Howelsen Place is THE address of Old Town Steamboat. Located at the site of the famous Harbor Hotel at 7th and Lincoln, this property captures the historical significance of ski jumping by introducing a bronze statue of Carl Howelsen, the one time world record holder for ski jumping and prominent, turn of the century Steamboat Springs resident. Discover what the locals already know. Park your car, ride you bike or walk to where it's happening; restaurants, shops, movies, you name it. When you stay in the heart of downtown you have easy access to almost everything, and the free city ski shuttle can whisk you to the mountain during ski season.
The common area grill located in the courtyard of the Lincoln Building (Building B) is available to all guests staying at Howelsen Place.
Past and present are architecturally melded together to satisfy the desire for modern interiors while maintaining the spirit of western heritage. Local designer Holly Haus has created a streamlined look for the interiors of this Howelsen Place condominium. The goal was to combine metropolitan elements with traditional basics while remembering the nostalgia and history that surrounds the building. This becomes evident in the use of natural stone tile, warm woods and stainless steel accents. This transitional style is achieved by juxtaposing a warm atmosphere with the idea of an urban loft by using clean lines, geometric design, and a harmonious combination of color and pattern. Each finish was chosen to represent the essence of Steamboat. A mountain town full of history that embraces modern luxuries while preserving a feeling of serenity and simplicity. The main living area has a large flat screen TV with surround sound, a gas-burning fireplace, cork floors accented by gorgeous rugs, and modern comfortable furniture. The dining table sits six people, and the kitchen is well equipped for even the most discerning chef, with stainless appliances and a bar that seats two. The master bedroom of this condominium is quite spacious with large windows offering incredible views. The flat screen TV is viewable from the luxurious king sized bed. The master bath offers a bathtub, shower, and duel sinks. The second bedroom has great views and features a king bed outfitted with deluxe bedding. The third bedroom has two twin beds. The enormous deck, accessed from the living area and the master bedroom, is a great place to hang out for fireworks over Howelsen Hill during July 4th or Winter Carnival.

This was my forth time staying at Howelsen Place and we couldn't have been happier! The bedroom configuration was perfect with 1 bedroom having twins beds (Hard to find!), and the other 2 with a king and queen. The few items missing in the kitchen for cooking were quickly reported and were brought to the unit within a few hours of the request! The showers in the 2nd bedroom & hallway were not great..but "ok". We loved staying downtown - walking distance to everything - restaurants, shops, ski rentals (best to rent from Straightline if you need anything - half the price than renting on the mountain! Also great selection of clothing!). Pioneer Ridge are amazing managers of the property! They attended to issues immediately! We had Internet problems twice while we were there - over the 10 days, and they sent over a tech guy within 20 minutes. We needed a rollaway bed for a few nights, and they were very quick to send one in. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again when I go back in the New Year. I have now stayed in 4 different units, and they are all amazing! First class accommodations and service. Don't hesitate to book this place... Love the bathrobes, towels, and toiletries!!! Kitchen comes fully equipped and if you need anything that could be missing... all you have to do is ask!!! Washer and Dryer in the unit - Fantastic!!! We can't wait to come back!

I found this condo on the internet and it was lovely. We stayed the week before Christmas with our 2 college kids. It was our first trip to Steamboat and our first ski trip that we didn't stay at ski in/ski out accommodations. We will do it again! There are very few bad things to say about this condo. The beds are not comfortable, which is really shocking because every little detail for a comfortable stay was spot on. The condo was too warm at night. We slept with the window cracked. Bring your own wine bottle opener and spices for cooking. Bring some Dvds, not many cable viewing options. The daily maid service was not daily, but not a big deal. We had 4 extra sets of towels in each bathroom and never ran out! The positives outweigh the negatives! It was a perfect location. We rode the city bus to the mountain and around town (bus stop 1.5 blocks from condo) and walked everywhere downtown. Never got our vehicle out of heated garage till we left (was 27 below 0 and car was toasty warm). We were in the middle of all the downtown action. There were so many great little places to eat and most of them were a block away. Be sure to try Carl's at night (downstairs) and Wynona's for breakfast and lunch (a block away). When we stayed in and cooked, the kitchen was perfectly stocked and the gas grill worked like a charm. The private terrace was so neat. We had a beautiful view of Howelson Hill skiers, especially nice to watch from our super comfy living room. The downtown shops were good. There were traditional touristy shops and quite a few unique shops with exceptional offerings. We secured lift tickets and equipment rentals through Pioneer Ridge. That was so easy! And the ski locker at the Gondola Ski Club was one of the most outstanding amenities of this condo. All in all, this condo is awesome. I think you will enjoy it. We will be repeat guests here!Ii
