It is located in the heart of Ireland within one hours drive of Galway City, Connemara, Bunratty Castle, Rock of Cashel and many more attractions. The village has two award winning pubs and restaurants (Paddys Bar and Derg Inn) together with village shop and post office. In the early Middle Ages, the place was known as "Tír dá Glas".
