"SPOLETO SPLASH" IS THE STAGE NAME OF THE PRIVATE VILLAGE OF ACQUAIURA, CONSISTS OF 5 COTTAGES, EACH WITH EITHER ONE OR 2 BEDROOMS, SE
CASA VICOLO......ideal for 4 - 5 persons
On a hill-top, 7 kms from central Spoleto, owned by a wealthy Roman, the village of Acquaiura, consists of 5 luxury cottages, restored to the highest standard and equipped with everything you can imagine that belies a mediaeval setting and is consistent with a rustic, luxury setting..
Located in the heart of the village - very private - in the small square in front of the Church.
On the ground floor there is a kitchen with fireplace and a big living/dining room with fireplace. And, there is a mezzanine floor with an extra single bed.
On the first floor there are two bedrooms (one double room + 1 bed-sitting room with 2 beds) with two bathrooms.
A very pretty terrace looks onto a beautiful panorama of mountains and wood.
Each of the 5 cottages is at a discreet distance from the other and has its own private garden and/or terrace. This arrangement ensures maximum privacy for all the guests. And, all the cottages are easily accessible to the large pool.
At the edge of the village, a few minutes walk away from the cottages, so as not to disturb the guests, offers the use of barbecues, ping pong tables, exercise machinery and basketball hoops, in covered, outdoor areas.
And, in the midst of Acquaiura is what we call the Verandah : this is a communal area, where people can meet together, if they have become friendly with one another, and eat together in a neutral and beautiful area.
The Verandah consists of a very large sitting/dining room, huge windows along one side of the room, all with sensational garden views, with a large dining table that seats 20 persons and a small kitchen, sufficient for full self catering, including a dish-washer and all the pots, pans and dishes, wine glasses etc that you may need for catering (you can request more from the caretaker, who lives in in the grounds and looks after the suites and grounds for you). Outside, there is a large outside area with a covered dining area, a large pizza oven and a BBQ.
The verandah can also be used as an extension to your party - it sleeps 2/3 persons, for a small extra charge.
To date, Acquaiura has been a secret place for world famous celebrities, seeking solace and discretion. Now, however, Acquaiura has been launched onto the holiday rental market so that you too can experience living like a celebrity – but, not at celebrity rates. Go on, pamper yourselves !
Acquaiura was originally built around the year 1000 AD along the Flaminia route, which departs from Rome towards the North of Italy. It was populated by countrymen and the site was a refreshment place for the troops and the messengers of the Pope along the route towards the North of Italy and Rome.
In the centre is a church built in honour of San Michele Arcangelo in 1500 AD.
In the immediate vicinity to Acquaiura, there are many artistic and cultural events eg the Spoleto Festival and Umbria Jazz in July. Indeed, there are cultural events all round the year.
All within easy reach, are the well-known hill-top towns such as Todi, Assisi, Fonti del Clitunno, Orvieto, Trevi, Spello and, the close by and historically significant Spoleto; Or, there is the outstandingly beautiful Gran Piano and Casteluccio (1 hr 30 mins), passing Norcia (1 hr) along the way.
About 12 kms away, is the impressive Marmore Falls, the largest waterfalls in Europe !
You can ride horses through the mountains, play Golf or go wine and/or olive oil tasting.
You can hire a driver (Spoleto, Todi, Narni, Fonti del Clitunno, Castelluccio, Norcia, Assisi, Marmore Falls).
The mediaeval, pedestrian city of Spoleto that predates Roma is 7 miles away, along the beautiful Flaminia. Here you will find a private tennis club that welcomes day memberships, several gyms, amongst which Unique is the best, and, a little closer to you, are fabulous riding stables, where you can participate in moonlit hacks in the mountains or simply confine yourselves to training in the paddock.
