“A cozy cottage only steps from the beach.” This cozy cottage was the best vacation experience we've had in a long time and being only steps from the beach was a big factor. The views were special with the salt marshes out back and the beach in front. Walking and exploring the beach to the inlet and around to the tidal marshes is a delight. The cottage was clean and well equipped and even had 2 flat screen Tv's if one wanted to chill out in the evening. One final thought, there is a breezy porch in front and a deck out back to grill and dine with a relaxing libation.

“Loved it!” We loved this house. It's right on the beach, it's private, and the sunsets are beautiful (and different each night). We loved being able to let our kids play on the beach while we watched them from the deck with our coffee. Not having to lug everything but the kitchen sink down to the beach was a huge bonus. If we needed to use the restroom, get a snack, or take a break from the sun, the house was right there. We would definitely stay here again.

“Love the Two-Family Capability of This Property!” We stayed here the last week of June and it was fantastic! Our family of four (with two small sons) stayed in the side cabin while my in-laws stayed in the larger home. It couldn't have been more perfect. Both homes were immaculate and well-stocked (dishes, pots, pans, flatware) so we were able to cook full meals during our stay. Our favorite part of our week was the amazing beach. Our boys waited each day for the sandbars to appear, and then would spend hours playing ball and wading in the cold bay water. We appreciate the owners sharing their lovely property with us and would be honored to stay there again in the future!

“Perfect Cape Vacation Experience” This was a waterfront property with marsh across the street, on a quiet private beach. The photos are very true to life, and the house was well equipped with pots and pans, cups, even bug spray. There were great views from the house, and it was truly relaxing to see and hear the waves from anywhere on the property. The rental company was excellent - key was ready for us, linens and chairs waiting on the porch when we arrived. Very close to 6a - grocery, restaurants, ice cream :) - but also remote location without any public traffic in the neighborhood. I could not have asked for a better house or location for our Cape vacation - we will be returning next year!

“Perfect for our Family!” We have stayed in many cottages in East Sandwich and this one is by far our favorite. The view off the back deck is beautiful. It was wonderful having coffee out there in the morning. Also, the breeze you get coming off the marsh is wonderful. The cottage was clean and bright and was perfect for our family of 4! We can't wait to come back and stay again and again and again!

“A piece of heaven!” This was our second year renting this house. It is airy, comfortable, and it's proximity to the beach is ideal. We really enjoyed the upstairs deck and the living room upstairs. The kitchen is well equipped. We grill a lot and had to fill the propane tank on the grill for the second time this year. That might be something to check before renters arrive. Location is close to shopping, laundry facilities, and restaurants. We didn't leave much because we loved it there. We enjoyed playing games on the beach, and taking daily runs, walks on the road and beach. Plenty of games, puzzles, etc. in the house which our kids took advantage of. We rented kayaks from Ride away Kayaks and they were great- delivered them and picked them up. We kayaked every day. Overall, one of our best vacations. Sand Dollar Realty was great to work with. Very professional, organized, and made arrival and departure very smooth.

“Great location with beach just over the sand dune.” Quaint cottage on the beach. Great location and easy to get to without alot of traffic delays. Cottage is full of old family antiques with lots of area to sit and relax. Some furniture lacked some comfort but you are there for the beach. Don't expect a condo, it is more like visiting your Grandparents house at the beach. For location and sized for 6 people a good value overall. We will return.

“A Little Slice of Heaven on ESB” 173B North Shore Boulevard is a little slice of heaven! This cottage is in a great location - on the beach - and also close to town, Routes 6 and 6a, and shopping. The views from three sides of the cottage are phenominal. The cottage is very spacious, clean and absolutely adorable. The cottage had many comforts of home including air conditioning, wireless internet and a stackable washer/dryer. The side deck is spacious for storing kayaks or chairs. The outdoor shower is key for rinsing off salt and sand before heading inside. This cottage feels like our home away from home. We can't wait to go back next year!!!

“Convenient location and great fenced in yard” We enjoyed being able to bring our dog and the very large fenced in yard was perfect for her. The location of the home is great and close to the store and anywhere else you want to travel to. The house needs to be aired out and freshened up a bit. I didn't feel I could use the dressers because of the musty smells. It did have all the necessities of home for cooking and cleaning so that was great.

“Clean, good location, family friendly” We loved being so close to bay. Very family friendly. Very clean. Would come here again. Our only complaint is the "trundle bed" was not a true trundle with another twin bed under. It was drawers. Thank goodness we brought an extra air mattress!!

“good family fun!!!” Th service from Sand dollar Realty was great! They took care of every thing from check in/out times, where to pick up house keys, directions to thier office, to the vacation rental and a host of resources for us to explore. They went to great lengths to reduce as much stress as possible to help make our vacation a wonderful experiance. We absolutely loved the home! It was perfect for our family of five. We were very comfortable, the home was immaculate, had all the ameneties of any home, great layout, and plenty of space. We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival to see aC in the windows. That was a bonus for us because it was not mentioned in the amenities on the web site. It was a great relief because my wife is 7 months pregnant. There were plenty of cookware, utensils, all the appliances worked super, and extra bed blankets. The location and local amenities were perfect. Everything was with in a very short walking, riding, or driving distance. We walked and road our bikes to the beaches, board walk,(Awsome!!), and Cape Cod Canal. There were great resturaunts, Ice cream shops, grocer stores, bait shops, and banks all with in minutes. What we liked best. It felt like we were at our very own beach house. We felt relaxed, comfortable, had no worries, or stress. The owners left great welcoming gifts and information on sights, places to eat and local atractions. We loved the location, house, the towns histoy, local shops, board walk and the marsh at low tide. What we liked least. The shower head is to low. I had to squat to get under it and I'm just barely 6ft tall. A hand held shower head might be good option. Also the TV was small. I'm guessing 15 - 19inch screen. Overall, we had a great time and wished we could have stayed longer. We would like to thank Sand Dollar Realty for all their support and assistance with making the stay worry free. We would also like to thank the home owners for sharing their home with us.

“Ideal family cottage” We have stayed in tis cottage for the past few years and it is ideal for our family set up (mother downstairs us and kids upstairs) and is a good value for the price. Although not ocean front it's close enough that it doesn't bother us. We needed to call Sand Dollar because there was no propane tank and they made sure to bring us one the next day. The back entrance was totally overgrown with shrubs and bushes and could not be used-they brought us small pruning shears but they weren't big enough to do the job so hopefully was taken care of for the next renters coming in. The cottage was very clean upon chek in. Overall a very nice vacation and we plan to stay here again next summer.

“Very enjoyable” The house was nice and cozy. A bit small. I would suggest that trash can bags for the outside trash can are provided set of sheets and towels. Washer and dryer would be a great plus for families with kids, particularly. The proximity to the beach was very convenient and that was very nice. All the houses were very close to each other and our kids loved that because they made a new friend, but in terms of privacy that was not ideal. All together, we had a wonderful time and great memories.

About Sandwich

In the northwest corner of Cape Cod just a short drive away from Boston, you'll find Sandwich, one of the oldest towns in the United States. Not only is Sandwich a place to find excellently preserved recreations of the past, but it also offers a postcard perfect Cape Cod summer vacation destination. This is a place of warm hospitality, captivating architecture, and natural beauty.

Come here to be swept away by the old world charm of Sandwich Village, which was founded more than three hundred years ago on shipbuilding and whaling industries. Relics of these old ways of life can still be found in any of several restored house museums, which capture both the spirit and the actual household artifacts of the town's residents.

Take a hike or bike ride along the rocky shoreline trails. Drift away from shore in a sailboat or take a charter fishing trip. Explore the side streets of the historic old town, the oldest settlement in Cape Cod. Go shopping in the quaint antique stores and local art galleries. And after a day of adventures and beautiful sights, enjoy the freshest seafood you'll find anywhere in some of the world-class restaurants downtown.

Here are a few additional suggestions as you plan your trip:

  • Visit the Sandwich Glass Museum: Come to this unique museum to learn more about the history of Cape Cod glass making and see some stunning examples of colorful stained glass artwork.
  • See the Wing Fort House: This house was built in 1645 and is considered the oldest house in the United States continuously occupied by one family. Come to the house and hear about its fascinating history.
  • Visit the Dexter Grist Mill: Take a tour of this historic and still working mill originally built in 1640. This is a great place to visit if you're traveling with children.
  • Go on a whale-watching excursion: Take a chartered boat trip to see protected marine life in their natural habitat.
  • Play on the beach: Swim, snorkel, explore the tide pools or just bring a good book and relax. Sandy Neck Beach is a popular, family friendly destination.
  • Take an eco-tour: Rent a sea kayak and explore the rocky shores on your own, or take a tour with an experienced guide and learn more about the biodiversity of the northeast coast.

You'll never run out of fun things to do in Sandwich, and you also won't have any trouble finding a perfect place to stay. Choose a classic Cape Cod vacation rental close to your favorite activities. Book a quaint summer condo near the restaurants and museums downtown, or rent a beach house overlooking the blue ocean waters of the Cape. If your vacation schedule allows, consider taking a day trip while you're here to nearby Monument Beach or quaint Barnstable Town.

Quarterboard 4
Wonderful vacation!

Our stay at the Quarterboard 4 was great! The weather was great! The beach was awesome and everyone was very friendly. The deck at the Quarterboard 4 is awesome, but could use a little more shade after a hot day at the beach! I would recommend possibly a retractable awning would be great. Other than that it was awesome!see more

Our Happy Place

We have been renting this cottage for about seven or eight years now. The owners obviously take pride in their home. It is clean, bright and airy. It is a small cottage but every inch is maximized. The kitchen is well equipped. Anything I have ever needed has been right there. My children count the days each year till we can return. The beach is fantastic and just steps away. We put down our chairs and umbrellas at the beginning of our stay and no one ever bothers them. The children in all the surrounding cottages play whiffle ball, soccer or badminton at night together. It is a magical place that demands that you relax and enjoy.see more

Fabulous location for the entire family

Fabulous location steps away from the gorgeous beach. The home is comfortable, although not much lounging area for watching television (although that is not what you are there for), with enough living space for all. Beach is pristine. Fun for the whole family!! … see more

Exactly what the doctor ordered!

Although the neighboring cottages were closer than we thought they would be it was a wonderful experience at Cape Cod. Because the cottages were small our neighbors were few, adult, and quiet. Great private beach, easy access to cottages. The cottage itself was perfect. Completely furnished. Relatively clean. Fairly modern. Only complaint - outlets are not 3 prong and as most adults these days - we took our "work" with us and had a very hard time keeping our laptops charged... We will def go again!!!see more
