Villa Essa

Villa Essa is set in 1,400 sqm of beautiful, mature, tranquil gardens, designed by a well known Greek landscape gardener. It stands in an elevated position between the main port of Dapia and the charming Old Harbour (both being about a ten minute walk away), with views down to the sea, north across to the main land and the small port of Kosta and Porto Heli, and to the east, to the islands of Dokos and Hydra. It's a truly breathtaking panorama.

The house is built in the traditional argosaronic island style on three levels. It is designed in stone with heavily timbered ceilings and thick walls, which helps to keep the interior cool in the summer ...Read more

Additional Location Information

Spetses is still an "insiders" island which remains detached from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy Cyclades. It retains an air of ease and aristocracy. The horse and carriage is the preferred mode of transport as cars are forbidden. Along with its sister islands of Hydra, and Poros, Spetses remains a refuge for artists, musicians, and free thinkers.
It is one of the greenest islands of the Aegean, offering enchanting pine wood paths with thrilling sea views, hidden chapels, and a variety of richly scented wild fauna. It was for this reason that the island was given the name that it still holds by the Venetians who ruled it in the middle ages: Ιsola de Spezzie, meaning Island of Spices, of perfumes.
Spetses also takes pride in a variety of sand and pebble beaches which can be reached by taxi, bicycle, or kaiki (a traditional boat). The island is famous for its buildings' neoclassical architecture, with the finest examples standing on the promenade with cannons pointed to the sea to deter unwanted visitors! There is also a number of high quality restaurants, traditional Greek fish taverns, bars, and clubs. Access to Spetses is via catamaran from Pireaus harbor (two and a half hours to reach the island), and we're more than happy to help you book seats.
