“This place will take your breath away, again and again” We stayed at the Avalon Coastal Retreat over New Year and although our expectations were high the retreat is overwhelmingly stunning - it basically takes your breath away. the house is perched on a cliff by the sea, and designed to make you feel part of the landscape. the views are out of this world both towards the Freysinet Peninsula and towards the pretty local beaches, the first beach being just down from the house and almost private to the property. Our host Anne checked us in, gave us local advice and had ensured that the house was stocked up with food and wine, some of it on minibar terms, but most of it actually provided, so that the local shopping can be focused on fantastic local produce. Anne also helped out during a power cut by bringing us lanterns and plenty of candles. The retreat is pristine, nicely furnished and very stylish in a comfortable way. We had a fantastic time, enjoying the Avalon Retreat the surroundings and all the games provided. We only regret that we did not stay at the Avalon Apartment in Hobart as well - but now we know for next time.
