About Crescent City

Crescent City is named after the same shaped stretch of beach in the area. The growing population is testament to the natural beauty of this area. As home to several fishing vessels, the Crescent City Harbor can be very busy. The harbor suffered damage in the 2011 tsunamis resulting from an earthquake in Japan. However, this has since been restored.

If you‘re planning on visiting the area, the best time to go is during summer months. Despite Crescent City being considerately cooler than nearby inland locations, the refreshing temperatures make it ideal to spend time outdoors.

Crescent City has moderately warm summers and slightly cooler winters. July and August are the hottest months while December and January are the coldest months. You might want to bring a jacket with you when you travel for evening wear.

What to do

There are plenty of things to do in Crescent City, including a visit to Battery Point Lighthouse. A trip here will allow you to gain further history about the area, as well as a tour around the lighthouse. You can only get here during low tide but if you’re able to make it, it’s definitely an interesting visit.

B Street Pier is a beautiful sight to visit. You’ll see many fishermen along the way but this is a pier that has to be visited. Alternatively, take a trip to Stout Grove. This amazing natural landscape offers hiking trails for even beginners. There are also huge redwoods and stunning flora to marvel at.

The local cuisine is a tasty treat. Chart Room Restaurant serves delicious seafood as well as scrumptious fish and chips, garlic toast and slaw fries. The house is by far the best around, real close to various attractions: The family wanted the visit Fern Canyon, where Jurassic Park was supposedly filmed. We saw a herd of moose there. Also went to where return of the Jedi was filmed, the trees alone were awesome. Went down into Cresent City saw the light house and lots of seals, Meals in the area were good as well. The maid was awesome, she truly went out of her way for us. Next time we will stay longer, so much there in that area to view and enjoy. River Front Home On The Beautiful Smith River
It doesn't get any better than this!

We cannot say enough great things about this River Front home. My husband and I stayed 4 nights this past week. The owner takes great care to make sure you have everything and I do mean everything you would possibly need for your stay. The home is very roomy, clean, beautiful wood covering the walls, nicely decorated, every room is very comfortable. Three TV's in the house, stereo music if you want to use it. Great cell phone and WiFi service. Complete kitchen with stocked pantry, all the comforts of home here. The beds are very comfortable, the leather chair in the living room was my husband's favorite while were in the house. It is quiet and serene. The river can be seen from every room in the back of the house. The landscaping is well maintained as is the home. It has a two car garage, very large driveway, plenty of room for two families. Washer and dryer is available as well as the laundry soap. The patio/deck area has two sitting areas with wrought iron table and chairs, as well as patio chairs, a BBQ pit, and a beautiful fire pit sitting area. The house is exactly as described and I immediately recognized all of the things I saw in the pictures of the property. The river is mesmerizing and we could have looked and listened for much longer than we were able to stay. If you are looking to get it away from it all, you definitely will here at the River House.
