning crew of this home and address the items you mentioned. If the cleaning crew is not performing to meet Kitty Hawk Rentals housekeeping standards we will take the necessary actions to ensure that this is corrected. We do always ask that our guests notify us of any cleaning issues within 24 hours of arrival so that we can resolve them promptly. We are glad to hear that our staff was helpful and we thank you for renting with Kitty Hawk Rentals.

We loved how close it was to the beach and that the beach wasn't over crowded any day we went. Also seen dolphins one evening on a family walk on the beach. However the house needs some cleaning and work. There was black dog hair everywhere and the covers and bed spreads were right down nasty with stains on them. However wasn't a huge problem because we brought our own but still was disappointed with that. And the porch was missing a board right in front of the slide which our son who is 2 found. But if they would fix these problems then this house would be a great family beach house.

This house was so close to the beach that it made it so convenient to go back and forth. We go to the beach several times a day and was so nice to be able to go back to have our lunch and dinner.
The only drawback with the house was that it did not have internet accessibility and with teenagers that is a "big deal". Younger children have it very nice with outdoor play things.
There was only 1 closet in the master bedroom and that was the only bedroom with a chest of drawers.
Downstairs area was nice for the teenagers to do their own thing at times.
Lots of amenities including basketball court and ping pong table.

We have never been in the Outer Banks before. We are from the Philadelphia suburbs, and usually vacation at the nearby New Jersey shore. We like the environment, the house (even though it had no Wi-Fi-would not use this one again; also, no pots!), and the beach. I was very impressed with the fact that fishing was permitted anywhere in the surf, which I enjoyed. In NJ, there is almost no place left to fish.
“Wonderful family vacation with its own "playground"”

We had a wonderful week at this very lovely home. My two year grandson thought the backyard was his own personal playground and enjoyed playing with the beach toys and riding the little tykes bike around the long wrapping porch. Fantastic home for families with kids of all ages. The closeness to the ocean was another big plus. We loved it!!!

This is our second year at Sandy Bottoms and we'll be back for another! This house is perfectly suited for children - beach toys, bikes, easy walk to the beach, pack and play, and more. The amenities section should be updated however as the only beach chairs available are either completely rusted and unusable or so worn that the next person to sit down will most definitely land on the ground. We relied on the website last year and left our chairs at home and boy were we sorry. This year we brought our own and are certainly glad we did as the chairs had not been replaced. Additionally, the site shows that there is a baby seat available - not so. But the house does provide a bed rail for little ones which comes in handy, yet isn't listed. All in all a great place for us - Mom, Dad, 3-year-old, 8-month-old, grandparents, and family dog.
