“A Beautiful and Relaxing Escape” The house was lovely and clean and was so open and filled with light! The covered porch and deck were fully furnished and provided a "bridge" between the house and the beach. The gift we received as we entered the house was a real surprise and much appreciated. I would say that this is the nicest rental property we have leased!

Contentment

Emerald Isle house

“Great Place To Stay” It's been a while since we stayed at Contentment, but I would recommend this rental to anyone ! It's a wonderful place to stay, and aptly named. I am hopeful we will be able to return in 2012. Excellent beach location, very family friendly, clean and spacious. Our now grown children are excited about possibly going back next summer.

“great layout and location” This house has a great layout for small children (all on one level). oceanfront and very close to water. only minuses are that the kitchen is a little old and the a/c vents really need to be cleaned. beach was not busy in sept and house isn't far from downtown emerald isle. i'd come and stay again.

“A Perfect Fit!” I can't imagine a more perfect family vacation. This roomy and well-appointed house, right on the beach, brought together four families from four different states (including very small children) - giving us room to eat and play together, and room to have private time as well. The views are breathtaking, the location is convenient, the beach is not crowded, it could not have been better. Only a couple things could be considered lacking, but they are so minimal, they hardly bear mentioning. We'd read someone else's review that suggested a non-stick fry pan, so we brought ours along, and were glad we did. The dryer only worked if set on the highest setting and left to run for a while - but we reported that to management, and considering how responsive they were about everything else, I'm sure the dryer has been addressed by now. There really is very little shade when you sit on the deck, so it might be helpful to bring along a clamp on umbrella for the deck chairs if you want to be outside, but out of the sun. Again, we loved every minute of our stay.

Fins to the Right West

Emerald Isle house

“Well stocked home with easy beach access” We love that Grandpa can surf fish and we can stay on the deck or house and assist him if needed--the rest of us are not fishermen. We love the area of Emerald Isle, the beach size etc. and easy access to the shopping center. Some of our party like to walk to the Point during our stay. The house is well stocked and we like the linen service so we don't have to pack those, too. Shorewood office personnel are great! A big thanks to our "savior" when we were locked out. A restful beautiful week was enjoyed by all, after several cool days at the beginnjng of the week. Grandpa didn't catch any fish for the first year. Disappointing but Islanders said the water was murky and the fish don't like that--from the previous rains.

Angelfish Cottage

Emerald Isle house

  • 3 bedrooms
  • 3 bathrooms
  • sleeps 6

“Great Spot!” Angelfish was a great place for a winter get-away with our dog, Bunker. Deck is very large-dog friendly. With few restaurants open, we had no problem fixing meals in the well-equipped kitchen. Beach access is good, too, with lots of shells within just a few blocks. Would certainly stay here again. Tried to book for a week in april but it was taken. Very nice place in a nice part of the beach.

A Reason To Be

Emerald Isle cottage

  • 3 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms

“Enjoyable” We had a really nice time. The accomodations were clean and comfortable. Being off the ocean was not a big deal because of the many public access sites. We enjoyed many fine dinners up and down the isle and liked being there during the last week in august when most people in North Carolina think summer is already over.

Crystal Charm- East

Emerald Isle apartment

  • 4 bedrooms
  • 3 bathrooms
  • sleeps 8

“Shorewood rocked / Crystal Charm East was nice w/ some bumps” Janet, Cathy, and Dick @ Shorewood were absolutely fabulous (as they were last year). They were extremely responsive, handling all our inquiries with courtesy & professionalism. We rented Sea Garland from them last year, and we will be using Shorewood for all our future visits to Emerald Isle. Crystal Charm East is a very nice home, right on the beach, with a wonderful master suite on the top floor w/ private porch to watch the waves - we loved it. Couple of glitches - the a/C went out but Janet & Cathy @ Shorewood arranged for a repairman that night (fixed the next day). Also it was advertised to have a charcoal grille, and high speed wireless internet. No grille to be found - but they had one delivered the next day. When the internet went down, we called the cable folks only to learn the the home was provided only cable TV and phone service - the wireless service was piggybacking off the neighbors unsecured Lynksys modem (we had go next-door to ask them to reset it). The neighbors were very nice, and we had wireless for our laptops the rest of our stay. Also one suggestion - a screen on the master balcony porch would allow tenants to keep the door open to hear the waves, but not let the bugs in. Lastly - the kitchen was great, but needs some "utensiling" . . .

“Go buckeyes!!” Everything was Great! My cousins and I stayed for a week at this beach house. The place was clean. The rooms were convenient. Everyone had their own space, but still had a common room to relax and have fun together. The pool was fabulous and the pool was cleaned every two days. The beach access was right across the street. Could not of had a better time staying at this house. My only complaint was the front door was hard to lock and unlock. We barely locked it because we were afraid of getting locked out. I stayed in an upstairs room, but heard complaints that the downstairs beds were very uncomfortable, might be time to replace those. They still got the job done and everyone had a good time. Kudos to the staff!!! They were very helpful. We showed up 2 hours early in hopes that our place was cleaned so we could watch the Buckeyes. It wasn't, but the manager came out right when we were leaving and told us without a doubt it would be in time. They did not disappoint. Loved this house and the vacation. Thanks for a lovely week!

Emerald Isle house

“Our best vacation yet!” The pics of the house on the internet does not do it justice! We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at what a beautiful home this was. Location to the beach with beach walkway at the end of the driveway was wonderful! Great area for my children to ride bikes with no worries of traffic. Having the use of the pool in the afternoon after a long day at he beach was very relaxing. Location to shops and eateries was within minutes. Overall I would highly recommend 1 For Shore for your next family vacation!

“Pebble Beach Oceanview condo” This condo is great for 2 couples and a couple kids. The beds, linens, towels were all a good quality and super comfortable. Equipped with everything except for a gabage disposal and adequate seating on the patio. :) Easy access to the beach and 2 pools was really great for the kids. Fishbar 58 was a really cute seafood restaurant my family enjoyed.

“Great Family Vacation!” We loved our week at Emerald Isle. Pebble Beach condos are so clean and they offer so much to do (tennis, indoor pool, outdoor pool, beach front, close to shopping, putt-putt). The week was relaxing and there were enough things to keep the teenager entertained. I do wish all 3 bedrooms had cable, only the master bedroom and living room had it.

About Emerald Isle

Located on a thirteen-mile narrow strip of barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and Bogue Sound, Emerald Isle is considered a postcard-perfect vacation destination. Many families decide to rent a summer house here and return year after year. One of the most popular aspects of Emerald Isle is its accessibility to several desirable points around the Outer Banks area. Rent a beautiful summer villa here and let your children make memories that will last a lifetime, or take a long weekend away from work and sneak off to Emerald Isle for a romantic getaway.

Here are a few suggestions of things to do here:

  • Go on a wild horse safari: A 15 minute ferry ride can take you from Emerald Isle to the Cape Lookout National Seashore. Here you can meet the wild horses of Shackleford, one of the last remaining wild horse populations in the United States.
  • Learn about pirate history: The legendary Blackbeard, also known as Edward Drummond, was one of the most famous pirates of North Carolina's Outer Banks. Visit his house in historic Beaufort and learn more about how pirates lived, how they died, and the adventures that happened in between.
  • Play on Shackleford Beach: Go shelling, swimming, sunbathing, wild horse watching, or dolphin spotting along this stretch of the unspoiled Shackleford Banks, right across the water from the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve.
  • Spend the afternoon in the spa: Enjoy head-to-toe pampering in one of the many spas within reach of Emerald Isle.
  • Play golf: The golf courses you'll find in this area are some of the greenest, best kept and best designed courses in the state.
  • Take a nature tour by boat: Explore the marine ecosystem, learn more about the salt marshes, and see dolphins, turtles, lighthouses and famous landmarks.

For your stay, book a vacation rental that offers everything you need. You may decide to rent a small condo just for two or a beach house big enough for a family reunion. No matter what you're looking for, you'll definitely find a place with beautiful views of the ocean almost anywhere you decide to stay.

Family Tree East
Location, location, location!

Family Tree East was a great place to stay. It had plenty of space for everyone inside and out! The best part about this rental was the location! It was located just across the road to beach access. Also, it was a great place for my kids to boogie board, fish, bike, and relax. The location to shopping and resteraunts was just a short drive away. My mother, my kids, and myself enjoyed the book and toy store at Emerald Plantation (and feeding the local turtles). Other favorites were visiting the Maritime Museum, Fort Macon, and the Acquarium! I'm glad we booked this home because of its location to the beach and the fun! Thanks again!see more
Sound Of The Sea 204 N
Perfect for our family

We stayed in Emerald Isle for the week and had an amazing time. Our location was perfect to the beach, pools, biking trails and plenty of stores and restaurants. While the location had a lot to offer it still was quaint, calm and quite which is exactly what we needed for our busy family of 4. We had an easy walk to the beach each day and easy access to two different pools. Our condo had everything we needed plus two different balcony's to enjoy an early morning cup of coffee or an evening meal with beautiful views and the sound of the ocean. We've stayed at the Sound of the Sea before but in a different Condo. This one was clean, modern and had everything we could need for a week of fun and relaxation. Easy drive to the Aquarium and if you like to walk or bike mini golf, the Pier, Movie Theatre, restuarants and wonderful shops easy to access. Highly recommend.see more
