Howelsen Place is THE address of Old Town Steamboat. Located at the site of the famous Harbor Hotel at 7th and Lincoln, this property captures the historical significance of ski jumping by introducing a bronze statue of Carl Howelsen, the one time world record holder for ski jumping and prominent, turn of the century Steamboat Springs resident. Discover what the locals already know. Park your car, ride you bike or walk to where it's happening; restaurants, shops, movies, you name it. When you stay in the heart of downtown you have easy access to almost everything, and the free city ski shuttle can whisk you to the mountain during ski season.
The common area grill located in the courtyard of the Lincoln Building (Building B) is available to all guests staying at Howelsen Place.
Past and present are architecturally melded together to satisfy the desire for modern interiors while maintaining the spirit of western heritage. A streamlined look has been created for all the interiors at Howelsen Place. The goal was to combine metropolitan elements with traditional basics while remembering the nostalgia and history that surrounds the building. This becomes evident in the use of natural stone tile, warm woods and stainless steel accents. This transitional style is achieved by juxtaposing a warm atmosphere with the idea of an urban loft by using clean lines, geometric design, and a harmonious combination of color and pattern. Each finish was chosen to represent the essence of Steamboat. A mountain town full of history that embraces modern luxuries while preserving a feeling of serenity and simplicity. The main living area has a large flat screen TV with surround sound, a gas-burning fireplace, wood floors accented by gorgeous rugs, and modern comfortable furniture. The kitchen is well equipped for even the most discerning chef. The master bedroom of this condominium is quite spacious and has a king size bed. The second bedroom features a queen bed and there is a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. A twin bed can accommodate a 7th person in the den. The 478 sq ft deck has views of the Steamboat Ski Area.

For years we stayed on the mountain thinking ski in ski out was ideal, but we were always disappointed with the units. We started staying DT 3 years ago and love Howelsen Place. The unit is very quite because the building is solid construction - even with Carl's right below. Awesome views from the balcony and comfy beds, not to mention space for our kids to stretch out after a day on the slopes.

H402a is a condo that is spacious, well appointed, even opulent - also an excellent location in a beautiful setting; however, it has a fatal flaw!. There is no window treatment/drapes on 60% of the sleeping area windows [look at the pictures]. If you want to be awakened at sunrise and kept awake by annoying, penetrating and unrelenting bright sunlight, then this is the place for you. If you prefer to sleep past sunrise then this is unacceptable - no - don't do it!!

For years now we have stayed in Colorado for late-summer vacations (usually aspen or Vail). We have a new retreat! For the money, this property is much nicer than the upscale places we have stayed in the past...plus for those who don't ski, Steamboat is a much nicer, friendlier town than aspen. Booking the property was a breeze with Mark the manager. His staff is very accomodating & attentive as well...they want you to enjoy your stay.
This condo is quiet, roomy, and has everything we needed for a wonderful time. It is located in downtown so is close to restaurants and shops which is what I enjoyed, but my husband and son loved that they could go across the street and fly fish on the beautiful, secluded river each morning before breakfast. Our daughter loved the jogging trails.
One of the best features of the property is the large deck. We used it every day.
I only rated the condo 4 stars because the floors (in the corners) had dust so housekeeping could do better, but it wasn't such a big problem (even from this perfectionist) that I wouldn't stay here again. This property will most likely be on our yearly list of vacation spots.

Wonderful location for attending the steamboat wine festival with friends.
The one thing that needs fixed is there are no curtains or shades over the doors from the bedrooms to the balcony. These face east and you will be up with the sun every morning. It also creates a huge lack of privacy.
