Why stay in a hotel when you can stay at the Rockies Condominiums? The Rockies, at the base of the Steamboat Ski Area, has a reputation in Steamboat Springs not only as a familiar landmark for family vacations, but as the best lodging value in all the Yampa Valley. Featuring studio loft, one bedroom, two bedroom, and two bedroom plus loft condominiums, the Rockies offers a unit configuration to suit your needs. You can't beat the value of the Rockies located near the base of the Steamboat Ski area across the street from the Steamboat Grand Hotel. Our studio rates are comparable to hotels that are located further away from the slopes, but you have the luxury of a living room, balcony and kitchen. We have the complimentary SST City Bus stop at the property. The Steamboat Springs Transit loops around the Rockies and makes various stops at the Mountain area on its route back to the Gondola Transit Center. A Mountain Resorts shuttle is also on call in mid-day (11am-2pm) and again during evening hours (6pm-10:30pm) for trips downtown or to the grocery store (shuttle service is only available during winter months). International Travelers love the self-catering apartments with fully equipped kitchens plus all the linens and towels that make them feel right at home without being in a cramped hotel room. The Rockies Condominiums are within walking distance to Ski Time Square, the indoor year-round Tennis Center and the Strings Music Festival pavilion in the summer.
This Two Bedroom Plus Loft condominium has a mountain view. The well equipped kitchen has been updated with new cabinetry, nice counters and a tile back splash. There is seating for six at the dining room table and an additional three at the kitchen counter. The living area has a 42" flat screen TV with a DVD player. The main level master bedroom has a king size log pole bed and a 32 inch flat screen TV. The second bedroom also on the main level has two twin size beds and a 19 inch TV with a DVD player. We stayed for 8 nights in late March. Skiing was fabulous. Condo was everything we had hoped for. Condo was clean, well stocked and comfortable. There was more than enough room. Everything was in working order.
The location was great. Bus stop not far away, and it took about 5 minutes once on the bus to get to the gondola. It is within walking distance, but it is uphill and not all that fun in ski boots. Easy trip back downhill, however, even in ski boots.
Mountain Resorts shuttle was great for going out to dinner in town.
Discounted lift tickets offered by Mountain Resorts if you buy them ahead.
You should keep in mind that this unit is on the 3rd floor and is quite a climb up 2 flights of stairs with your luggage/skis when you are coming from a much lower elevation and are tired from traveling. We were totally adapted to it by the end however.

Condo was great but we had trouble at front desk. Our group called 3 days in advance to see if we could schedule early check in for our existing reservation. We were told to check back the next day and were able to confirm that since therroom was empty the evening prior to our stay that it wouldn't be a problem. When we arrived the front desk acted like they had no clue. We shopped around town while they were supposedly preparing the room. We came back 2 hours later and we were told the room still wasn't ready...we also came to find out that the communication was never made to the 3rd party company that services the rooms. Another two hours later when we were told the room was ready we got there only to find out we had been given the keys to the wrong room which was embarrassing when we opened the door and people were in the room. After waiting 20 minutes the actual keys were delivered and we made it into the right room. Nothing was ever done to compensate for the service failures we encountered. Our service issues did not end there, our group requested a shuttle, the shuttle arrived a few minutes early and we saw it pull up out front. We walked down the stairs and it was gone, the shuttle literally pulled in and then right back out...we had to call and wait for another shuttle.

The unit we stayed in was absolutely fantastic. Well appointed and everything we needed. The owners really thought of everything. I really liked the location and amenities. The staff was also excellent and the front desk great to work with. The only issue we had was the TV in the master bedroom was absolutely impossible. Not sure if the Comcast machine was not working or what - a little disappointing, but not a deal breaker. Also, a new coffee maker might be in order - leaked. Loved the furniture and the decoration was so cool. Wife said it was the "cutest" place we have ever stayed in. A blast!
