Howelsen Place is THE address of Old Town Steamboat. Located at the site of the famous Harbor Hotel at 7th and Lincoln, this property captures the historical significance of ski jumping by introducing a bronze statue of Carl Howelsen, the one time world record holder for ski jumping and prominent, turn of the century Steamboat Springs resident. Discover what the locals already know. Park your car, ride you bike or walk to where it's happening; restaurants, shops, movies, you name it. When you stay in the heart of downtown you have easy access to almost everything, and the free city ski shuttle can whisk you to the mountain during ski season.
The common area grill located in the courtyard of the Lincoln Building (Building B) is available to all guests staying at Howelsen Place.
Past and present are architecturally melded together to satisfy the desire for modern interiors while maintaining the spirit of western heritage. Finial Design has created a streamlined look for the interiors at Howelsen Place. The goal was to combine metropolitan elements with traditional basics while remembering the nostalgia and history that surrounds the building. This becomes evident in the use of natural stone tile, warm woods and stainless steel accents. This transitional style is achieved by juxtaposing a warm atmosphere with the idea of an urban loft by using clean lines, geometric design, and a harmonious combination of color and pattern. Each finish was chosen to represent the essence of Steamboat. A mountain town full of history that embraces modern luxuries while preserving a feeling of serenity and simplicity. The main living area has a large flat screen TV with surround sound, a gas-burning fireplace, cork floors accented by gorgeous rugs, and modern comfortable furniture. The dining table sits six people, and the kitchen is well equipped for even the most discerning chef, with stainless appliances and a bar that seats four. The master bedroom of this condominium is quite spacious with large windows offering incredible views of the Steamboat Ski Area and Howelsen Hill. The flat screen TV is viewable from the luxurious king sized bed. The master bath offers a bathtub, shower, and duel sinks. The second bedroom has great views of Howelsen Hill and features two twin beds, each outfitted with deluxe bedding. The enormous L shaped deck, accessed from the living area and the master bedroom, is a great place to hang out for fireworks over Howelsen Hill during July 4th or Winter Carnival.

This is the third year my family has visited Steamboat and stayed at the Howelsen Place property. I can't say enough about it! Walk to everything, free bus service to the mountain to ski and the units are beautiful and clean! Thank you for another great experience, we will be back again!

We had a great stay at Howelson H403a for the extended Easter Weekend. Here are some quick summaries of different things:
Bedrooms - the Master bed was wonderful and comfortable. The linens were nice and the views when the windows were open, amazing. The 2nd bedroom was also really nice and the kids were comfortable. So nice to have two twin beds for kids.
Kitchen - Amazing. My wife wanted to take it home with her.
Balcony - Again, amazing views.
Ski Lockers - What a great benefit. Made it some much more convenient as you could store extra clothes and your shoes during the day and your skis, boots and poles at night. Wish there was some more logic to the boot dryers though.
Only two key negatives, one that would impact our decision to stay there again. The minor one was the fact that the condo was unbelievably hot and we could not figure out how to manage it outside opening windows. The major one was outside noise, both at 2 am when the bars let out and whenever a train came through town (seemed like 10 pm and 6 am) it had to blow its horn and was really loud waking us up.
If you can deal with the noise, it was a great place at a great reasonable price.

Howelson Place was the perfect choice for our family. I am not a skier so being downtown for me was great. I walked every where, shopping, along the river, to the Riverside Spa for a glorious massage! The condo itself was gorgeous. In the master bedroom you wake to views of Steamboat and Howelson Hill. Absolutely beautiful. Bed was crazy comfortable. Design and furnishings were lovely.
I look forward to visiting again.

What got off to a bumpy start ended very well. We loved the condo and the location. Check in was a mess...we confirmed an early check in, when we arrived we were told it would be another 4 hours. After a few phone calls were told the unit was ready, then the key code was incorrect, followed by wrong door keys. Staff was quick to help us. After this the rest of the stay was wonderful. On our last night there had to help a family checking in that had a garage door opener that didn't work. Makes you wonder about the check in process. But I would highly recommend the place and location.

We were looking for a low-key quiet get away together. The Howelson property offered just the atmosphere we were seeking and beautiful views. It was just the peaceful time together that we'd been hoping for.
