Howelsen Place is THE address of Old Town Steamboat. Located at the site of the famous Harbor Hotel at 7th and Lincoln, this property captures the historical significance of ski jumping by introducing a bronze statue of Carl Howelsen, the one time world record holder for ski jumping and prominent, turn of the century Steamboat Springs resident. Discover what the locals already know. Park your car, ride you bike or walk to where it's happening; restaurants, shops, movies, you name it. When you stay in the heart of downtown you have easy access to almost everything, and the free city ski shuttle can whisk you to the mountain during ski season.
The common area grill located in the courtyard of the Lincoln Building (Building B) is available to all guests staying at Howelsen Place.
Past and present are architecturally melded together to satisfy the desire for modern interiors while maintaining the spirit of western heritage. A streamlined look has been created for all the interiors at Howelsen Place. The goal was to combine metropolitan elements with traditional basics while remembering the nostalgia and history that surrounds the building. This becomes evident in the use of natural stone tile, warm woods and stainless steel accents. This transitional style is achieved by juxtaposing a warm atmosphere with the idea of an urban loft by using clean lines, geometric design, and a harmonious combination of color and pattern. Each finish was chosen to represent the essence of Steamboat. A mountain town full of history that embraces modern luxuries while preserving a feeling of serenity and simplicity. The main living area has a large flat screen TV with surround sound, a gas-burning fireplace, wood floors accented by gorgeous rugs, and modern comfortable furniture. The kitchen is well equipped for even the most discerning chef. The master bedroom of this condominium is quite spacious and has a king size bed. The second bedroom features a queen bed and there is a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. The 224 sq ft deck looks over Lincoln Avenue and is a great place to watch Winter Carnival events.

The condo itself is upscale and perfect for a small group or family. It has a wrap-around balcony with panoramic views of the mountains! And the kitchen is well appointed and, with its Viking appliances, inspires you to actually cook. We took our family of 6 (4 kids) to stay her over spring break. Everything was within walking disgrace for us (or a short bus ride on the free city bus) which was perfect. I only had 1 complaint. It's positioned directly across the street from the Ghost Ranch. Every night at about 2am, there was a minimum of 1-2 hours where the steet noise became unbearable. All the intoxicated vacationers were basically standing outside our windows yelling at the top of their lungs. I thought maybe it would be an isolated incident... But it happened every night, Sat-Wed. That might not be a detractant for some people, but when your 5 & 7 year olds are awakened for several hours each night, that puts a damper on your vacation. Otherwise it was a great place to stay!
"Can't be in the best location without a bit of noise."

Best bed I ever slept on! Just beautiful inside. You are in the heart of town. That being said falling asleep can be a little tricky. I imagine if you like partying a little late at night? This is the perfect spot. We Loved being in the heart of town, close to restaurants and not too far from the slopes. Would love to go back!

The unit was beautiful, location was great, pool certificates worked out perfect for the kids. Nothing was explained at check in as far as building security. We got locked out of the building when we went out and then got attitude from someone on the phone " this was explained to you at check in" well it wasn't or I wouldn't have called. Biggest surprise was that we were only given 1 parking spot. It's a 3 bedroom condo unless you have a conversion van there will be at least 2 cars. This would have been fine had it been explained to us when we booked the unit. But overall very happy with unit and we will return.

Howelsen Place is located in the hub of Steamboat. Our teenagers enjoyed bopping around town via trails and the free bus. The balconies offer great views of the gorgeous scenery all around. Recreation opportunities are fabulous! Yampa tube rental, the alpine Slide, and Old Town Hot Springs are a short walk away. Free passes with the rental rocked! Enjoyed various happy hours nearby for delicious appetizers. We cooked on the patio grill and used the kitchen daily, which was great! My family would return to Howelsen Place in a heartbeat!
