About Bruce Peninsula

Bruce Peninsula, Ontario

Surrounded by water, the Bruce Peninsula juts out from mainland Ontario, and offers an exciting vacation spot for families from all over the world.

From luxurious apartments to cozy homes, FlipKey will has an ideal vacation rental in Bruce Peninsula with your name on it!

About Bruce Peninsula

On one side of the Bruce Peninsula lies the blue waters of the Georgian Bay. On the other, the main basin of Lake Huron. So it's no surprise that this has become a hotspot for water activities over the last few years.

But that's not all! There are two national parks tucked in this small land, several nature reserves and an exciting Bird observatory.

You'll never be bored in this quaint little town. There's so much to do and see that it’ll be hard to figure out where to start!

One of the main reasons that Bruce Peninsula is famous is the Niagara Escarpment: a ridge of rock several hundred meters high! It stretches 725 kilometers from Queenston to Tobermory. If you look closely at some of the rocks, you'll be able to see fossils from the Silurian and Ordovician periods (that's over 400 million years ago)!

What to do in Bruce Peninsula

Sitting on the beach and reading a book is a great start to the trip. But we bet you'll be itching to explore the peninsula after a day!

To see the island in full, hike along the Bruce Trail and try camping in the leafy forests. While you're there, see which animals you can spot. The area is known for flying squirrels, hawks, bald eagles and even black bears!

If you fancy some water-based activities, try diving, snorkeling, kayaking and canoeing. The clear waters that surround the peninsula make this one of the best locations in Canada!

The fishing isn't bad either – see if you can catch some of the elusive Canadian Salmon.

It's worth going to see the Cove Island Light near Tobermory, it's one of Canada's six famous "Imperial" lighthouses!

Take a boat tour around Fathom Five National Marine Park – you'll see shipwrecks, lighthouses and the iconic Flowerpot island. For those who don't want to go diving, try one of the glass-bottomed boats.

Top Bruce Peninsula travel tips

There are plenty of places to eat on the Bruce Peninsula. Try different towns and styles – though fish is a firm favorite round here! Don't forget, Canadians expect a tip of between 10%-15%.

The towns on the Bruce Peninsula are very community driven, so there will probably be an event or two on during your stay. At Easter, go to the Maple Syrup Festival. In August, go to the Bruce Power Beach Party, and, at the end of September, see the world's largest pumpkins and Port Elgin Pumpkinfest!

Explore this wonderful part of Ontario, and don't be afraid to try new things. There are plenty of activities in the area, and FlipKey will have the perfect property for you to relax in once your exciting day is through.
