Escape to this secluded villa set upon the hills of Terres Basse—French for “Love’s Nest,” this charming two-bedroom home near the beach is one of our top St. Martin vacation rentals for romantic getaways. St. Martin is known for its unique mix of European and Caribbean culture, as well as its fantastic beaches, agreeable climate and lively nightlife scene.
Take in stunning views of Baie Rouge while lounging on one of the cushioned sun chaises on the villa’s back terrace. They surround the uniquely designed pool that’s framed by pillars—it’s heated and is lit up at night for swims under the stars. There’s also an outdoor jacuzzi that’s perfect for soaking sore muscles after a day of island exploring. You can keep meal times casual by firing up the barbecue and dining alfresco—and you won’t need to lift a finger; a housekeeping service is included in the rental.
From the patio, step into the living room via sliding glass doors and enter into this fully air conditioned home. This common area features a vaulted ceiling and plush sofas with colorful cushions that surround a flatscreen TV. Nearby, the bright and sunny kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and a center island with a breakfast bar. Formal dinners can be enjoyed in the interior dining room that overlooks the pool area and the sea.
The villa’s two bedrooms allows up to four guests, making it the perfect destination for a romantic retreat, or as a vacation spot for a small family or two couples. Both suites offer king size beds as well as plasma TVs, DVD players, private en-suite bathrooms with showers and access to the outdoor patio.
One of the villa’s biggest perks is that it’s a quick three-minute drive to Baie Rouge Beach and only five minutes to the sands of Cupecoy. The restaurants, markets and nightlife spots of the capital Marigot are also just 10 minutes away.

With the exception of Villa Paradise, this Villa by far gets the most stars from the many others we have stayed. Everything worked, hot tub was hot and the pool was perfect. The owner MUST be aware of the professional services of Paula. This Lady has a personality of a caring for all, hard working and a true PRO. I am just sorry that the place was booked or would have booked longer. - Kenneth H., California, USA

This villa is an amazing bargain. For a really reasonable rate, we had the most incredible view short of staying directly on the beach. The location is great, the amenities are ample... and that view is unbeatable. - Ken F., Massachusetts, USA

We have been coming to St. Martin for over 20 years and have stayed in many beautiful villas, but this one was over the top. The Villa was perfect in all aspects, the housekeeper is a gem, and the view is to die for. What else does one need to say. - Irving S., New Jersey, USA

This villa has everything you could possibly want and more than you need. Very comfortable furnishings, a well equipped kitchen, a spacious pool deck, and a view you never want to leave. After 25 years of visiting St. Martin I have determined that the Terres Basses area is the best area to be and Nid d\'Amour may be the most convenient in the neighborhood yet still very private. Did I mention the view? One of the best on the island. My favorite amenity at the house was being able to come home after a day at the beach and enjoy the warmth of the jacuzzi and pool. I will forever seek out a heated pool and jucuzzi from now on wherever I travel. I must also mention how much we liked Paula, the caretaker. She was extremely kind to us and varied her schedule to accommodate our schedule when we wanted some alone time. Thank you so much! - Bruce R., Michigan, USA

The villa, Island, shopping, accommodations, beaches, dining, all superb! Not fond of the roads or motorcycles or smokey casinos. Our Housekeeper made the trip so much easier, if she did not know the answer to something, she found it. Very private, the view was breathtaking!. - Ann G., South Carolina, USA

When we arrived in St. Maarten, the driver was there waiting for us and in no time we were at the Villa where Paula, the maid, was waiting to show us around and answer any questions we had. The Villa was just as the photos showed...very majestic, yet cozy at the same time. It was the perfect place to spend our 25th anniversary! This wasn\'t our first trip to the island and we enjoy going to the many beaches and restaurants, but Nid D\'Amour was so perfect that everytime we said to each other, \"should we go out to the beach today?\" or \"should we go out for dinner?\", we usually responded \"Nah, it\'s nicer here, lets\'s stay in!\" We visited for 2 weeks and only went out to eat twice, and it wasn\'t to save money, but to enoy the villa! The views were spectacular, the patio, very private, the kitchen, very well equipped, and the location, the Terres Basses area, very convenient to grocery stores, beaches, etc... We would highly recommend the villa and we can\'t wait to go back again!

My wife and I spent a week here in June 2011. What the pictures don't show you is that the pool is not secluded. Plenty of surrounding villas can look right down into your pool and deck area, including the villa directly above, Terrasse de Mer. If you don't mind the fishbowl feeling, this is a very nice, relatively new villa ideal for 1 -2 couples or small family. The kitchen is nice though a little small and not stocked sufficiently with basic utensils and miscellaneous items you expect from a $700/night rental. Other than the lack of privacy the pool is nice with terrific views of Baie Rouge and Marigot in the distance. If you like your music al fresco you'll appreciate the excellent outdoor speakers. The pool waterfall is an interesting novelty but after the first afternoon you'll probably leave it off.
The front door of the house is all glass which contributes to a lack of privacy. You should also expect to see several feral cats hanging around your front door looking through the glass. Apparently previous guests have fed them and now they're permanent fixtures. By the way, when the master bedroom door is open, someone standing outside your front door can see all the way into the bedroom - poorly designed and totally unacceptable in my opinion.
The house lady is very nice but failed to show us many things upon our arrival, such as the location of pool light switches, how to work the remote controls for the a/C units, and to warn us that the Jacuzzi tub switch stays on if you depress it too far. The first night it remained on all night, and I was unable to get the house manager to call me back on Sunday to remedy the problem. I was finally able to figure it out on my own.
A poor value compared to other villas we've rented.
