I rented this home for my husbands 40th birthday with family. I think overall the house is beautiful and the mountain village location is spectacular.
The highlights about the house are that it is much prettier and brighter than the pictures make it out to be. We were pleasantly surprised. The view from the great room is amazing and the finishes are all top of the line. It is very roomy and the bedrooms are nicely spread out so families can have lots of breathing room, this is a great home for a big group.
The house does have some downsides however. The entire back of the house has no view and in fact you face a large concrete wall. The house is also located right off the road so there isn't a lot of privacy. We had a significant issue with the electronics in the house, there are no manuals and the technology seems very outdated but complicated.
Our other main issues were with the upkeep/management of the house. Upon arrival we we're give the incorrect code to enter the house so after a few phone calls we were finally given the right information. The first night in the house we were freezing cold. We turned the heat up significantly and tried the fireplaces but none worked. When we called they said it took a few days to warm up which we though then the heat should have been turned on a day or two prior to our arrival as there was no sleep the first night. There were other little thing like trash left on the front porch, outdoor cushions all piled up in the kitchen, fireplaces with pilot lights that had blown out, the elevator not working and not enough coffee cups etc that were just a bother. The caretaker who was sent to address these issues was fantastic though and did his best to address and fix everything as quickly as he could but it was still a bother on our end to have to deal with all of the issues. In general pretty house, great setting but too many glitches for us to consider again. Read more
Thank you for your detailed review of the Sundance Retreat. I apologize that the house wasn't up to standards when you arrived. We are working with the caretaker to do a better job of making sure everything is ready for new guests.

Friends, This house is magical. I brought a group of 20 yogis to Telluride for the Telluride yoga festival. We have never had a better retreat. Between the hot tub, the fire pit, the grill, the ghost (yes there is a ghost) and the gourmet kitchen that 10 woman at a time could easily cook in, we had the best time. None of us wanted to leave and at the end of the trip when everyone had gone and kids were packed in the car waiting for me, I just stood in the middle of the foyer, took a deep breath, and promised our ghost we'd be back. You will love it.

From the ease of checking in through the ease of checking out, our stay in Sundance Retreat was as good as it gets. We have had family vacations in other parts of the country and world but this topped them all for comfort, beauty and amenities. Six adults and four children from 8-10 were all overwhelmed with the home and the location.
Ten days of being in this home made Telluriders out of everyone with the conversation of the day being, "When can we do this again?"

Enjoyed the Sundance Retreat -- it was awesome! The home fit our needs perfectly -- especially the location and ski in/ski out feature. Had some great dining experiences in the home. Enjoyed the TV and fireplace in the living room. Lots of Ncaa basketball and conversation! Only problem was with the aV systems . Instructions would be helpful! Too complicated -- even with computer savvy kids. The skiing experience for everybody was incredible. Thank you! The Poljans from Michigan Read more
We completely agree with you! It sounds like you had a good time, we hope to see you soon for another visit soon!

This lodge/home is truly exceptional. Our group did enjoy the spacious and well equipped home. It has too numerous to count luxuries, including two washers and two dryers! Big screen/flat screen TVs throuhout the house are a plus.
The ski room was wonderful. The heated garage for two cars was a plus.
Minor negatives included a nonworking elevator, a lost remote control for bedroom 3, and a beautiful agi stove in the kitchen which we were not allowed to use.
All things said, this unit provided an exceptional location. I would highly recommend this facility.
The services of the rental agent and support staff were superior. Read more
