"Great location, very average house & overpriced for what it is"

Waldport is a quieter town and beach location which is really nice, and this house in particular provides excellent and direct access to the beach. We chose this house for our extended family vacation. We have over a decade of getting different vacation rentals on the Oregon coast, and this house is *definitely* overpriced for its quality and its size. We've rented several updated, newer, and much larger homes for less money than this home cost. The home is about 30 years old (I'm guessing) & the maintenance on this house hasn't been the best and it shows. You can see water damage on the walls. The basement area is dark and dingy. The kitchen is not updated. The shower fixtures are broken. One of the upstairs bathrooms is kinda useless for a large group: it doesn't have a door & it only has an old outdated tub w. jets (no shower/curtain) that leaked into the bedroom below. The guestbook in the house listed recommendations dating back a few years (like fixing the broken showerhead downstairs & adding a broom to the house) for repairs/suggestions that have never been done. The property management company also has a weird annoying policy about not laundering your own towels during week which is a hassle & an unusual arrangement, as well as an odd required "check-in" when you arrive. They also require a hefty payment plan (1/2 upfront & remainder 45 days b/4 arrival) which is also more strict than any other rentals we've had in the last decade. All-in-all it's an OK house in a great location, but isn't fancy at all, definitely outdated & tired looking, in need of some basic maintenance and repairs. Most definitely charging WAY too much for the quality and size of this home.
"Absolutely the nicest rental we have ever experienced!"

Debra and Rick have gone over the top with their rental home. Notice I don't use the term "house", as this place feels like a home not a rental house. As soon as we walked in it felt comfortable and homey, lots of natural light and everything was clean and tidy. We were amazed at how well stocked the home was with every small appliance imaginable and the kitchen lacked nothing. Very well set up for entertaining friends and family with a great audio/video system, actually three of them in different rooms, books and board games. something for everyone even if you choose to stay in rather than walk the short two blocks to the long beautiful beach. Our favorite was the spa tub on the deck where we watched the gorgeous sunsets every night while getting a very relaxing soak.
Our two dogs enjoyed the freedom of the fenced in backyard and soaking up the sun on the deck. A very nice quiet neighborhood that is within minutes of Newport and Waldport allowing us to enjoy the local attractions easily, Newport Coast Aquarium was great and the view from Yaquina Lighthouse is awe inspiring.
This was one of the nicest vacations ever for us and The Moonstruck Mermaid home could not have been better. We lacked nothing in this home which is a first for us, as in all the other vacation rentals we have used always had us running to town for a needed household item that was not in the rental. Not here, they have everything and more! We Will Be Back.
This rental was such a warm and comfortable home. There was more than enough space for our family of five. It was furnished with everything you would possibly need from cookware to crab rings. The home is perfectly located, just steps to the beach or bay. We would definitely stay here again!!!
