“Relaxing stay in Punalu'u” Our family stayed in condo #401, it was perfect and exceeded our expectations. The condo has everything you need and more. We had an incredible vacation. The condo has a gorgeous view of the ocean and a big, comfy balcony to sit on and enjoy the view! It's just a short walk across the lawn to the water. The condo itself is lovely and clean with a complete kitchen, not lacking anything a cook would need. We had a lot of meals in the condo and that helps too if you're on a special diet or just want to save on meals. The beds are very comfortable too! It's the perfect place for a family with kids to stay, everything you need is there, even a washer and dryer! Punalu'u is serene and beautiful. We plan on returning soon!

Makaha apartment

“Very enjoyable, relaxing and peaceful amongst the local people not in the rat race of touristy Waikiki.” We did not rent a car and used the local bus system to travel everywhere which was great but time consuming. The accommodation is at least an hour from Honolulu and Waikiki so travelling on a bus late at night is not ideal, however the bus does stop outside the condo complex. The condo facilities are comfortable with access to 2 pools, it is on the 3rd floor with stair access only which is hard with heavy luggage, however being higher up means there are sea views and the benefit of fresh breezes. We found the owner friendly and approachable.

7 Bedroom House 300 feet to the beach/ Ocean view on Hawaii North Shore

Hauula house

  • 7 bedrooms
  • 3 bathrooms
  • sleeps 16

“Home away From Home” If anyone is looking for a relaxing retreat, this is the place for you. The location of this property is quiet and yet is within close proximity of places such as Turtle Bay Resort (excellent golfing) and North Shore Sunset Beach and Haleiwa. The Bus even stops right in front on both sides of the street allowing one a cheap ride ($2.50) in either direction. Everything I needed was provided and the owner was quite approachable regarding any concerns or questions that I had. I would recommend this property to anyone that is looking less for luxury but more for a home away from home getaway.

“Excellent Location and Home” Our family of four had an absolutelly wonderful week at this condominium. The ocean, with the lagoon, is fantastic to swim and play in, all the time knowing that the kids are safe. The condo was excellent with all of the current amenities, a fantastic view, and a spatious design.

“Perfect Location... The "Real" Hawaii” Being from New Hampshire, Hale Malaekahana reminded me of a Lake House dropped on a perfect stretch of Hawaiian beach, close to the North Shore of Oahu. If you're looking for marble floors and granite counters, stay in Waikiki...if you want a true feel for the "Country" of Hawaii, grab a week or more at Hale Malaekahana!! The house and kitchen were very well equipped for anything that you would need, including surf boards, life jackets, beach chairs/mats, snorkel gear and a Webber Grill for grilling up some of the fresh caught fish that you can get from the locals. Forget about the pricey restaurants in Honolulu, experience the local garlic shrimp and Huli chicken along the route, you'll be glad you stayed up here!! Nothing more relaxing than falling asleep to the sound of the waves and waking early to an awesome sunrise and coffee on the beach. Stan and Marcia ( although we didn't meet them personally) were very responsive to e-mails and calls during the booking process and our rental went off without a hitch. They even graciously accommodated our request for a late check-out on departure day as we had a late flight and we wanted to soak up every minute of Sun we could out front on the beach!!

About Haleiwa

Located on the North Shore of the island of Oahu, Haleiwa is a classic tropical paradise and a postcard perfect vacation destination during any season of the year. Because of its unusually glassy waves, this area is a popular site for serious surfers. Many surfing championships are scheduled here during the winter season when the waves can reach heights greater than 20 feet.

Oahu's North Shore is also a mecca for nature lovers and turtle watchers. Take a guided eco tour by boat and observe turtles of several species as they glide peacefully through the clear green waters of the Pacific. Be sure to experience nature inland as well. The hiking trails here lead to breathtaking overlooks and beautiful views of the ocean from above. Fans of "Lost" will recognize some of these vistas, since portions of the show were filmed here.

After a day of beaches, waves, mountains and cultural experiences, watch the sun set over the ocean and explore the warm, vibrant nightlife of Haleiwa.

Here are a few additional suggestions for your trip:

  • Take a surfing lesson: If you've never gone surfing before, the beaches of Haleiwa are a perfect place to learn. During the summer, the waves are high but manageable for beginners, the area is safe, and the instructors are knowledgeable.
  • Go sea kayaking or paddle surfing: The north shore of Oahu is a perfect place to explore from a position in or close to the water. This is a wonderful way to experience the plants, sea turtles and other marine life just below.
  • Experience a shark encounter: Shark-watching outfitters use a special underwater cage made of bars or protective plexiglass. Get up close and personal with one of the ocean's most fascinating and misunderstood creatures.
  • Go horseback riding: There's no more romantic way to experience Oahu's north shore. Gallop along the beach and explore the inland trails.
  • Visit the Haleiwa Farmer's Market: Wander the stalls of this weekly market to hear some local conversation and learn more about the origins of the freshest Oahu produce.
  • Go skydiving: If you only get a chance to sky dive once in your life, do it here. See exhilarating views of this tropical paradise from above.

To get the most out of your experience in Halewai, find a perfect place to stay. There are plenty of vacation rental opportunities during every season here. You'll have no trouble booking a luxurious villa or beautiful summer condo within a few steps of the beach.
