“Escape from reality” My husband and I both have high-pressure jobs. We were looking for an escape from the grind. We found it at Water's Edge. As we entered the gate of this quaint island paradise reality melted away. The main living area is open and comfortable. The bedrooms are spacious. But I can't say that we spent much time in the house... The view from the back patio is breathtaking. The doors open to a beautiful outdoor living space which overlooks the Caribbean. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner outside! The days were lazy, filled with much needed R&R.; We read books, napped in the hammock, and simply enjoyed the sun and the seascape. The home has direct access to the water, and the pool is perfect for that quick dip to cool off. Although we were looking for a quiet getaway, nightlife was not far away. We found it easy to get over to Paradise Island for some dinner and gambling at atlantis. We enjoyed our trip so much we returned with our daughter the following year. She enjoyed it as much as we did. We've got a new baby at home, but are looking forward to getting back to Water's Edge soon.

“Great Location” My family just spent 8 days in Nassau at Ocean Paradise. It was a fantastic location for a relaxing beach vacation. We swam in the ocean every day and enjoyed the fabulous views/ The house was in good shape and very well suited to families.I have used Vrob for many years and Catherine was a great hostess. We will definitely book this house again.

“Perfect villa for a large family” This was the perfect villa for my family (6 adults, 3 children). It had everything we needed for our weeklong stay, and we couldn't have asked for a better location. It was just far enough out of town for a quite, peaceful getaway, but close enough to drive in for everything we wanted to do. The owner was fantastic to deal with and provided us with various ideas of things to do.

“It was a nice place to stay in Nassau.” We stayed for four nights and enjoyed it. The place was clean and comfortable it had all the amenities of home except a blow dryer and great water pressure; which is typical all over the island. Duran (the owner) was great and very helpful when I had requests. I recommend using the bus service to get around we felt very safe and the locals were very friendly. The pool is clean and well kept or the beach is an easy 15 minutes walk. On one of our trips to the beach we met a lady named Betty who sells fresh ingredients down by the fish docks. She provided us with recipes on how to cook fresh snapper and white crab as well as all the necessary ingredients; it was fantastic. I would recommend this place to all my friends and family.

About Nassau

Located on New Providence Island in the heart of the Bahamas, the quaint beach town of Nassau beckons visitors with its laid back Caribbean vibe and warm hospitality. Come here to relax, reconnect and make fun vacation memories. The white sand beaches and glassy waves off the coast make this a perfect destination for a romantic escape or unique family getaway. You'll find plenty of exciting things to do here, all against a backdrop of breathtaking natural beauty. Experience first class Nassau golf on champion caliber courses, quaint Nassau shopping at the boutiques and art galleries downtown, and the vibrant energy of Nassau nightlife, restaurants, and bars.

The best way to experience Nassau and the rest of the Bahamas is by staying in a vacation rental of your own. A luxury home or condo will provide you with all the space you need to store your beach gear as well as the amenities you need to relax in style. Wake up each morning in your elegant ocean villa and enjoy a cup of coffee on your private balcony. Spend your days on the beach and in the evening, brush off the sand and come home to your vacation rental to host dinner for your family and friends.

Here are a few additional suggestions for your trip:

  • Snorkel Nassau: Bahamas charter boats leave each day from the harbor and take scuba divers and snorkelers to offshore reef systems teeming with colorful fish, sea stars, and stingrays.
  • Visit Blue Lagoon Island: This legendary wildlife area is home to the famous Blue Lagoon dolphins and California sea lions.
  • Play on the beach: Some of the most breathtaking beaches in the Caribbean lie along the shores of Nassau. Arawak Cay and Cable Beach are among the most popular.
  • Visit the Junkanoo Expo Museum: This quirky museum is one of Nassau's primary downtown attractions.
  • Experience Nassau shopping: Stroll the shops along Bay Street for fabulous duty-free finds, charming architecture, delicious ice cream, and great people watching.
  • Visit the Ardastra Gardens, Zoo and Conservation Center: This 5-acre park is home to rare wildlife and beautiful gardens that bloom almost all year long.

No matter what time of year you choose to schedule your visit to Nassau, you'll find perfect weather and endless things to do. You'll also have no trouble finding a vacation rental within easy reach of your favorite activities. While you're visiting Nassau, you may also want to schedule side trips to explore the Grand Bahamas or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

PLUMERIA - Steps from Orange Hill Beach
Home away from Home

My wife, daughter, and three friends spend a week in this three bedroom, two bathroom villa. The villa is gorgeous, comfortable and clean. The villa is about 15 minutes from the airport, located on the west side of the island in a gated subdivision. The beach is just outside the subdivision gate, across the road. It's about a 5 minute walk. There is a neighborhood swimming pool about a three minute walking distance from the villa. We were in Nassau primarily for scuba diving. We were diving with Stuart Cove, which is about twenty minute drive. Stuart Cove also provides complimentary transportation everyday if you choose to walk to the the Orange Hill Resort which is located next to the subdivision. The villa has large rooms with queen beds. The living room is large with nice entertainment system and cable. Internet is also available for free. The kitchen is also wide open and well-equiped. Since the food price was rather expensive, it was great to have a nice kitchen to just cook in. The back yard is nicely tiled and clean. The landscape was exceptional with many types of fruit trees. One problem we had with the villa was that the second bathroom did not have any hot water and the water pressure was very low. The owner was notified, so this might not be an issue anymore. Both bathrooms are, however, nicely furnished. One upgrade that would enhance the villa is the dining room table. The table was just big enough for four people. Since we had six, it was a little inconvenience for us. Overall, the villa was lovely and comfortable with it's location conveniently located from all the points of interest. We would definitely stay here again when we return to Nassau.see more
Two bedroom townhouse with private pool
A beautiful house to stay in

During my stay here,I was very comfortable,it felt like a home away from home as it had all the amenities and was fully furnished. It was a nice quiet place to stay, very peaceful. We all had good Internet connection and found the house to be clean and tidy to a high standard. Overall a 10/10 it made my trip that much nicer coming back after a day out to a beautiful house. I will be recommending this to any friends or family wanting to stay in Nassau.see more
Tangerine Sunsets Fairchild
Extremely well looked after by wonderful owners

We arrived mid august and used the rental as a base whilst we were working in the hospital. The taxi transfer arranged was with us as promised, and gave us hints and tips about the island as we drove through to the rental. The rental itself was easy to access and I had no complaints regarding entry to the property, the property is situated in a gated community to the east of the island, and you can catch the number 11 bus from outside the burger king just a 2 minute walk up the road. The trip to downtown is around 20 minutes from there and costs 1.25 dollars, very reasonable value. Taxi's are much more expensive. In terms of supermarkets, there is an amazing store we discovered called Solomon's food market, and you can get off right outside from the number 11 bus on the way back from downtown, it's in a shopping plaza with a starbucks. Overall the neighbourhood we found to be very welcoming, especially within the community, but we were warned not to walk too far from the community and to stick to downtown, and following the advice we did not have any issues. The property is one of the more basic ones the owners have, I believe there are also some right on cable beach which is a beautiful beach, but it had all the amenities we wanted for 6 weeks and enabled us to save some money (much needed in the Bahamas!), and the pool is a great bonus. Whilst staying the length on time we did, we ran into a problem one evening with some gas from the oven leaking, and even though dealing with a family emergency the owners were quick to respond to our calls (very early hours) and were very fair in helping us out with the expense of a stay elsewhere, and the issue was quickly rectified. We also had a slight problem with the air conditioning unit, and whilst there were problems throughout we were again compensated and again tangerine sunsets went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Be sure to book the powerboat trip with Brigette, it's the most amazing trip well worth every penny, and you also get a discount booking through her. She also gives great recommendations for restaurants and places to go and have fun at night time. Overall if you're looking for outrageous luxury then there are other places on the island but they come with a huge price tag and in our experience disappointing service, here you feel truly looked after and get to explore the real Nassau. Thanks Tangerine Sunsets...we're already missing it! Amysee more
Hibiscus - "The Perfect Island Get-Away"
An enchanting gem

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at the Hibiscus cottage. Inae and Daron are amazing hosts with big hearts. We like to think that we left not only as their guests, but also as friends. The cottage is comfortable, clean, and everything you could need is provided. My husband and I spent our days exploring and enjoying the beauty and adventure of the Bahamas. The cottage was a great home-away-from-home to return to for relaxation and quiet. This is the place for you if you enjoy exploring and dislike the crowds and commercialism of the big hotels/resorts. Staying at Hibiscus will give you a real feel of the Bahamas and you will have absolutely no regrets.see more
Spectacular Deluxe Oceanfront Villa/Private Pool and Beach Access - Open Ocean!
Spectacular, Serene Sunrises - Fantastic House

We had a wonderful time at Water's Edge. The house was beautifully appointed and situated in one of the best spots in Nassau, directly on the ocean and overlooking the sea and other islands. A special moment every day is sunrise, as you can look out with a cup of coffee on the patio as the glowing sun seems to rise out of the ocean into the sky. The house has all the comforts of home with a well-stocked kitchen, plenty of games, and comfortable beds. The owner, Mark, is extremely helpful and always on hand for any help you need. Best vacation ever!see more
BREATH-TAKING, SPECTACULAR SEA VIEWS OF OCEANFRONT HOME - 35 STEPS INTO THE SEA!
Peaceful, quiet vacation villa, with great access for snorkeling

When we first arrived at the villa, we were a little disappointed. There were issues with the plumbing, the clothes dryer didn't work, one AC unit squealed intermittently, and there were no paper towels as advertised. HOWEVER, after contacting Cathy, she did what she could to resolve most issues, sending out a plumber and a dryer repairman. She was extremely pleasant to work with, and made follow up calls to make sure everything was OK. The villa is nice, but could use some updating (i.e., some patio chairs were broken, bathrooms could be updated). Also, the housekeeper could be more attentive, especially outside where an ashtray was left overflowing and dirty plastic drink cups were left. The pool liner was dirty, and it was suggested to the owner that an automatic pool vac might help with this. If these issues were addressed, I would raise my rating to excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the back terrace, in spite of the above issues. The kids enjoyed coming back at the end of the day and snorkeling out back more than anywhere else. They found queen conch, starfish, crabs, stingrays, and a variety of shells and fish. This became our favorite place to hang out in the evening. You will need to rent a car if you stay here. We rented a van through Avis, which worked out great. Driving here can be a little crazy, but you will quickly adjust unless you happen to be a nervous driver. There is a Super Value food store near the villa, but we found food to be so expensive there that we ate out most of the time (I researched inexpensive restaurants on Trip Advisor prior to our trip--very helpful!). We also ordered pizza from Marco's, delivered to the villa. It was very good and no more expensive than in the U.S. For excursions, I recommend Flying Cloud sail & snorkel to Rose Island, and a trip to Blue Lagoon to swim with the Dolphins (expensive, but worth it!). Paradise Ocean Sports has a good package deal, but ONLY if there aren't many passengers as they promise more than they can deliver in the time allotted. Check out all the beaches if you have time as each has something different to offer. I realize none of this is related to the villa, but hopefully the information will be helpful to some of you. We will likely never return to New Providence as we prefer to explore a variety of islands. However, if we should change our minds, we would stay at this villa again.see more
