We stayed here the last week of July 2014 and was so happy with the cottage. I have a 4 year old, 3 year old and 9 month old and the cottage was perfect for us. It was spotless and uncluttered. We took the advice of another reviewer and brought our own bedding which saved us laundry on the last day. It's a few minutes from Singing Sands (perfect for kids!) and about 15 minutes to Cyprus Lake Campground where you can access Georgian Bay. Also a 20 minutes drive into Tobermory which has some great shops and restaurants. The cottage had everything you would need, was very comfortable and the WiFi worked great! The waterfront is not great, but the kids liked mucking about in it & catching minnows, etc. and the sunsets were lovely. While not private when down by the water, the neighbors were very friendly & quiet. Overall, GREAT quality for the price!

We stayed here from Monday to Friday in June, right before the summer season. It was quiet, peaceful and pleasant. The property is huge and we enjoyed the large windows, bbq, and pond. We made a camp fire every night and roasted marshmallows and hot dogs. We had fun using the paddle boat and canoe which were available at the cottage and free for use. There were also bikes but we didn't have time to use them. There is a lot of wildlife around. We saw many bunnies, frogs, fish, snapping turtles, snakes and fireflies right on the property.
The couches in the house were comfortable. The beds were pretty hard but surprisingly, we never woke up feeling sore. One of the bedrooms is also the entry into the garage and also has a large window which people can use to look right into the bedroom. That was a bit strange but not too big of a deal. The only complaint from my friends was the huge deer head hanging in the hallway. It caused us to be startled several times.
We booked the room via email and paid over the phone. We never met the owners but all communications were pleasant and friendly. We were 100% comfortable with this.
The cottage is about a 20 min drive from town and other main attractions are a short drive away. Remember to dispose of your garbage and recycling appropriately. We would not hesitate to return again and we would definitely recommend to property to those wanting a cottage getaway with family or friends!
Things that could be improved:
-Better knives in the kitchen
-Better pans (non-stick) in the kitchen
-Better can opener
What I would do differently:
Bring my own sheets to save time on washing/drying sheets prior to departure

My boyfriend, my mom and aunt and my two friends rented out this cottage for the Labour Day long weekend for 4 days and 3 nights, and we were all ecstatic to find a cottage for the long weekend (at such a short notice) and at a fantastic and more than reasonable price.
Upon arrival at the cottage we were greeted by Nancy (one of the owners), with a very friendly smile. The cottage was clean, inside and out. Kitchen is fully equipped with everything we needed (except we brought our own coffee and tea pots).
We utilized the satellite on our 3rd day as it turned out to be very gusty and cooler temperatures.
For the most part we experience fall like weather, so we hiked up Lions Head (40 min drive from cottage), went to Tobermory for a day (20 minute drive).
We attempted to use the canoe provided at the cottage but however the waterfront is not an ideal spot for canoeing, so if willing you can portage it into lake Huron from the cottage, its not that difficult to do so, my boyfriend and our friend did it. Lots of frogs jumping around the waters edge though.
Fireplace outside was large and we used it nearly every night.
The deck was great, however we only sat at the side when we did go outside.
Downside: cottage shares wifi with the neighbouring cottage, but it did not work for us while we were staying there. Unannounced to us, the wifi was shared next door, and this was discovered when the neighbour came by as they were having trouble connecting as well. Although this was not the main focus of our trip - to connect to the internet all the time - but having the occasional use of it would have been nice.
Overall you will be pleased, whether you are a family or not, this cottage suits all needs.

We've just come back for a great three-night stay in Sunset Getaway. We found the cottage very clean and charming. It features a wonderful deck where you can enjoy nature while watching the kids play outside in the playground. Perhaps one of the main advantages of this cottage is its perfect locatation. It is located 15 minutes from Tobermory and 5 minutes from Singing Sands.
The owners are very friendly, helpful and easy to reach. They also own Eithan Escape, one block away. This is very convenient when you travel with another family, as we did, and you still want to enjoy some privacy.

The 'sunset getaway' cottage is a beautiful cottage with a lot if character and tucked away in a nice secluded waterfront site. Only about 10-15 min drive to tobermory, this place offers everything you need to just unwind and chill! The cottage is amazingly well equipped with all the everyday amenities one needs and the owners are super nice and very helpful! We stayed here for two nights and Randy did everything to make our stay comfortable!
This was our first 'cottaging' experience and loved it!!
Even in bad weather, the huge picture windows in the dining and living room offers a nice tranquil view oft the green and water and you can sit there just looking outside the whole day!

We had a great time. The cottage, recently renovated, was extremely clean. We appreciated that since we traveled with two little kids.
The location is very convenient. We took out kids skating right in front of the cottage, and for a sled ride on the nearby Singing sands (we enjoyed its beautiful winter scenery), and hiked on the Bruce trail.
The owners were very helpful and easygoing. They also provided detailed answers to all our questions via email and were easily reached on their cellphones.
We hope to be back.

Our family just came back from a vacation at the Sunset Getaway cottage and we absolutely enjoyed every minute spent there. The air is fresh and the location is very private; meaning that there are no loud noises whatsoever. We relaxed on the awesome deck and did not have worry about mosquito's. The cottage is located about 5 minutes from Singing Sands which was perfect for our kids as they spent a whole day swimming. When we returned, we enjoyed the sunset through the big glass window and watched different birds. The hummingbirds were incredible in the morning! We also made a trip to Tobermory just 15 minutes away and enjoyed some mini golf and ice cream! The next day we visited the grotto at cyprus lake which took our breath away. The water in the backyard is shallow meaning it was safe for our kids. During the night, we layed a blanket on the grass and enjoyed millions of stars, which you will never see in the city. Sunset Getaway cottage: you have been amazing to us and we cannot wait to come back!
