Villa dei Fiori - Luxury apt, Lake view and garden

Bellagio villa

  • 3 bedrooms

“Absolutely sensational” We were two couples in our 60's wanting a great self contained villa, with great views, close to amenities, but not in amongst the crowds. Villa dei Fiori, surpassed all of our expectations. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, two reception rooms, a great kitchen, a balcony and an outdoor area 'to die for'. Luca and Mary, were gracious hosts, generous with the food and drink, which we did not expect, for your arrival. We liked the property, because it felt like a home. The location and views were perfect for what we wanted.

“Beautifully furnished and equipped apartment in a wonderful loca” Fantastic views and a great location. The apartment is incredibly well furnished and equipped; the owner has thought of everything. Our daughter found the sofa bed very comfortable. Great selection of books and Dvds. A short drive to either Como or Bellagio. The restaurant "Vapore" is directly below; excellent service and very reasonable prices.

“Perfect views & comfort on Lake Como” Believe it or not, the photos don't do it justice -- the views and house are even more beautiful. It's also perfectly situated for visiting Bellagio, and all of the wonderful villas and towns nearby -- that is, if you can tear yourself away from the views. Monkia, the manager, was attentive and informative and warm -- the restaurant and touring recommendations were terrific. SO much nicer than staying in a hotel -- even if a hotel had THOSE VIEWS.

Gorgeous Cernobbio Apartment on Lake Como

Cernobbio apartment

  • 2 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms
  • sleeps 6

“Gorgeous apartment; Great location.” We stayed with our 4 year old in this lovely, light and spacious apartment for two weeks and it was so relaxing I had to use my mobile to remind myself what day it was! The apartment is as good looking as the pictures and with a small boy the washing machine, with washing powder and softener all provided, was extremely useful. A small point: if you (or your kids) need your room to be dark in order to sleep then bring something to cover the large windows because the louvres on the shutters are fixed unlike other places we have stayed. It is a great location, easy to get a bus or ferry into Como, or ferry up to other beautiful villages on the lake like Bellagio or to the cable car in argegno; and from a practical point of view it was easy to walk to the large supermarket or into the town for the lovely bakeries and coffee shops. If you like chocolate ice cream try the gelato fondente at "Ronchi Milano" in Como on Via Garibaldi - it's so dark it's almost black and the espresso was one of the best too. The lido was too cold this early in the season and although we braved it once even with high daytime temperatures June is too early to swim regularly (and it wasn't that clean when we were there). Joy gave us loads of information about many of these things before we arrived and was extremely helpful, friendly and communicative as was Ruth who met us at the apartment and gave us a very useful and informative quick tour of the town.

“Paradise” Varrena is delightful and Casa Mara a homely Italian apartment right in the centre; quiet and comfortable. The other reviews describe the apartment well. We were two couples enjoying exploring the central lake area. The ferries are fun and easy... lots of nice restaurants abound and many many interesting walks. We shall return!

“Great location at Como Lake !” A wonderful apartment just a short drive from Bellagio. The apartment is nicely furnished and well equipped and it has a wonderful view of the lake. With 2 bedrooms it's ideal for more people or a family. We plan to go back there, as we really liked the apartment and what it offered. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing Italian getaway.

casa alla piana

Bellagio house

  • 2 bedrooms
  • 1 bathroom
  • sleeps 4

“Extraordinary value for a truly memorable experience.” Casa Alla Piana was outstanding. It is on the eastern edge of the small medieval village of Suria above Bellagio. It is on the middle and upper floor in the eastern end of a three story old stone building with high ceilings and vaulted bedrooms. Stained wood and centuries old natural stone abound. The donkey trails leading down from the village were a highlight for me. Window surrounds and the entrance balcony are single large solid slabs of crystalline stone - amazing. Inside is a surprise - the fit out is very modern with natural wood window frames and stairs - stained not painted. Coupled with the fabulous views, high ceilings and space this all adds up to a very ethereal experience. Best views are from the bedrooms (upstairs) which face north. The upstairs bathroom has a view to the east. Southerly views are from the upstairs landing and entrance door. The kitchen living room, the only room downstairs, has a door sized window looking across the neighbors garden to the north. Casa Alla Piana is well set up - everything worked well and we found all we needed in the apartment. There is no on-site WiFi at Casa Alla Piana but we were able to use a phone as a mobile WiFi hotspot. Across the lane way to the south is a private garden for exclusive use of guests at Casa Alla Piana. We stayed at the start of autumn. In the garden there were still sufficient vegetables (beans, zucchini, aubergine, tomato, broccoli) and herbs (parsley, sage, fennel) to go with our salmon, mussels, gorgonzola (one Euro per 100gm) or other treats. We shopped at the supermarket at the bottom of the nearest donkey trail. Note the opening hours on your first visit - we had 8:30am to 7:30pm, with afternoon siesta (12:30 to 15:30), Sunday afternoon and Monday closed. We did not meet Antonella or Pino but sister Lory and parents helped us settle in and showed us the start of the two main donkey trails leading down from hilltop Suria. The hidden garage is in a very modern, scrupulously clean complex, of ten or more garages ingeniously totally concealed under this ancient stone village. Once parked we didn’t use the car and walked or used the ferries. It is worth paying for a multi-day pass through the Metzi gardens as coupled with the middle donkey trail, it is not only a pleasant walk but probably the easiest way to get to and from central Bellagio. If you stay at Casa Alla Piana and plan to walk down the donkey trails you need a minimum level of fitness and map use. Casa Alla Piana was very quiet. There is a bit of an influx over the weekend period to gardens surrounding Casa Alla Piana (just like the garden attached to Casa Alla Piana) as they are used for large family meal gatherings – I guess by Milano apartment dwellers who seem to revel getting outdoors among the verdant greenery, clear blue sky and stone wall and lake backdrops. As best views are from the bedrooms upstairs (waist height windows), and not from the kitchen-dining-sitting room downstairs, you may want to construe a possie upstairs from what is available, for your reading, computing or idle hours whilst gazing at the view. Also upstairs gave a far superior phone reception for internet use. The best possible internet reception was to Blu-tak the phone (would not want it to slide off) onto the upstairs outside solid stone north facing window ledge which is slightly sloping. At the price paid, 250 Euro for four nights, including garage, Casa Alla Piana clearly deserves its five out of five rating. I am comfortable in going further to say that Casa Alla Piana ranks as luxury accommodation for the fit and map savvy guest who can connect their own internet. It is easy to write a lot about Casa Alla Piana – it was a wonderful experience.

About Lake Como

In the heart of the Lombardy region of Italy, at the base of the Rhaetian Alps, lies Lake Como with the beautiful city of Bellagio on its central peninsula. Once a fishing village, later the destination for the luxurious summer estates of Italian aristocrats and dignitaries under Napoleon, Bellagio's legendary grace draws visitors from all over the world.

Along the shores of Lake Como in both directions from the center, there are quaint villages where fishermen haul in their catches and cats lounge in the sun. When you visit the area, spend some time exploring the towns of Como and Lecco. Stroll the colorful market areas. Sample the legendary food and wine of Lombardy. Visit the churches, historic castles and country estates with magnificent gardens. And of course, enjoy the lake. There are plenty of charter tours and sunset champagne cruises that can take you out on the water and around Isola Comacina, Lake Como's only island.

Here are a few additional suggestions as you plan your trip:

  • Relax in La Punta Spartivento: Visit this serene and lovely park in Bellagio City. The Swiss Alps rise up in the distance and reflect perfectly on the tranquil surface of Lake Como.
  • See the Vezio Castle: Hike up the hillside to the Castello di Vezio from the town of Varenna. Take in the spectacular views of the lake from above and time your visit for the falconry show.
  • Explore the gardens of the Melzi Villa: Built in 1808, the structure and gardens of this estate provide one of Lombardy's most enchanting architectural sites. Once a family residence for one of Napolean's dukes, this neo-classical villa has been restored and its gardens have been brought back to life.
  • Take an Italian cooking class: Once you've sampled the culinary treasures of the Lombardy region in a local restaurant, you may want to take a course and learn how to reproduce these traditional flavors on your own.
  • Play on the lake: Rent a boat and glide out on the water. Go windsurfing, swim, or just relax on the tranquil beaches of Domaso or Gravedona.
  • Visit the St. James Cathedral: This Bellagio City structure is a classic example of the Romanesque churches of Lombardy.

Whatever time of year you visit, you'll have no trouble finding a place to stay in any of the towns and villages that border the lake. Find an elegant condo in Bellagio or a lakeside villa on the shores of Domaso. You can also easily find a cabin in the hills further inland as well.

Villa Poletti, by Owner
perfect villa for vacation!

villa poletti was such a great place for vacation. it had a fantastic pario which we had breakfast every morning looking over lake como, and there were several trees you can pick seasonal fruits in the garden. rooms are a lot bigger and more comfortable than staying at hotels, and it was convenient to go to restaurants which serve local cuisine of bellagio. my wife and kids were impressed i could find such a amazing place for us to stay, and they are asking me to take them there again. i hope we can go back to villa poletti again soon.see more
Villa dei Fiori - Luxury apt, Lake view and garden
Wonderful location, beautiful property, amazing attention to detail.

This property exceeds expectations in almost every way. It is situated just outside of Bellagio in a beautiful village a short, but strenuous walk to town. The house has a lovely lake view and is very attractive and comfortable. It was immaculately clean and having a cleaning person stop in daily was a really nice plus. Luca could not have been nicer. One senses that the comfort of his guests is extremely important to him. The house is so thoughtfully stocked with food basics, beer, wine, and coffee, as well as toiletries. We appreciated his restaurant recommendations as well as the abundant tourists brochures he provides. Staying here is like staying at the most luxurious of hotels, but with much more space and at a fraction of the cost.see more
1 bedroom apartment on the shores of Lake Como
Amazing view & comfort

My wife Claudia and me, have spent 7 wonderful days in August 2014 at Faggeto Fantastico in Faggeto Lario. Everything was so excellent as we expected it before coming. The location is unique - Close to the water and an amazing view on the lake and the mountains around it. And another thing which was very important for us was the silence and the piece. The apartment was very cozy, there was everything that we needed for a comfortable life. We will never forget the view from our bedroom. Every morning when we woke up the first thing that we saw was a dark blue lake and a green mountain on the opposite side. Unforgettable! Some good local restaurants we could reach by walking in 5-10 minutes which offer fresh fish and amazing homemade pasta. Thank you very much for it! Summing up we would recommend Faggeto Fantastico for everybody who appreciates comfort, good food around and a quiet and friendly atmosphere. Christian and Claudia from Konstanz/Germanysee more
casa alla piana
Highly recommended - especially to those with small children

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Alla Piana, and wholeheartedly recommend it to others looking to stay in Bellagio. The owners Antonella and Pino were super-friendly and really could not do more to make you feel comfortable and at home in their apartment. The additional extras to accommodate a toddler were really welcome, this place is perfectly set-up if you have small children. Pino quickly put up a stairgate as soon as we arrived, and the highchair, travel cot and baby bath were nice touches too. Our 18 month old daughter also enjoyed playing in the garden. Other great benefits of Casa Alla Piana are the secure parking, quiet location and breathtaking views. But it's the owners that really set this place apart. We would highly recommend it, especially to those travelling with small children.see more
A charming apartment in front of the lake
Perfetto in every way, location, view, well furnished and fully self-contained.

While away from main town, the 20 minute leisurely walk to and from the Ferry Terminal is not too taxing. Wonderful views, particularly enjoyable while sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine. Great restaurants can be found within minutes of La Casa. Bedrooms are spacious and beds comfortable with good showers. The apartment is well appointed and ideal for an extended stay. Power supply can be tempermental so make sure you fully understand its limitations. Would have appreciated a checklist being provided to explain how everything operates.see more
CASA MADDALENA HOUSE HISTORIC CENTER VARENNA
Wonderful Apartment

We visited Lago di Como last year, and knew we wanted to stay in Varenna when we came back. Varenna is less busy, and more quaint than other sites on the lake, and yet has everything that you need. Great restaurants! With access to the ferries and train, this is a great place to start your jaunts around the lake. We really lucked out with picking Casa Maddalena as our home for 7 nights. Our host Marilena was an absolute joy. She was very quick to respond to all on-line inquiries about Casa Maddalena, and when we arrived at the Varenna train station, there she was to greet us. She drove us around Varenna, pointing out sights to visit, and where to shop for fresh fish and other goodies. She drove us to get groceries to stock up for the week! At our apartment, Marilena explained everything so well, and she has written instructions for everything.....tv, washing machine. Everything is absolutely SPOTLESS. The apartment is complete with everything you could think of. Fully equipped kitchen, even has a juicer! A very large refrigerator by European standards. The bed was very comfortable, with extra blankets and pillows. We ate several nights at the Albergo del Sol, right nextdoor to your apartment. Other great places to eat just steps away, such as il Cavatappi, which is fabulous. Marilena lives on the floor below you, so she is right there if you need anything, and she has lived there all her life, so she is a font of knowledge. Her family has lived in that building since the late 1800's. Such history! Your apartment is right on the Piazza San Giorgio, a cute little piazza with restaurants and churches surrounding it. If you have mobility issues, although there are a lot of stairs throughout the village, a road wraps through it, so no issues, and Casa Maddalena has a chairlift that takes you right up to your apartment. We would absolutely stay here again, and recommend it to anyone! You need to go!!see more
