“Adventure!” I was impressed with the shifting scenery, nature itself, the feel of being comforted and calmed! I cannot recommend this enough, especially for those where life never slows down. This was a NEEDED break and a reminder electronics are not a life or death situation. With that being said yes you do have internet access-lol!

Dragonfly Mountain Free 4th Night - Quiet Luxury

Eureka Springs house

  • 1 bedroom
  • 1 bathroom
  • sleeps 4

“Lovely, peaceful place to stay that is convenient to local attractions.” We were looking for lodging around Eureka Springs that didn't have us packed in with other visitors; a place where we could move at our own pace, have some privacy, yet be close to everything the area has to offer. Dragonfly Mountain gave us this as well as a comfortable and attractive place to stay that felt like a home away from home. Highly recommended!

About Arkansas

Located in the south-central United States, Arkansas is a transitional point between the Deep South and the Midwest. Bordering Texas, Louisiana and Tennessee, Arkansas oozes Americana in the truest sense. With its rolling plains of soybeans, wheat and corn, and the mighty Mississippi River flanking its eastern border, the "Natural State" certainly lives up to its name. With Arkansas campgrounds scattered throughout the state, there's plenty of opportunity for outdoor adventure during your vacation.

Some of the state's signature attractions and unique cultural opportunities include:

  • The hot springs: No trip to Arkansas is complete without a visit to Hot Springs National Park. The thermal waters that jet from the 47 natural springs are accented by charming spas and bathhouses that are tucked away in the woods.
  • Little Rock: The "little town that could" has blossomed into a bustling hub of commercial and cultural activity. It is the home of Bill Clinton's Presidential Library as well as the Wal-Mart headquarters and some of the state's best museums and galleries.
  • Buffalo National River: Flowing from the heart of the Ozark Mountains, Buffalo National River is a 132-mile stretch of pristine, unpolluted water that offers excellent rafting and the perfect way to enjoy a calm, tranquil day away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
  • The Ozarks: If you are in northwestern Arkansas, you're in the scenic Ozark Mountains. This region of the state is home to some of its most spectacular scenery, natural attractions and Arkansas National Parks. The Ozarks offer some of the best Arkansas wedding locations, if you're looking to get hitched in the Natural State.
  • Gastronomic delights: Fried catfish, traditional African-American "soul food" and Arkansas barbecue are among the most tempting ways to delight your palate during your visit.

The climate in Arkansas tends to be very humid, so plan accordingly if you are visiting during the summer. Water parks in Arkansas are common, and offer a great way to beat the heat. Temperatures remain fairly mild throughout the winter, with spring and autumn being the most popular times to visit the state.

For your accommodations, consider a condo or cabin-style vacation rental. These hotel alternatives offer more privacy and convenience, and are available throughout the state, whether you're staying in Little Rock or roughing it in the Ozark Mountains.

As a gateway to both the Deep South and the Midwest, there is plenty to see and do if you want to expand your travels. For a stronger dose of southern hospitality, head into neighboring Texas, Mississippi or Louisiana. Oklahoma, Missouri and Tennessee also border Arkansas and are easily accessible with the Interstate highway system.

Woodhaven Cabin, jacuzzi bath, fireplace, kitchen in ouachita mts near Mena AR
Like an English Country cottage stuck in the Arkansas Woods

We booked this trip last minute for our anniversary. Let me say we had the most relaxing time. We wanted a quiet and unplugged weekend, to enjoy each other. Woodhaven had everything you would need and more to have pleasurable stay whether it's a weekend or a week. We had a short drive to Mena where we shopped flea markets and ate at several restaurants. We particularly enjoyed Mama Nell's and Skyline Cafe. Altogether, one of the the most memorable weekends we have spent together in years.see more

Great place for fishing and relaxing.

We enjoyed our stay and the home was clean and well stocked. This home has its own dock to relax and great for trout fishing. I loved the water features and landscaping. I would recommend this home if you are looking for peace and quiet along red river run. … see more

Off the beaten path but still convenient location. Quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors. Wonderful view of the golf course while drinking coffee on the covered patio. Definitely will keep this one on the “do again” list. … see more
Pine Ridge Cabin
Great cozy hideaway in the woods

We used this cabin as our hub for visiting central Arkansas - Crater of Diamonds State Park, Hot Springs NP, Petit Jean SP. It was perfect for our two kids as they each had their own separate areas to sleep and we were able to have our own little suite in the loft. Kids loved exploring the woods outside and looking for cool crystals and rocks. Well set up and clean. Great first experience in a vacation rental home.see more
Captain's Retreat
Great View

Great spot for family vacation!! View is amazing!! The place definitely needs to be updated & a fire pit out in the yard would be pretty nice. Overall it’s a great place to visit. Could just use some updating. It could also use some lights outside on the back patio area. Don’t pass this place up though still a great place to stay!!see more
