Apartment had everything needed for a comfortable stay, clean, well stocked kitchen and plenty of room. The best was Mrs M, she gave great advice on how to get around town and even set up our taxi to the airport. She is a gem of a hostess. Would highly recommend!
Wonderful apartment, very clean, tastefully decorated, full of charming features, and well organized for eight people. There are ample dishes and pans in kitchen and an old fashioned clothes drying rack that lowers down from the high ceiling. We enjoyed having sinks with mirrors in all but one bedroom, the comfortable beds throughout, the kids loved the loft, and we all appreciated nice bathtub and shower with and plenty of hot water for everyone.
The location worked well for us, there was great shopping and restaurants within a five minute walk, and we either walked downtown or took inexpensive taxi to Royal Mile. Highly recommend Tesco for food supplies, it's about 3 or four blocks from apartment and stays open to 10 or 11 PM
Lastly great manager who goes above and beyond when needed. I accidentally left my passport hidden in some towels (ridiculous thing to do) and did not discover that it was missing until a day later. Jon put his crew on it and they were able to find it before it got laundered ... so grateful. Also appreciated easy check-in with great directions and key box. We will definitely try to stay here again if we return to Edinburgh!
I spent a week in the Castle View apartment with my family and I was very pleased.
Communication with the owner before and during the stay was excellent (he even helped us with our luggage). Everything was clean and tidy. We found 4 croissants, 4 porridges, bottle of milk and juice.
There is a supermarket nearby and a Grassmarket with a lot of nice restaurants just few minuts away. Also, the center is just few minutes walking from the apartment.
House was as advertised. Great area, easy to navigate the city. Bright and vibrant city. House was a great base. You don't feal like you are in a big city. Only complaint was weather, dispite that we had a great time. Peter was a great host. Unit was well supplied with a few kitchen items to get you started. Would stay there again if we get to Ebinbugh!
"Great spot far (not too far) from the Madding Crowd."
Left on 08/18/2016 for a stay in August 2016
The apartment is located on a Georgian crescent, though the building looks early 20th century. There's plenty around in terms of services (i.e., a Co-op grocery down the street, taxi rank, coffee and restaurants nearby). Very handy for the Edinburgh Playhouse. My colleagues thought it just a little too far to walk to York Place to catch the tram--I thought that was an easy walk and that they must have had sore feet from all the walking we'd done prior. (Has to be less than a quarter-mile from the tram stop.) Well kitted-out with everything you need, and Liz couldn't be more helpful.
